The sprayed surface of gator glide looks smooth, when sprayed rather than rolled.

How about applying 2 layers of automotive ceramic clear coat (like what is used on Mercedes or porsche) on the hull it will be smooth and slick and very resistant to scratches.
Will try it on my 2019 fx when paint starts delaminating.

I have to agree with much that you stated. There used to be a coating made or sold out of Sarasota FL that sprayed on the hull that did increase your top speed . It felt like snot when wet , but did not last very long and did affect handling as well. It wasn’t hard to remove because it often removed itself.

This brings me back to 1997 when i was working at a seadoo dealer . some ppl would drag their skiis brand new 96 xps across asphalt to help it corner. They knew top speed flat water numbers would drop but they swore it would hook better in racing buoys. Odviously i never did this. I actually waxed the crap out of my skii i was a 145 mph drag racer flat water. Had the record in 1996 61 mph

Actually, it was a super common practice among early 550 and 650 standup riders too.

Well said even for those that have no idea what this was from the get go. Thanks for bringing it down to the people new in the arena.

As a recreational rider, I do not see a gain with coating my ride

I’m new to your channel , recently found it while looking at Yamaha 1800 videos. Been trying to get one local. But just recently learned about this `addendum fee’ ? Lol wtf. $2,000 on top. Is this the normal at majority of dealers ? My Yamaha Raptor I just got 6months ago didn’t have this fee.

@@watercraftjournal they claimed this added $2k was cause Yamaha cut back dealers inventory by 30%. Just seems crazy 16k ski out the door is now 21k.

Hey Yamaha can we just go back to fiberglass and gel coat?!?!? Gatorglide is essentially insurance because we all know Yamaha isnt gonna cover a delaminated hull without a fight.

Well, they DID go back to fiberglass for the FX models...
