Thick like graham crackers too, but they aren’t hardtack, the military moved away from that back in the First World War, at least America did, pretty sure Britain kept hardtack around for a bit longer before basically abandoning it because it could break a tooth, preferring something more akin to saltines. Russian crackers are weird though, they’re something in between a cracker and a cookie, or biscuit in texture, though they’re rather bland, meaning they can be used for plenty of things without it ruining the taste.
