  • The TranSardinia was created in 2009, and it's safe to say it needs some improvement. The route is around 450km long, of which we covered 3/4th due to a broken derailleur. You can find our route, photos and story of each day over on Komoot: www.komoot.com...

      Thanks, Greg! It was demanding for sure, due to the route uncertainty with fences etc. I’m glad we found a way to adjust the route and turn it into a really nice experience!

    Thanks for the route Tristan, just finished. I ended up having to detour the last hill though as I was running low of plugs for my tubeless setup; 6 punctures during the trip! Really enjoyed the mix of riding too. 👌

      @@tristanbogaard I had some but just didn't want to have to pop off my tires and put in tubes if I really needed too.
      Was kinda exhausted as I've been riding for over a month now. Also, did most of your 2 day segments in one as my sleeping pad had a bunch of punctures in it and after trying my best to find and patch them I still has a slow leak, ugh!

    Awesome video! Maybe you can invite another couple in 2022 that haven’t done bikepacking yet. Would be fun. I also liked that idea of sharing the recipes and some good stories. Please ride on this year!!! PS. I cycled in Southern India (Tamil Nadu and Andra Pradesh) feel free to contact me for questions or help. Peace Alex ✌🏽

      Thanks, Alex! Will take your suggestion into consideration. Whether they’re avid or beginner, for me it’s always fun as it gives an extra layer to the videos. Would love to cycle in India some time this year, and will keep you in mind in case we choose to go south!

    Fantastic videos all Summer. Thank you for the hard work it took to make these. I watch all in 4k! You both continue to up your video game, and it was already good!
    Tough question, but did you have a favorite route of 2021?

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  2 года назад

      Thanks, Matt! That’s a pleasure to read. My favorite route was Wolf’s Lair, no doubt. It offers such a diverse landscape, with Italian mountain culture… there’s just something about it that makes me come back again and again. You should ride it if you ever have the chance!

    How did you charge all the electric gear whilst wild camping every night?

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  2 года назад

      We each carry a power bank that charges the Wahoo and our phones, and lasts about 7 days. As for the camera, we’re carrying 14 batteries to make sure we can film for at least 7 days as well!

    Just curious, I've never been to Europe before and I'm planning a trip through Sardinia, North to South, on a 2 to 3 month tour. I'm wondering if you know what the best way to get from Cagliari to Porto Torres is? Was looking at the train but apparently you can't take an assembled bike?
    Also, loved the video, been kinda binging a couple of them!

    • @tristanbogaard
      @tristanbogaard  2 года назад

      You can absolutely take an assembled bike on a train from Cagliari towards Porto Torres-just not until Porto Torres as it’s much better to take the train to Sassari and then cycle to Porto Torres! I know that because we did so, and it’s been one of the easiest times in all of our train + bike attempts in Italy.
      I believe all Sardinian trains are regionals, and because they’re from the state owned Trenitalia the same rules apply as on mainland-bikes are allowed in regionals as long as you purchase the bike ticket.
      Do note, Italian conductors might not let your bike on if the train is too full of bikes. Meaning, make sure that you take a much earlier train than necessary, so that you have more time in case it’s busy (like a summer weekend).
      Other than that, I’d like to wish you a wonderful trip in Sardinia and elsewhere!

    • @Bg563
      @Bg563 2 года назад

      @@tristanbogaard Cheers, Interesting as when I looked up booking a regional train on Trenitalia it seems to only let me book a bike in on inter-city trains and not the R or RT trains (I'm assuming those are regional). I'll have to maybe look into it more when I'm actually there. Either that or I'm just not looking in the right place on the website.
      Anyway, thanks for the info, really appreciate it.
