Lyrics:
All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true... I was made for you
I climbed across the mountain tops
Swam all across the ocean blue
I crossed all the lines and I broke all the rules
But baby I broke them all for you
Because even when I was flat broke
You made me feel like a million bucks
You do and I was made for you

My beautiful daughter died by suicide in 2014, she was 33. She LOVED you and went to any concert she could to see you. This song was played at her service and it’s so beautiful. Finally we are taking Katie’s ashes to Ireland in September, we will stand on the Cliffs of Moher and let her go. We will play ‘The Story’, and cry. You made her so happy. 💜
My heart aches for you. Blessings on you and your precious daughter.
I'm sorry for your loss.
So sorry for you, no words...Hope you receive great kindness in Ireland
Sending a huge warm hug your way Sheila. May you have eternal peace in your heart.
Peace and love
"All of these lines across my face, tell you the story of who I am, so many stories of where I've been and how I got to where I am". These words saved me during many rounds of chemo and radiation. I was diagnosed with breast cancer when I had a kindergartener and a 4th grader. My boys were so young, I told my oncology team, bring it on, I can take it...I just have live long enough to get them through high school. The chemo took it's toll and aged me so much faster than my friends, it was hard to deal with. Now I know the lines across my face tell the story of where I've been. 15 years out and one boy has graduated from college and one who is a Junior...both are thriving and I celebrate life every day. Thank you, Brandi for putting into words, what I could not.
Beautiful ❤️

Thanks for writing this. ♥

Are you still with us?
This was mine and my husbands wedding song, he was 42 and died 4 months later to cancer. This will forever be my love song to him
I’m so very sorry.
There are no words. Just so sorry for your loss.
Heartfelt condolences and internet hugs to you.
Love knows no boundaries.
Love can pass from this world
to the world of the deceased and vice versa.
My heart goes out to you I couldn’t imagine loosing my wife
LOVE THIS SONG!!!! I listened to it all through my chemo.. I was 5 months pregnant at the time, and I had a 15 month old at home. I had a 16% chance of survival, but I knew I was made for my babies, and I could never give up....10 years later, I broke all the rules, and I broke them all for those two❤
Bless you!

I don’t know you but you kick ass!! Wishing you the best life where ever you are in the world! 🫡

I was feeling sorry for myself but after reading the comments was reminded someone ALWAYS has it worse. Bless all of you
Thats what I tell myself when I get laid of from teaching jobs.God knows why, but I keep moving on :)
bless you. sweet heart
But also your feelings deserve to be felt
not only has it worse.. that is not good: it's not good (and it's no good) to compare pain. Every pain fills the person as it is, as she was. Or as they are. But}. please, be reminded in this comment section below, that every sibngle one of the persons here receiving love and healing have had RESILIENCY. We do not compare each other's pains... But: we get inspired by each other 's RESILIENCY. we get inspired by seeing each other's RESILIENCY.

That husk/rasp in her voice at 2:53 forever sends chills down my spine; it's so powerful.
Hey buddy I said that 1st 😂
Oh God yes
Yes ❤
Great talent but a lost soul like a lot of younger generation. I like her and feel sorry for her at the same time.
@@Venetiababy1 In what way is she "a lost soul"? Her career's going great; she's got a wonderful partner and kids; and she looks happy and content when out and about and performing. Her life seems pretty solid.
She exudes something magical in her voice, something tragic, something sad, something beautiful! Haunting...weeps for the lonely!
+John Hardesty your comment has absolutely hit the spot, she is unique. Loved it.
+John Hardesty well put !
That would make an awesome album title, 'Something tragic, something sad, something beautiful'. :')

OMJuice! WHY!?
This song is about as “perfect” as a song can be perfect. Her rasp, her breaks, her soul crushing delivery is everything. ❤❤❤
She is infinitely talented
I just watched her perform this on SNL, and this was my first time hearing it. Blown away! She rocked it! Long live this type of rock.
same here!
check her catalog so many and her amazing collaborations and covers, you will be amazed.
Same. Never heard of Brandi until today. I love her voice.
The SNL performance was a gripping and heartfelt one....and reminded me why I love this song.

2:53 is one of the biggest audiogasms in history. I wait for this moment every time I hear this version of the song. What a masterful break of the voice. Gives me goosebumps, you feel the raw emotion.
👍👍👍👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🇨🇭🇨🇭
holy shit, you weren't kidding. chills.
Audiogasms brilliant 😂
Listen to the miley collab you will shit your pants
"Audiogasms." An excellent discription. And yes. I too get a chill.
“All of our friends who think I’m blessed, they don’t know my head is a mess…” people dealing with mental health issues can really relate. Great to find a song that puts to words the thoughts you always think
Nobody knows me mental illness is hellish Alison
I think most people feel this way at multiple points in their lives. The other day, a girl I've known for a long time, who makes money, has all the nice things, is organized and type A, told me that her life is a mess and said that i have it all together, so it must be nice. I live with my in laws, struggle with ADHD, and feel like things are falling apart at least twice a week.
🙏🏽🕊️❤️
The breaks in her voice are so uniquely, achingly beautiful and hers and hers alone. No one quite compares, IMO.
I totally agree. Her vocal breaks and little yodels are pure gold. Her voice kind of reminds me of Shelby Lynn sometimes.
@@songbird1307 Yes! And the way she sustains notes…just so, so good. What a gift! Not familiar with Shelby Lynn’s work but it seems I should be, based on your comment. Any recommendations on which song/s to start with?
@@mikamamma I haven't heard Shelby Lynn's music in awhile. She is not a current artist. I had a couple of her CD's in the late 90's. I am not sure if she still records music. She started out as country on the 1st CD that I bought and then went more bluesy on the 2nd CD. She played Johnny Cash's mom in the movie Walk the Line. Literally the only song I remember loving back then of hers is called something like "What About the Love We Made". I loved the soul in her voice. Just talking about this makes me want to explore her music again. 🙂
I hate to feel this way (cuz I love Brandi) but I sometimes feel that her vocal breaks are contrived...not natural.
@@457Deb I get ya…I can feel the same way about certain singers, myself. I don’t feel that way about Brandi, though. It may be because I don’t listen to enough of her songs. To me, the way she so skillfully emotes justifies the aching breaks in her voice and I just love it. But I definitely get how it could affect you (and maybe others) differently.
I can’t believe I am just hearing this this song for the first time. What an amazing triumph and to read the comments and how much it means to people. It’s a living thing given life by this crushingly talented and real singer and her transcendent band. A constellation sublime
I heard it covered by 5er Blech first. That is quite the rendition. I like this original too.
It would be awesome to see the full credits with this video.
From website of Jeffery Pepper Rogers : “Her [Brandi’s] bandmate Phil Hanseroth wrote “The Story” before they even started playing together.
Since her debut, all of the music appearing under the name Brandi Carlile has been the product of an extraordinarily close partnership of Carlile and the twin brothers Tim and Phil Hanseroth. All three write songs and share the writing credits equally for every song regardless of who contributes what (à la Lennon and McCartney).”
my best friend passed away a few weeks ago.. we met in the bar I had started working at when I moved to NorCal over 7 years ago - it was karaoke night and after she heard me sing, she bee-lined over to me and asked if I knew any Brandi Carlile to sing with her - I immediately said, “The Story” and we tore the roof down that night
..the rest is history 😏
we ended up going to see your show in Oakland later that year and it was one of the best times of my entire life - we sang so many of your songs together throughout the years, you have always been our fav
**if you remember the girl at Kate Wolf Festival with the “I FREAKIN’ ❤️ YOU!” sign several years ago, that was me 😆 I was standing with another one of my girlfriends who passed away named Bri, who also absolutely loved you
Brandi, you’ve been my crutch the past few weeks and I want to say thank you, so very much for your words and beautiful voice; if you ever have a show in Iowa.. I will soooo be there!
rest in peace, Em 😌
I'm so sorry for your loss... but that is an amazing story (no pun intended haha)
Pretty amazing how music can bring people together like that and give them memories that they will never forget. That's special. It's actually my first time hearing this song and I can definitely see why you like her & this song so much!
All the best!
Mm
That a very beautiful story . I am so sorry for your loss
Beyond sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend many years ago, and these kind of memories are the ones to hang on to. Beautiful story. ♥️
Aww bless you❤
I cant believe I heard this song for the first time today while driving along the Hudson in the Adirondacks. It broke me and I needed it. So many losses and too many deaths contrasted with meaning barely unfolding and so little joy, it all just builds up to a moment when only something so powerful as these words sung from this voice releases the inexpressible, crushing inner vexation of the soul, and I can breathe again. Even for 5 minutes. It'll have to be enough. Thank you, God.
Dig in further, if this song hit ya…the rest of her music will.
It’s amazing how music can do that to you.
God bless you 🙏
It happened in a similar way for my... I just heard this song this morning, in my ten-minute ride to work... I had to look it up (thanks google for the easy search through the audio).

I lost my husband of 26 years on Thanksgiving, and this song really touches on everything he was and did for me, I love it.

I am wondering why Brandi isn‘t internationally known and hitting all charts. I am from Austria and just found her on RUclips because of Grey‘s Anatomy. What a brilliant voice!!!
Well, the song was #1 in Portugal and #3 in Norway. Compare that to pathetic #75 back home in the US... It's a shame mainstream tastes favor talentless ass-shakers.

I found it ten years ago because it was played at the end of the final episode of Anthony Bourdain's show "No Reservations". Funny how that happens, huh?

+RuthlessXI I know. I get the same way when I listen to it.
+RuthlessXI I'm wondering the same thing. Tears, trembling lip, the whole bit.
It's funny how music can do that to you. It doesn't necessarily have to be a sad song, just a chord, a word or a sentence that catches your attention. That is what makes music so great. Love it.
RuthlessXI 》》 yes, me too.........
I'm 21 years old currently, but I've been through a lot during these 21 years of my life and this song helped me a lot to overcome a lot of things. I lost my parents very early and I didn't have nobody for me.I grew up as a lonely child and a misunderstood teenager, and I had to mature a lot, a lot. Today I'm better, but I have a lot of trauma inside me, but thanks to God, and to these lyrics, I managed to overcome a good part of them. So thank you Brandi carlile! ❤️💗 I am from Brazil #❤🇧🇷

You never watched Grey's Anatomy? It's the theme song!
What can I say is also a really nice song of Brandi C.
videosabia why does it says AIR BALOON LILY ALLEN in the description??
I saw her last night in san antonio and I'm absolutely in love with this song. The way she performed with pink was just something that is beautiful!! She sings from her heart and it resonates. 💓
This is truly one of the most beautiful songs ever written, and I cannot imagine any other voice delivering it besides that of Brandi Carlile. It reminds us that we all have a "story," and our stories are typically a mixed bag of joy and pain, but despite our struggles, our stories are what make us who we are. This is song elicits so much emotion and should be celebrated as one of the greatest songs of all time.
You should hear LeAnn Rhimes version. It is outstanding too. Very strong!

Possibly the most beautiful and meaningful lyric ever written and the singing comes totally from the heart.
This song came out when I was in high school. I thought it was a love song. Over a decade later I’m sobbing realizing it is a love song but she’s talking about herself. Her younger self is so proud of who she became and the things she did ❤
That's a cool take on it. But I think it's a love song
The lead guitarist wrote not brandi.
You're all fucking nuts. This song is PERFECT with her voice; she puts sooo much emotion and feeling into the words, it's all just so wonderful.

Goosebumps every time
@@anna27446 yep, it’s a powerful song.
My mom has loved Brandi for ever since I can remember, she’s been to at least seven of her concerts and I’ve been to three. Two months ago I attempted to take my own life.
When I was in the recovery mental facility for several weeks the nurses would let us each pick a song to listen to during hygiene time, and I always picked this one, every time, and every time I would cry, but for some reason I knew everything would turn out ok. When I needed her most, I reverted to what comforted me as a child-this song. She will never see this, but Brandi gave me a piece of my mother when I was far from her and hurting, and it saved me. Thank you so much for this Brandi.
Bless you, she is a wonderful singer and it is a compelling song, music is the most powerful force in our lives....stay the course Lily, you can overcome the worst by keeping the faith in the best.....including your Mom.
Oh Lily, I also find this song strangely comforting, perhaps because every word captures the greatest losses and loves of my life: the death of my 28-year-old son in 2002, the divorce from my soul mate five years later. I have learned to live with both, but my life is forever diminished. I have another son (his brother) and my love and our shared loss keep me going. Bless you and hold tight to your relationship with your mother, which sounds like a Godsend.
Cool
I hope you get better. Hugs.
Your story gave me hope thank you
I love the hitch in her voice and how she changes pitches. Great song. I intend to print off the lyrics and present them to my wife in a card for our anniversary.

“These stories don’t mean anything if you’ve got no one to tell them to. I was made for you”... That hits me deep.
I can relate Leslie.
This reads like the soundtrack of my 20's. Nothing but pain, violence, poverty, solitude, struggle . . . and one tiny bright spot: my baby daughter. She looked at me like I was amazing every single day. I wouldn't go back to those days for any other reason but to give us both a huge hug and tell us it would eventually be at least somewhat okay.
I cant believe this song was released in 2007 and im hearing it for the first time,. . that i recall. What a beautiful song. Love everything about it.

This is one of 'those' songs. It's just very well done and has lots of character within. The tone of Brandi's voice melds perfectly with the melody. I can listen to this again and again and not tire of it. Long live 'The Story'.

i’m 19 years old and i had this song playing over and over again in my mind growing up, my mom used to sing me it as a kid but as i was too young i didn’t know the name or who sang it… but always had the “i was made for you” and the chorus stuck in my mind.

This song makes me think that when it comes to relationships in general (friends, family, lovers etc.), I believe that every single thing we've every been through has, yes made us who we are today, yet they are NOT FOR US TO KEEP FOR OURSELVES. Our stories are meant to be told! Our hurts, our joys, our sorrows. Even our embarrassment and shame are meant to be told! They are meant for others! You never know if your story is going to help someone is some way! Please don't keep things to yourselves! Be an open book! There is so much joy in telling your story!

I heard this for the first time tonight on some NPR folk show. I just didn't think there were singers of this caliber anymore in the world.
She is every bit the equal of Johnny Cash at his very best.
My Story. When I was a kid about 12 to 13. I used to go around to a girls place and we used to play together. I used to suspect that she liked me because she used to stare at me alot. But I didn't know anything about girls at the time. Eventually her parents moved away to another part of the country. Life got in the way and I forgot about her. Recently, by coincedence through a mutual connection we have gotten in contact again. Many years later we are now both in early middle age. And she has told me about her life and the men in it. It turns out I was her first crush. It's the Greatest Complement a man can ever receive. And she sent me this song. Although I have listened to it a couple of times now. It's the first time I have heard of it.
What a fascinating and wonderful story. Glad you two got in touch :)

+Lastindependentthink Hi everyone. Thanks for your comments. We ended up catching up about 2 months ago. I had to drive for a Whole day just to meet her half way the next day. It was great and one of the most incredible things ever. Once I have a couple of things out of the way we/I intend to take some time off and spend a couple of weeks together..
Yay! Hope y'all had and continue to have a nice time together :)
nice! I wish I could Like this on mobile. It sounds similar to me, but a much longer wait. I had a crush on a girl all through highschool and remained close friends with her since. we hung out one evening together on the beach almost 4 years ago before I joined the Navy and she reached out to me about a month ago admitting to falling deeply in love with me over the past few years since we went to the beach that one day.
I just saw the Masked Singer 2020, and The Sun (Leann Rimes) sang this song. Loved it!Then I suddenly remembered Sara Ramirez singing this song so beautifully on Grey’s Anatomy. Loved her singing too! So here I am. This song brings meaning to me during these difficult times and in a good way.
Then Dolly's interpretation is on another level of storytelling. Thank you Brandi for these powerful words.
I have always rolled my eyes when music fans have praised artists for changing things for them, but I'm 38, gay, and from Wyoming. I get it now. She's changed things. For me.

Who came here because you’ve always loved Brandi!
just heard this song at the end of a movie and came here-headphones on-FULL VOLUME-i love Brandi-no one like her
Maybe the most perfect performance of a rock ballad ever recorded.
Saw her with Pink in Pittsburgh. What a beautiful surprise she was. She sang a duet with Pink that was incredible. Definitely a fan of Brandi. Her voice is incredible 😁🫶
It's amazing that Brandi has a very long career and I didn't know about her because the music industry just wants to give us pop artists without talent. I knew about her because at the end of a movie (The Sweet Life) a song from her is played and I loved it so much that I looked for it on Shazam. Since then I keep listening to her wonderful music. Super singer and songwriter; better human being. I love her with all my being. I hope to see her perform live someday.
I literally just discovered her 10 minutes ago! This song was at the end of The Lucky One (just watched it on Netflix). I Googled it and here I am, lol. It might be my "new" favorite! ~Lynn
She's awesome live! I saw her last year when she was touring with Heart. I had heard of her, but had no idea that it was her that sang this song. She sang this that night and I fell in love with her instantly.
Whatever is was that brought you here, I'm happy you have now discovered the amazing artist that is Brandi Carlile! Don't stop with this song, watch them all! You won't be disappointed. By the way, I watch the Voice and was so happy to hear Janice sing The Story. I cried at her version. Then by a wonderful surprise, not long after that Voice episode aired, my daughter and I were in the audience at a Brandi Carlile show and low and behold, out comes Janice to sing The Story with Brandi!!!! So happy Brandi had heard about Janice singing her song and invited her to sing together, it was an amazing moment.
Thank you! Thank you for not trying to belittle people who have barely discovered this amazing artist. I am only now listening to her music yes because of the Grammys but wow, I was just left in awe. She is amazing.
Wow...really? Janice sang with her?? Any clip of their performance?.
Under which rock have I been sleeping all these years?
She is just amazing - well at least I have discovered her music at last!

Brandi has done other amazing work as well, & is also now part of a female group called Highwomen (a takeoff on the name of the male country supergroup called Highwaymen) ... most recently she has done a new album with Tanya Tucker, both singing with her & co-producing it along with Shooter Jennings ...
I just discovered this song (think I'd vaguely heard it before) and when trying to describe it to my husband, told him "I think it's from 2018" haha. I am hooked!
LOL me too. just discovered her an hour ago and am hooked now haha
Where have I been? I just saw Brandi perform on The Today Show this morning. And now all of her songs are going on my Spotify ASAP!
Sippin' coffee in Oliver's Strandtown Belfast today. I am over 60 and the music was a bit loud for me...Then I heard Brandi's song and suddenly the world seemed to fade. I have not heard such emotion in a voice since some singers from the 70's. She is in my hall of fame somewhere nestling beside my brain's endorphin maker
Anybody else here just for the song itself? She has such a powerful voice.
I remember hearing this many years ago and loved it, then I forgot all about it until I saw the movie 'The Lucky One' and this song played as the credits rolled at the end.... Brilliant.
yup
Me❤🤘❤🥰
Brandi is an authentic piece of talent!
Me. My birthday was Saturday and my sister sent me this. This song fits so many relationships. I LOVE HER MUSIC! SO MUCH TALENT
This used to be my mom's favorite song. I'm only here listening to it now, because I miss my mom.
Anyone still looking for this Nostalgic Song 🦋 its 2024 April 🪄 hope you'll find this again.... 🌷🤍
Lot's of Memories. Such a wonderful Song.... >>> 🦋🦋🦋
This song speaks to my deepest soul. One of the songs I belt out in my home late at night. Thank you all for bringing it to life for the rest of us.
God she put so much feeling into every word like she’s punching you in the heart with every note! ❤️ Just Come back every few months an listen to this again just because it’s that damn good!
She punches you in the heart and squeezes tears from your eyes
Spot On!
All of her music is that good!❤️❤️
You hit it...just like she hits every note. Plus her band is so intense. When she was nominated for the Grammys, she came out of nowhere...ahead of her time and was robbed.
Her voice has the je ne sais quois
I’m here for what some people would describe as selfish reasons but my therapist, family, and friends would tell me it is for compassion for myself and the grief of heartbreak, loss, and abandonment. Thank you to Brandi and her Friends and family.
I'm typing this comment on my Grandma's account right now, she passed away a few months ago. She was so unconditionally loving no matter who you were, She had no hate in her heart and just wanted to spread love around the world. She moved in after my Grandpa died and we all thought she had Many years left. There was no explanation for her death however its safe to say she passed from a broken heart from being away from my Grandpa Jim. This was one of the last things she ever listened too. Though it pains me to think she suffered without the touch of my grandfather I find beauty in her endless love for him and to me it is almost poetic, not even death could move you away from the love she had to give nor could it separate my grandparents. As I go through her pictures and video history I see that this song was one of the last things she ever heard, and it reminds me that she longed to be together with her husband, even though she could smile through the suffering she was in great pain. That pain is over now and my beautiful GrandMother Marijean Thomas is at peace spreading her love for eternity.
I'm sure you are so correct.
I’m getting married to my best friend in June!!
I’m literally crying of happiness. This is my song to her 🥰
I'm getting married in June also! I think I want to walk down the isle to this song 🥰congrats!!!
Congratulations!
I hope you had a lovely wedding and a blessed future!
Congratulacions
you couldn't have picked a better song than this one... congratulations
Here in 2020 to say... goddamn that octave change gets me every single time and I never ever get used to it. She’s incredible. Her voice is.... wild.
my god. that scream at 2:53 moves everything that's inside of me. great job Brandi
we def. need more depressed songs from you
My dearest (Michelle) and I heard this via my brother. He played it during a get together and we danced as if we were the only two people on earth. Michelle passed away 6 weeks ago and this is the first time I've listened to it since then. It sent shivers down my spine and tears out of my eyes. One beautiful song.
❤❤❤
I loved this song before it became a runaway juggernaut. My mother heard me listening to it one day and she fell head over heels with this song. She would ask me to play it for her so often I felt like she loved it almost more than I did. When she departed from this earth and from my life a future without her seemed impossible. I love to come back here and listen to this like she’s still here sitting beside me. I miss you so bad everyday mom the aching and longing never stops. I feel like I’m only half of myself without you. There will never be anyone else like you. I’m trying to measure up but you set the bar too high for me to reach. I can’t hear this song without thinking of you. At least I did get your good taste in music.
Your mother loved YOU as much as this song.
@@benitocarrillo1471 💯💯💯
Your comment broke My soul brother.
Big hug and blessings from México.
" Because love is stronger than death "
I heard it on a promo for the last season of No Reservations and now I always associate it with Anthony Bourdain
♥️
I just discovered this……I’m floored. Epic song writing, Epic vocal ability, Epic melodic lines, floored!
The smile across your face, the crack in your voice, the lyrics of this song, I love everything about it. Awesome
Everytime I hear her voice crack I get goosebumps. You can hear and see her emotions with this song. I love this song.
All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true, I was made for you
I climbed across the mountain tops
Swam all across the ocean blue
I crossed all the lines, and I broke all the rules
But, baby, I broke them all for you
Oh because even when I was flat broke
You made me feel like a million bucks
You do
I was made for you
For you
You see the smile that's on my mouth
It's hiding the words that don't come out
And all of my friends who think that I'm blessed
They don't know my head is a mess
No, they don't know who I really am
And they don't know what
I've been through like you do
And I was made for you
And all of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true, I was made for you
It's true that I was made for you
🤘🏻⚡️
Thanks for all the Words ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🐩😆😆😎✋
❤️🎶❤️🎶❤️🎶
So true, in one ore another way we are are all a mess!
Thank you! :}
My mom sobbing for the loss of her soulmate singing this.. Missing my dad today 6/14/07 .. 12 years later still hurts
Ashley Norris I lost my mom on 11.21.2017 and my dad on 11.15.2018 (8 months ago... on my BIRTHDAY). My heart goes out to you. I hope you’ll find peace somewhere down the road. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Brandi Carlile is the most underappreciated musician in the world today.
She's won Grammys, that's not exactly under appreciated
She’s been getting her props. But I wouldn’t be sad if she made the status of Elvis, Michael, Prince, etc.
@@davids.2703 "Underappreciated" is not "unappreciated."
You're a real wet blanket, congratulations on making the day a little less pleasant....
I haven't changed my mind.
yip
We’ve all got our Story - you are amazing and I’ve had a really hard time this past year. End of a long relationship, loss of my job, a move, and anxiety and depression. Your music has been a lifeline- your love of family and your songs have given me hope and I’m seeing you in Boston in October. I’m coming alone but that’s alright- this is a gift to myself. Thank you Brandi Carlile ❤ joanie
Brandi has such a unique voice and her songs are beautiful and memorable. Brandi is a great singer, songwriter and I love her music.
This was my cousin and his wife's first dance at the wedding last night
Her voice is Honesty. I love the emotion. The perfect imperfect voice with an honest soul. Love you Brandi!
Hi carol
2023 still listening to this masterpiece
Same 😊
This song is an absolute masterpiece, nuff said and hands down. So much pain and emotion that you can feel in this song, and very relatable.
Truly great song. I listen over and over🔥❤️
We see you. We love you.
The lyrics -- and her delivery -- feel REAL, like few other songs. What a boss!!!!! Mad respect for her for having written and performed this 😍😭
Love. This. Song. And her delivery. But her bass player wrote it.
@@markhickey4979 ahhhhhhhhha no way!!!! Well I guess it doesn't affect my enjoyment of her performance THAT much.... But kinda 😩
But the power of it is in the singing...and she sang it. (!)
You can rest assured that he wrote the song for her.
@@Guitarplayer724 No - he wrote it before they became a band. But he said that she brought it to life.
This song has been my song for my husband and I for the last 16 years. We struggled a lot together and I can't imagine sharing that with anyone else. The words of this song describe it perfectly.
Story of my life too many things in my heads they don’t know what’s going on
That's me and my husbsnd of 44 years...only he knows my stories 😥
Brandi is blowing up the radio stations with her powerful voice!!! I LOVE HER MUSIC!! She is very well deserving of her success!!!
This is the first song that The Love of My Life sang to me while playing his guitar. He played it for our daughter the second she was born. He is the most amazing man!! I Fall in Love with him everyday as if it was the 1st time. We were truly made for each other :)
Katie Tynes Beautiful story! Congrats on finding each other! 💕
You’re so blessed... not all of find the ‘one’ ❣️
So sweet
Shit, I think I did too.
That is so beautiful!! Your blessed. ❤️
This song used to come on the radio a lot when I was in drug rehab for the first time in 2007…I’d lie in my bed and just weep the entire time thinking about my wife and 2 year old daughter (she’s 17 now). It’s difficult for me to listen to now.
I relapsed shortly after leaving that place, but I’ve been sober now for almost 8 years.
Happy to hear about your long sobriety! When you have even the slightest thought about going back you have to think about your family and daughter. You will overcome this !
@Galaxyboi32
Thank you! I still have days where I struggle, even after these 8 years…but you have to keep one foot in front of the other and you have to flat out refuse to gaze into the rearview for too long 🤘🏼😜 It’s helpful to ‘recall’, but not to ‘dwell’!
Thanks again.
Hope you're still hanging in with us bud.
I’m still here! Doing well.
I love this song! This was mine and my Service dog/Best friend's song. She loved it when I would sing this to her. I sang it more than ever when she was towards the end stage of lymphoma and she needed more comforting. She saved my life so many times. I wish I could've saved hers. 💔
Loveyou 3:45
