Mr Anderson - you are correct that the majority of on base policing is done by what was called the Domestic Policing Unit, now called Joint Military Police Unit. Some reserve members of JMPU are civilian police as well. JMPU conduct all types of proactive and reactive policing on base, and usually at the request of the base RSM or Commander. If speed is a concern, then the JMPU will be asked to conduct speed checks. The 1st Military Police Battalion conducts the other "field" tasks that you mentioned correctly. Thanks for your comments! I have been brought up to hate the MP's - I have heard stories from my family and family friends that dealt with them. Taught they are worse than Adgies. I know that MP's are generally disliked by civilian cops too.
