You’ve made a 56-year-old hearing guy cry this afternoon. Brandi Carlile’s music is part of my emotional core. The last real concert I went to with my late wife was Brandi, and The Story of course was one of the major highlights. I just finished ASL 1 at my uni earlier this month, and my prof is a close friend who is a SODA and native signer who was a good friend to my wife too. We met performing in a musical years ago, and music has always been an important part of our friendship. One song she and I really bonded over at the beginning of this year was Brandi’s “The Joke” which became the song that defined 2019 for me, so if you ever created a signed version of that one, well...you’d make a 56-year-old hearing guy cry again. But in a good way. Thank you, Chrissy, from the bottom of my heart.

My friend is an interpreter for the deaf and ever since I met her I've been learning. The community is lucky to have an open spirit like yourself to spread the word. I wanted to take a second to thank you for something I saw on 9gag. Just you insisting that people aren't a burden. That video made me cry, and a few friends who really needed to hear that cry as well. It was nice to hear it coming from someone who meant it, please continue to be an awesome person

I’m 14 and learning asl to become a special ed teacher when I grow up so I’m learning this song because of you! My passion for sign language originally started as a hobby but then I decided that I could put it to good use when I’m older so now I’m learning it to become a teacher so that I can fulfill my dream of helping people!
