I struggle with this challenge. Between restarting for doable objectives, and more than half the ghosts for me being deep in the asylum to the point where they never make it close to me without me jumping into a suicide mission to find them, by the time I end up close to the ghosts, I'm surprised and forget what my plan was. Now, after trying to many times, I'm getting better at not being surprised when the ghost finally shows up. Now I need that to happen enough times for me to get better at actually executing the plan in addition to remembering it.
Finally, I got the gold trophy today. My host was the Deogen on the floor, to the right side of the chapel. Very nice to loop around the inner of the chapel. Had to do the EFM, smudge the ghost and parabolic microphone. Can't tell how many hours tried, but at least 10 hours. I'm not that good in identifying the ghosts by their behaviour, so I had to go for the Deogen. I learned quiet a lot, while this challenge. But in the end, it was not that much fun anymore, to be honest.

Can I ask how you knew to take a photo and how you knew it was a phantom? I'm excited to do a 24x for the gold trophy, but I need more info about how to identify the ghosts with 0 evidence and your last video on that is before the update with the new ghosts :(
This is late, but in a nutshell the Phantom is the only ghost who disappears when you snap a photo of them. This is further confirmed if your photo of the ghost is not distorted and also shows no ghost. During a hunt, most ghosts have a very consistent blinking pattern where you can see them and not see them where the Phantom will be more invisible than visible. The Oni, however, will be the opposite in that blinking pattern. It is a slight gamble, however, that the ghost could potentially be a Mimic but the easiest way to disprove them in the x24 Challenge is to spot a Ghost Orb. The Mimic can copy any ghost abilities and quirks that are unique features of other ghosts but I do not believe this applies to interactions with evidence that aren't theirs (like special Spirit Box interactions).
Didn't happen on Tanglewood, but I was immediately hunted and idk how I lived in the bedroom, but I decided I should probably not try this without more experience

How’d you know it was a phantom? I couldn’t see anything. Edit: oh I get it. It’s because the heartbeat stopped and there was no interference in the photo
If the ghost is a Phantom, taking a picture of the ghost will make it disappear but the heartbeat and ghost event itself will still be going. To check if the ghost is a Phantom or it just disappeared, you just look for the glitching effect.
Something I really wish was in the custom difficulty options, was the ability to chose what ghosts will be able to be in your game. What I mean is, I really loved classic Phasmophobia. That being, the original ghosts the original mechanics and everything. I think with the new custom difficulty it is very possible to replicate what OG Phasmophobia was like, the only option missing is the option to select that only the classic ghosts be in the game. I think if they added this future it would make the custom difficulty even better.

So many fun new challenges with Custom Difficulty! This was the refresher that Phasmo needed

My total time investigating for the one time I completed this challenge was 6 mins 19 seconds. 3 seconds away!

I did the 24x challenge and it didn't goes well.
I got lucky and got a Deo on the new map .. still hard! But the challenge are not "active" yet so no trophy :/
For me a hunt started immediately upon entering, and the door stayed locked forever, and the ghost was stuck in a corner, had to leave to retry :/
