Elden Ring is one of those games you can sort of choose to just play through and face each challenge until you beat the game, not really knowing what's going on, and it's fine. I personally didn't rest until i got every unique item to try and piece the story together to explain why certain characters were certain ways by the time we find/fight them. The story is purposefully ambiguous outside of "The world is kinda screwed right now. None of the Demigods have proven themselves worthy to become Lord. We're scraping the bottom of the barrel here, so you're all we got. Good luck" And you can just focus on the main mission and ask no questions and still technically "win" at the end. If you wanted to understand the story, some people would point you to the popular lore youtubers, but I always found them to be mostly guessing events with no regard to contradictions in the text and context clues. It's something you need to mostly learn for yourself, but it takes a while.
That's how I've been playing so far. Streams and community have been pretty nice so far. 1 guy did call me a bitch for using only spells but Idc. Still struggled against Margit and red wolf either way. I'm wonder what's next now. I don't even know how to follow the story I'm just roaming around. I love how the game rewards you for exploring. Got the meteorite staff and it's been putting in work for a bit now. Easily deserved game of the year!
@@RealTrueKingsDen Usually item descriptions give you tidbits of information about characters and areas, sometimes the environment gives you some clues. Even with all the pieces, there's no chance anyone will understand what's going on during their first run. Just gotta wing it. Glad you're enjoying the game. Everyone for some reason is under the impression the only valid play-style is with a single weapon and rolling every attack like there aren't other mechanics or tools. Ignore them.
