    This funny names show that english is really a funny language as amitabh bachchan said in his movie. if we can't use L in almond and J in mojito and R in butter P in raspberry J in jalapeno and so on why they put D in porridge if there is no use of it and why extra E in vegetable if there is no need of it again A in cocoa and again extra O in chocolate I mean why if we can't use them 😂😂

    The pronunciation of Jalapeño seems incorrect. There is an accent mark over 'n' hence it should have an emphasis over that.

    • @govindshekhawat3945

      Exactly ...just like la niña (a weather phenomenon)

    • @Karpras
      @Karpras 3 года назад +10

      Exactly! The tilde on the letter ñ gives the letter an “enya” sound.
      So Jalapeño is pronounced as “Hau-luh-pain-yos”.

    PS:(Things I found to be incorrect in the video):
    Mayonnaise: It's pronounced as may.uh.neiz not maya.neez !!!
    Sandwhich with a 'd' is fine, considering the american pronounciation
    Jalepeno: there is a tilda over n which means an extra emphasis over n
    pronounciation would be- halapeinyu

    Asparagus was wrong along with the others people stated here. It is pronounced ‘uh.speh.ruh.guhs‘. Mayonnaise is pronounced mei-uh-Neil. Lastly, when you give pronunciations of Mojito and Jalapeño, please explain why J takes the sound of the H. It is a Spanish word and in Spanish J takes the sound of an H. Similarly, the double ll in a Spanish word takes the sound of a Y.

      Absolutely!! The way she pronounced ‘Vegetable’ I was shocked when I heard it. So much focus on ‘e’ after ‘g’. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Girl. No!! There is no need to sound posh by making certain alphabets silent. Come on.

      @oops6661 3 года назад

      @@maneeshaacharya620 Actually, she pronounced the vegetable word correct here. The 'e' after 'g' is silent. Most Indians pronounce the 'e' but its silent in the English language.

    • @maneeshaacharya620
      @maneeshaacharya620 3 года назад

      Pooja Dutta I understand that. But my comment was further to what Smita Mishra said above. What I meant is pronouncing ‘V’ correctly is more important than focusing on which letter is silent just to sound nice. It’s always kiss Ws and bite Vs. I hope you understood my point.
