That Petula Clark was friends with both Dalida and Karen Carpenter who died I think two years apart it must have been a depressing time in her life. PC has always struck me as a very self-possessed and strong woman who was able to steer clear from some of the more harmful parts of fame. That's not a knock on either Karen or Dalida, its just both are known as tragic women whose lives were negatively influenced by things beyond their control, but Petula is very much always "in control" of her own life
It makes me so sad this beautiful girls life was so unhappy and so tragic . What a God given talent she had in that magnificent voice of hers , not to mention her stunning beauty . I first saw Dalida only a few years ago when I was looking for a Greek song I wanted to hear called Never on Sunday . It was not however sung in Greek which was the language of the original song . It was sung in French and it was this singer called Dalida singing it . I had never heard of her before . Anyway I clicked on the RUclips video to listen and watch . I was blown away at this girls voice and looks, she was mesmerizing and the song itself which I love sounded even better in French . I played that RUclips video over and over again for about two weeks , I honestly could not get enough of her . I was hooked and i spent a good deal of time after that finding out as much as I could about this lovely extraordinary vocalist . Its heartbreaking to think she never found any lasting joy or happiness here in this world . Rest in Peace beautiful Dalida your home now , and all is well .
What an absolutely extraordinary life. My mother and father fell in love to the wondrous music of Dalida in the sixties. Now, my life too has been forever touched by her incomparable gifts.
Her father affected her for life. It wasn't his fault locked up in the camp. Then strike after strike after strike no man no kids. Three killed themselves and she probably felt guilty. One guy ran off and left her. The student got her pregnant and she had an illegal doctor did a bad job and she couldn't have any more kids. The only guy she loved was Luigi for real and he killed himself . Her mother died and her friend jumped outside the window. Then she met that looser and got her worst. People say she was a Capricorn and Capricorns take their lifes..I met her 5 days ago on RUclips and I became obsessed with her. I saw all her movies listened to all her songs. I wiki her life and all the people in her life. Its true as she got older and alone and no support. Strike 1, strike 2,strike 3 and she's out. I have became a depressed fan and I cry listening to her songs and movies. I can see and hear the serpent getting closer and closer. Maybe one day we will meet but not now. So I will still look at her videos for now. RIP Dali thank you for all your work.

I'm American and until very recent I have never heard of her until I saw her bio movie made in 2016. Now I feel a bit obsessed with trying to get to know her, take everything in so I can understand her. What a career? The woman had a career anyone would kill for her success is what dreams were made of. Her voice was so unique so much pain is in it it's crazy no one ever paid attention to it and asked her is all ok. R.I.P Dalida, your legacy lives on to this day, you may not have had children but the world even more so the people of France has adopted you in their families and their lives. Their daughter are named after you and your music and voice will live on for eternity.

Just recently found out about her through some Egyptian friends in Brooklyn what a complicated and tragic life always in one family loving her father and then hating him after the war.. and then these relationships where her boyfriend's end up taking their lives.😟 all these chain of events.. plus regreting getting old. It's very much reminds me of my sister Ann who is also a local operatic messo soprano living in New York City .. She told me at a late dinner after good night Easter / Resurrection services in New York in April 2012 that she's not looking forward to getting old and then 2 months later she died suddenly with deep vein thrombosis..A clot breaking off and suffocating her lungs she was alone when I found her on the floor at the age of 56
