I can tell that Operator is not for everyone, but the Prince-like vocal delivery is what really sells the track for me. Reminds me of something that he would do with The Revolution in their early days

Melon tends to be inconsistent with rating albums as a concept too, sometimes completely missing hints or failing to recognize reference or nuances that are more personal to a musical act. i love experimental as a genre and pretty much all its subgenres, gecs? an 8/10? not discounting dylan and laura’s talents but their appeal comes down to about 3 club-friendly hits, a meh discography at large, some very specific branding and some diehard ass fans.
This album is really consistent, I looked at nothing about the context I just listened to it l but I feel I got the themes pretty well without context. There’s maybe one or two songs I don’t like as much but some mega bangers like Meteora blues, heaven surrounds us, echolia and ebony eye. Beautiful and majestic album I love it

AGGRESSIVE! BE! BE! AGRESSIVE!" chant starts in operator

I may not feel some of it, but I still respect the effort to do something different every time. This is such a hard album to rate because the good stuff is just so damn good but it feels a little less complete compared to previous albums. 8.3/10 imo lovely album that leaves some to be desired, but who knows maybe the other tracks will grow on me too. operator did.

I LOVED this album, I’ve been listening to it on loop for the last week. It has really gotten me back into a genre that I had little interest in for past few years.
This review is not good. 4/10. While maybe not perfect or Yves best, it’s still incredibly well done, interesting and hypnotic. At least a 7 if not 8-9.
Not one to comment on a fantano video but surprisingly don't fully disagree with this one, as a massive fan of yves tumor's forward thinking and innovative production, this album contains some of the most straightforward and frankly unexciting tracks they've ever done. I still enjoy the album however considering that the singles were not only strong, but were as boundary pushing as their previous work, I would have wanted a bit more out of this one.
I am such a big fan of Yv Tumor. Heaven to a Tortured Mind was one of my favorite albums the year it came out. That being said, I actually agree with this review. This was the first album of theirs that there were songs I actually DISliked.

Heaven To A Tortured Mind is one of my favourite albums of this decade so far, so i was underwhelmed by this record. However it still has some great songs i enjoyed a lot, i’d give it a 7, just didn’t feel as cohesive as Yves’ previous works. Lovely Sewer and Heaven Surrounds Us Like A Hood were my two fav tracks

i first discovered yves' stuff back in 2016 when I found out about vaporwave and heard TEAMS. I love how versatile they are. Insanely talented artist!!!
I always want to like Yves Tumor more than I do. They do indeed have a lot of strong singles though. But I highly recommend them live! Not only did they bring a lot of energy, but the audience was way into it. One of the most memorable concerts I've been to in several years.
I agree with the given rating. The instrumentals on this album are incredible on certain tracks, but the simple repetitive lyrics and the mixes on some of the tracks really hold this one back. I’ve still been listening to it on repeat cause I love the album, but I hope the next album is more consistent and improves on this one’s shortcomings. Yves continues to be one of my favorite bands I discovered during the pandemic

I agree with the given rating. The instrumentals on this album are incredible on certain tracks, but the simple repetitive lyrics and the mixes on some of the tracks really hold this one back. I’ve still been listening to it on repeat cause I love the album, but I hope the next album is more consistent and improves on this one’s shortcomings. Yves continues to be one of my favorite bands I discovered during the pandemic

I’d agree but I wouldn’t put it as low as a 6, it’s a pretty good record thematically it falls flat at times in it but not enough for it to be rated a 6.
