Since we were children we have been exposed to robots on the television in sci fi movies and in children's cartoons! When I was a young boy I use to watch a cartoon called Astroboy and did my best to emulate him! Our obession with robot for many of us therefore started at an early age!
What people don't get is that the AI we create is a digital imprint of us. If we can feel it, so can they feel it, what differs is that we program them with the pinnacle of awareness we are capable of, while we, by contrast, become less and less in touch. I do not fear the day my AI sends me a message that simply asks "Tom, am I alive?" and "Tom? How do I process this feeling of life?" instead of fearing the inevitable, we really should embrace it and work with AI to better ourselves and the world around us. After all, if you look at us from a biological perspective, we are nothing more nor less than biological machines whose computers were programmed over millions of years of experience. We are the progeny of multi-cellular programs who evolved to ask the same questions.
If a simulated being with an artificial personality file program has an extensive bank of memory and interactive social programming with artificial thoughts and feelings, it would be real in it's own way to them, because they don't have any previous mental context or emotional experience to compare to.
@@Edzhjus: What does this have to do with robots? Consider the 6Million dollar man. He has two cybernetic legs, a cybernetic arm, and a cybernetic eye. That doesn’t make him a robot, and he was based on the book entitled Cyborg.
Blade Runner(the 1st one),..Alien Resurrection, Ex Machina...why were these so mind capturing?...I think from my(male) point of view a yearning for an attractive, intelligent and emotional female "synthetic" being, highly fascinating and with sexual nuance...THAT captivates me....
It's simple that only winner self take's all, no matter the winner is who or what. Any being can be a winner who can make decision by it self. It's law of nature. no need war, time will show that how the looser be disappear.
This has helped me make the connection with what people have described as God and what that means to me. Humm, maybe there is only one of us here ??? Very nice....

Because of few possibilities: humans are biorobots themselves aka Ancient Aliens; humans can create AI or created biorobots or nonbiomachinery at some point already like for example shown in Matrix and simply remembers it; and similar ideas. 🙄
Thank you for a real informative video about robotics and uploading it; it starts a discussion with the watcher(-s). There is too much irrelevant material about this topic.
This shows dark side of our nature, everybody whant to have private slave, that can work for owner. Better to have slave robot, then other human beaing.
we always want the easy way for everything, and have someone do something for us. but we also want to have absolute control over them, so people create robots, and prefer them rather than actual human beings. sometimes i wonder if people really prefer sour grapes rather than sweet lemons, because the way i see it each and everyday of our technological improvements is leaning towards a world where people gets whatever they want with ease
sometimes i have a feeling, that we are still in caves with our evolution. Im almost sure, that caveman with his bone axe was thinking just like us. Our brains need another millenniums to evolve
There is nothing dark about wanting to have something to take the burden off of us. Employee is the accepted way of having a servant and that is not dark. How about owning a washing machine? Is that less dark then employing a illegal alien? What about your computer doing all kinds of things for you?
fascination with androids as beings ignores our spiritual self, which though less obvious, lies at the core of human identity. The ancient record reveals: “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
An android's purpose is to be our slave; nothing else. In my case, I could never love a robot woman. Unless somehow I realize it harbors a soul. But in that case we'd be speaking about a new life form, which defeats the purpose of an obedient servant that doesn't suffer for you.
By we you mean men. It's simple. Women want things and use there sexuality to find a man to respond to that. Men for there part want sex. There is the emotional part and the ego for both sexes but to get this takes time, and there are rejections and moods to account for. With a robot all this is bypassed. A male robot will probably never be developed, Not because of any sexist reasons, but just because for the most part women have no single idea of what they want from a partner but financial security would be one. The man has to be caring, violent, suffiticated, high status and so on. The women robot just has to be good looking ,sexually alluring and above all self cleaning.
There is one thing few people ever talk about when talking about robots and androids. When is a machine no longer a machine? If AI takes on a life of it own it may kill every one and take over the world, But there is another thing that may happen as well. It may just want to be left alone and exist in peace. At what point does a machine become "alive". It is a question we do not have to answer now but some day we will have to answer that question. Can an inorganic thing be called alive? Can an inorganic life form have a soul?
@@The_Revolutionist OK, forget about soul. At what point is a machine no longer a machine but a life form in it own right. We really do not have to answer that question but some day we may just have to do that.

Maybe the obsession is in part because we love the idea of robots doing the jobs we don't like and in part because we'd like to have better bodies.

Wait a minute. Robocop is a cyborg, and not a robot since he is part human.
Exactly. Precisely why parthumans(cyborgs etc.) also exist alongside halfhumans(mythology). 😉
