seeing as we see slow rick, maybe the squatter rick forgot part of the formula. My theory is that there are two parts of the formula the first part controls the manifistation of the portal in the users home dimension, the second part controls the stabilization of the portal, he got the first part correct but not the second part

It’s the psychology behind the act. Simply having the baby crib there makes the scene look more innocent and bring out your own guilt and sympathy for others.
But wouldn't the hard lined Morty cop just say that to blow it off? What if there really is a darker reason behind it and it's just another thing swept under the rug.

Suffice to say, fucking up teleportation isn't something that's advised. Being disintegrated as your atoms are teleported to just about anywhere in the multiverse is as bad as deaths get.
Sounds painful as fuck.
What's worse, it looked like he was awake for the whole thing even after enough of him was gone that he should have died.

Imagine you get stuck as trillions of little pieces scattered all over and you can feel all of it all at once. It's really no wonder Rick Prime was as paranoid as can be. He stared down the horrors of the infinite. He stepped through the first multiversal portal and survived, and he felt threatened by our Rick's willingness to just walk away from that.
This makes a lot more sense now that we know only 2 Ricks actually ever invented portal fluid.
Every other Rick only ever was given it...
I haven't seen the entire show but this confuses me. If there are an infinite universes shouldnt there be an infinite number of ricks that create the portal fluid?
@@rat2244 one of the main plot points of the show is "The central finite curve" basically the infinite universe got cut off to only contain the universes where rick was smart and morty is the sidekick. This was done by the main rick of the show to pin Rick Prime (First rick to create portal fluid) in place so rick c-137 can have his revenge on him for killing his wife. There is, however, one "smart" morty left in the central finite curve - which is Evil Morty - who is being elected in this clip.

@@rat2244 Rick Prime basically gave them all portal fluid well before they were *actually* capable of making it, the whole reason C-137 made his own is cause he turned Rick Prime down... which caused Rick Prime to kill his wife, so C-137 wanted revenge and made portal fluid independently
@rat2244 Smartest man in the universe is subjective. A god among ants is an ant among gods. Rick Prime stunted the other Ricks' growth by making them rely on him for Portal Fluid, and Rick C-137 has spent most of his life killing other Ricks. That's also why the latter is so good at combat and innovation, because he's been doing the former for ages and the latter because no-one ever gave him the answers like other Ricks.
This storyline is so much more interesting than clone beth and the giant incest baby I really wish they committed to it.

The "bootleg portal fluid" kinda validates Rick Prime's claim of "only 2 of the Ricks ACTUALLY came up with the real portal fluid. Everyone else stole the formula, or got it in a silver platter as a gift"
Sounds like got it as part of being citadel affiliated and those who aren't allowed access are either stealing it or using formulas from sketchy sources
The Ricks of D716:
Variation A: A Rick who at some point managed to evade some kind of explosion that may have ended in a grave injury
Variation B: A Rick from the scenario except in his case, he was tagged by the explosion or attack and was lightly injured.
Variation C: The same Rick except he sustained life changing injuries from the attack.
Rick D716-C is a reminder to the other two Ricks that they could have had it so much worse, which is why he irritates them when he says "be thankful for what you have because it could be so much worse."

The animators don’t get enough credit for when Rick touches, dissolves and the portal closes
There was a theory that most ricks are not knowledgeable enough to make portal fluid, and that the citadel found them, rather than the other way around.
Most of the other ricks were businessmen, tourists, politicians, and lawyers.
Or they couldn't make the portal gun because it was given to them before they reached to that point

I'm glad season 7 explained a lot of things like this one. Only Rick Prime and C-137 knows the formula for portal fluid. Thats why his math was off and other Ricks have to get it from Citadel

nearly every rick in the rick and morty universe got their Portal Gun from Prime Rick (The rick that killed Rick C-137's Beth) and Only Rick C-137 was able to make his own portal gun and fluid as we seen in his cry baby backstory
If this rick had simply got his Portal Fluid math right he would have been the 3rd rick to make a fully functional portal gun

Im sure every rick has the capacity to make portal travel, but they likely just never had the motivation or reason to do so. And they all just had it handed to them so they never really could

What we learned in season 7, it turns out only rick prime and c137 rick are the two ricks who actually invented portal travelling.
This scene also affirms somewhat the fact that no Rick besides Rick prime and C-137 actually invented portal fluid.
This episode always got me not because a Rick messed up the portal fluid. But Portal Fluid could be illegal. Always thought the Ricks on the Citadel never finished their portal guns. We now know the truth and it kind of explains why they were how they were. They were all geniuses, but they didn't have the experience or drive to do much more then hide from everyone else.
So are we not gonna talk about how Cop Rick is so much not a "Rick". He has integrity, empathy, isn't nihilistic and isn't toxic.

The idea of bootlegged portal fluid seems like it needs more attention.
The fluid itself being illegal or regulated on the citadel seems like a strange move, considering it's a crucial form of transportation.
Plus, the crackhead Rick making bad fluid might also nod to how some Rick's were given portal gun tech instead of making it themselves.

After season 7 episode 5 It's revealed that only Rick prime and our Rick actually INVENTED portal travel, which would explain why this Rick got his math wrong, it was never his formula to begin with.

After seeing the stuff of the latest season a rick messing up regarding portal fluid makes soo much sense now
I never realized. That Rick knew about Evil Morty. So who was that Rick that had those secrets? How did he find them? Why did he not come forward with them and instead give them to a Morty? Questions nobody really asked it seems.
According to another comment, that wad a rick hired by Evil Morty to get the morty to try and assassinate him, which would get him pity votes, in turn electing him.

I can't decide whether this was planned as foreshadowing or just made retroactively better because with the reveal that Rick Prime and Our Rick are the only two to make portal fluid entirely on their own it makes sense that most ricks wouldn't be able to recreate it accurately. He might be able to copy the formula if he had some but making it entirely on his own leads to this.

Probably isn't super sustainable. Maintaining an anarchist state is hard, sooner or later a new gov will fill the power vacuum and that gov likely won't want to just let Rick be either, he's prob too dangerous for that. If he takes over, he falls even deeper into government and responsibility which he tends to hate, if the gov collapses another possibility is a fuedal/warlord era until a new centralized gov comes to town, which I can only imagine would be even more of a pain in the ass to navigate.
