Tesla Fanboys are like, so if we use autopilot, and it crashes into someone, it's our fault?!
Tesla warns you when you use it. Don't you read the agreement?
Tesla Fanboys: We have to read it? We just scroll down to the agree button and press it.

No sure cure for stupid. Aircraft autopilots, which have been in use for many years, require monitoring and cross checking.
You, the driver are ultimately responsible for the driving the car. No matter what the weather conditions or condition of the vehicle, your own state of alertness, you are the DRIVER of the car and ultimately responsible for its actions, even if were standing still (red light). The car is a loaded gun. Once the Drive shift is selected the "safety" is off. You have become a guided missile. You may have delegated the driving to AP, but you are the owner until the car is in Park or you have exited the vehicle. Newly minted tesla drivers should thoroughly understand the difference between AP and FSD, how to control and turn each/both off by working the right stick and brake pedal.
I also wish people realized just how heavy these EV's are. The average Tesla weighs as much as a full size pickup truck. You impart a TON of energy into the vehicle you hit, dramatically increasing the chance you're going to hurt someone.
If the people in that Civic were hit by another average sedan they'd still be alive, but they got hit with something a little more than twice as heavy as their Civic.
I drive a truck and I'm very careful around traffic for that reason, ocd never want to hurt anyone. (Which also bothers me when I see people rip around in trucks like they are little sedans).
Why would the name autopilot create the impression that the car drives itself completely?
The auto pilot systems on airplanes are monitored by pilots and they deal with emergencies, as well as taking off and landing.
Drivers are told over and over that they’re still responsible and still must pay attention and be ready to take over.
So, you equate Driving Cars with Flying Airplanes? To be a PILOT requires 100s of Hours of class training and in-flight training and they are 100 times more focused than any Road Vehicle driver could ever be. Tesla made a HUGE mistake calling their system "Autopilot". Young people nowadays want to think they're COOL with their "self-driving" car and rely way too much on it. Giving entitled people a car with this system is going to be the DEATH of a lot of people.
@@georgespalding7640 It’s still the responsibility of the driver. It in fact is autopilot, just like a security worker is in charge of keeping premises secure. But nothing is perfect and makes mistakes, drivers fault 100% don’t try to redirect it to an innovation company
@@Christophero When you're an Elon Musk Fanboy of course he can do no wrong. Innovation companies make mistakes all the time and Tesla is no exception.
@@georgespalding7640 I never said he doesn’t make mistakes, I’m saying we need to start putting more of the blame on the person who made a mistake. We are responsible for our own actions if people are dumb enough to not do their research on driving systems that’s on them
It is sad how intentionally misleading or uniformed these so-called reporters are. First, the videos you show are FSD Beta, not Autopilot. Second, the car in question did not have FSD Beta. Third, Autopilot does not "drive itself," it is nothing more than an adaptive cruise control with lane assist and crash avoidance, which are all safety systems that help assist a driver...the driver is entirely in control and responsible for the vehicle. Are you saying a driver has never been held responsible for a crash because they had cruise control on? This is no different. Stop being a disgrace to your profession and either do your research to report accurately or stop the blatant lies. The truth will set you free.
Tesla has never claimed autopilot to be a self-driving car, every user accepts use agreement that states as much, and if users do not stay engaged, the car will disengage the autopilot assistive driving system. The driver is entirely at fault, hence the charge.
The total recall movie aye? This is earth ok😐. If u cant drive, call a friend or a cab, with a person driving. Quit being dum, people.
Fr💯
The problem is there is very little time to react should the autopilot fail.
FALSE, in a Tesla the Driver has to be aware, has to have their hands resting on the steering wheel READY to take over at ANY time w/o Warning.
IF the Driver is aware and NOT Driving Distracted or IMPAIRED, then they can react to Correct the Situation. including overriding Steering or apply Emergency Breaking.
but, Autopilot rarely fails (Highway Driving) , however FSD beta which Drives on City Streets & Roads requires MORE Supervision and because the program is BETA it sometimes makes Mistakes, but its Constantly getting better.
in Q3 2021 Tesla Autopilot has ONLY 1 crash in every 4.31 Million miles driven, and w/ Autopilot turned off ONLY 1 crash in every 1.59 MILLION miles Driven, the latest NHTSA data shows the National Average is 1 crash in 484,000 for cars NOT Equipped with Autopilot.
Yeah, let’s hurry and get all those safe autonomous 18 wheelers out on the road as soon as possible!
Speed was a major factor. The driver tells the car how fast to go. You can’t blame the car for that. This is akin to setting your cruise control and forgetting to hit the brakes.
People are not "designed" to passively attend to road conditions when not actively controlling the vehicle. Military applications often require "dummy alerts" to make sure operators are paying attention to automated equipment. Why would you want to have your car driven by the equivalent of a very, bright but sure-to-make-mistakes teenager? It makes no sense. People buy the feature to "not drive", not to participate as a "driver's ed" instructor.

💰💰 *~ If my family member is gonna get killed by a car wreck, I’d probably want it to be this one. Since the auto pilot ran the red light it’s very possible they’ll get a big lawsuit pay out.*
your car, your responsibility
Good, autopilots should only be used on long super long driver not in the city not in neighborhoods.
Charge them all especially the ones that decides to sleep instead of paying attention and driving
Car expert lol ... i bet that lady couldnt name 10 parts on a car
Why ?
Auto pilot does not mean autonomy. The modus is on the driver.
I use Tesla autopilot every single day, although it is not perfect, it is amazing. With autopilot on there is 10 times *less* chance of accident than regular cars that is not opinion it is a fact!
Plenty of accidents while on autopilot so I guess that's not a fact but an opinion.
@@TransConBrilliance FACTUALLY , Tesla AP is FULL TIME Level 3.5 , better than ANY other OEM on EARTH.
@@TransConBrilliance That 10 times rating is by actual real world NHTSA data on recorded mileage. Cars on autopilot have 1/10th the number of deaths on a per mile basis than those not on auto-pilot. The real number at present is not exactly 10. It's 0.4/3.8 last time I looked, pretty close to 10 - so a magnitude less.
@jan simonides Ah, but most of the collisions NHTSA and NTSB are investigating have had autopilot disconnect or warn drivers to take control before the crash, as was the case in this video. The issue where Tesla has a problem is the non static differential the AI is having trouble discerning - that's why it's slamming into firetrucks on freeways. That is an issue.
People falling asleep on the road would have killed themselves or others most likely - ADAS and autonomous systems are helping to mitigate that- whether it's GMs Supercruise or Tesla autopilot.
I understand your point. In medicine we have to take conditional bias into review data - ie you can't say a diabetic would have had a good outcome after a certain surgery because they would have a higher complication rate and that may have been the contraindication to avoid surgery, but when talking about complicating factors, nothing contributes to 10x increase in crashes.
The systems are a start, not the end. The machine learning is in its infancy. Only reason legislators are getting huffy puffy is being pointing the finger results in a cash settlement after the fact.
@St Matthew Not sure who you're referring to with your post, but the reason I made my post is because I am a physician. I have done anesthesia on a 17 year old kid who we harvested organs from after he was pronounced brain dead. I have coded thousands of people (hospitalist work) and been the only one in the room when some patients pass and there's no family. It's sad when you're the last person somebody talks to or sees on this Earth. The computers, at least by current data save lives. In fact it's my experience from the ER that lets me know that some humans don't value their life as much as a computer that's programmed to protect that life.
To understand the dangers, you really need to understand how code is written and computers learn. Read about the bit flip that occurred in Belgium in 2003. Yes computers do fail sometimes. Now look at the circus elections around the world. Engineers do a much better job than emotionally charged humans - road rage.
The driver should be held 100% liable. He was the driver and clearly wasn't paying attention in the slightest.
Tesla clearly states that you are to be paying full attention to the road when using the feature.
I hope this guy is made a example to stop idiot drivers riding shotgun while auto pilot is in use.
2 stupid things in this story!!!! First of all why people that lazy to put they life on the line for auto pilot??? and 2 how they gone charge him for auto pilot??? Smh

Tesla Support - Autopilot and Full Self-Driving Capability
Do all cars have Autopilot? No. Autopilot is only available on cars built after September 2014, and functionality has changed over time based on the addition of new hardware and more powerful processing. For vehicles without Autopilot software, but are equipped with the necessary hardware, you can purchase Autopilot or Full Self-Driving Capability at any time through your Tesla Account - and the Autopilot software required will be added to your car.
Can a car be retrofitted with Autopilot hardware? All cars built since October 2016 come standard with Autopilot hardware.
Cars built between September 2014 and October 2016 include one camera and a first generation radar and ultrasonic sensors. For these cars, we do not offer a retrofit to the newest Autopilot hardware.
Autonomous cars are not the future .
😅😂🤣 no matter what, tesla is not the owner of the car, it’s the buyer’s property. The property owner has full liability operating the mechine
2:01 How come they were putting a tent over the car

Drive by wire is still in it's infancy. There was a crash in Paris where the driver says he pressed the brake and the car accelerated, but of course Tesla says the telemetry points other ways, and they can edit the data any way they please. Same thing with Toyota blaming floor mats; it's all just junk engineering.
People hit the wrong pedal WAY more often than you think (all those people that drive through storefronts, or reverse into a building)... And the floor mat scenario is also scarily accurate.
Cars do not just accelerate away, there are too many things that have to go way wrong for that to happen.
If links could be shared i'd share a link of a Tesla where someone hit the wrong pedal and almost killed someone, it does 2 circles in the road smashing into other cars before the driver finally hit the brake.
It's the nature of driving an automatic. This stuff doesn't happen in manual transmission cars because your brain is trained to hit the clutch with your left foot, so even though the bad drivers foot is still on the throttle, or the throttle is stuck, the car just rolls along, engine screaming , with no power going to the wheels.
Funny enough my avatar pic is a 12y old "wrong pedal" incident that sent a car reversing off a parking garage at high speed and into the roof of a house.
@@volvo09 Non electric but, my mom''s hyundai non electric did just that, Fortunately she has one of the turbo manual transmission and forced it into neutral. She could not get the car to stop running at full throttle until she shut the key off and back on. Hyundai says they could find nothing wrong with it. I looked over while this was occurring and she had one foot on the brake as with manuals you can operate all the peddles with one foot.
@@xineohpinakc264 that's a great example of how manual transmissions make people safer (when they are trained) she knew to hit the clutch and just let the engine rev rather than speed away screaming.
The one thing you never find in a true "runaway car" is that it was a manual transmission, everyone knows to just stomp the clutch and you stop all engine power transfer.
Stupid reporting. Negligent reporting. There is no information that the driver had the autopilot engaged or even what level of the system. Bad reporting as usual.
Agree, only Tesla has the DATA , and its usually the Driver being Stupid, did NOT even have AP turned on, and the Driver usually Driving Impaired.
1 vs thousands? help?
Autoplot is just so unreliable, maybe not at all working, under challenging conditions, even though these conditions are 1 in 1 million of cases, they are usually fatal
They only thing i will use thats auto anything is Cruise control lol
1. Auto Pilot is just helping airplain pilot or a car driver. Driver is responsible. 2. Full Self Driving (FSD) is now a Beta sw. Not ready. Driver is responsible.
tesla needs to be jailed also.
That word expert works on all the sheep every time.
Thank you! I think the driver should get 10 years for each person! How could they not take control when they see it's not under control! They should ban these cars!
Nice concept but way to dangerous!! One thing is this reaction time.... Example this crash!!!! No match with eye site!!!
Wat if this car just say f it im going 100+ i got this just sit back and relax o yea throw yo selt belt on!!! Lol sad but true
