Since i wanted to show this to someone but couldn't find a decent clip. This is the footage from the Pilot where Barry Allen runs on the test track, Assisted by Christina McGee
A lot of people are commenting about how slow he was. I think they were wanting to make him faster over the time of the show, but it didn't work out so we never got that.
Man was great seeing John Wesley Shipp on Crisis On Infinite Earths part 3 tonight, other one of those make a grown man cry moments.I loved the 1990 The Flash show, was such a shame on how it ended...
IDK man it hasn't gotten much better in the last 10 years. The only thing that is still improving is the realism of faces, and it won't be long until we can't tell them apart.
@@SirSoppyBalls I agree but that's a diamond in the rough very few master pieces age well. Another good example is Starship Troopers. Very few films/ shows can hold up over age.
I just started watching this show and when I saw him grab Christina , I was like, "dude, you gotta be careful when you bring someone with you while you're running in super speed. You might give her whiiiiplaaaash."
I thought the same thing but he has control over his speed aura like in the comics so he is able to cover someone with a protective field when he wants to.pretty cool stuff.

Yeah, a few years ago at Comicon, someone asked John Wesley Shipp at the Flash panel if he really ran that fast back then, and he admitted that it was just trickery and he couldn't really run faster than the speed of sound. poor guy got boo'ed of the stage and everything.
@@fistofthesnortstar The Fu-, why! Who's dumb enough to think he ran that fast and get angry to the point where you straight up Boo him off the damn stage?!
This Barry actually ran faster than CW or earth 1 Barry. I believe hit 700+ mph or just blew subsonic to transonic speed. For just his first speed test.
@@CrowsTales CW Barry didn't break the sound barrier until episode 6 of the first season and he was tired from the effort. 90s Barry broke the sound barrier in his test run and didn't break a sweat.
Not a good scene to judge the series by. This is one of the best scenes (although cut short) from the series pilot. Unfortunately, the whole doesn't keep to this level.
The pilot played out like a movie and was really well done. Even had a theme done by Danny Elfman, as this show was somewhat tied to the Burtonverse created with Batman 89, hence why it had a similar colour grading and cinematography with the gothic-esque settting.
I haven’t watched the show yet but it seems like the new Flash show did something similar to how his running looked when he first became a meta-human where it was just a fast blur. I’m wondering did they ever incorporate the yellow lighting with the fast blur? Or did it just stay as the fast blur like in the cartoon?
@Astro I watched it shortly after I made that comment and, I think that show was one of the first shows I’ve watched where the pilot episode was an hour and a half long.
new show needs to take lessons from this. have your character actually run and use effects to make it look super damn fast. none of this cgi shit everyone wants to shove down our throats
Chris Skywalker um aren't you aware that the concept of speedforce wasn't introduced until 1994? This show was in 1990, lightning streaks weren't a thing back then.
Don’t make assumptions like that. Initially when i saw this show, I thought what is with the effects? But then a friend of mine knocked some sense into me saying that i should not judge tv shows by their effects. I gotta say judging this show just because of the fx is not a good idea. Back then their cgi animation and stuff weren’t what we considered up to date now. But it was good at that time.
A lot of people are commenting about how slow he was. I think they were wanting to make him faster over the time of the show, but it didn't work out so we never got that.
Kinda like with the current show, if you watch the first episode back he's so slow he doesn't even generate lightning
@@ethanlappin until a bit later on in the show he does
Plus Barry started fairly slow before the speedforce
Slow??? Where??? He was running over 500 mph.
@@aaronflowers8881 which compared to his current speed which is measured in picoseconds I'd say yeah slow
I used to love watching this on Saturday nights in the early 90s.

This Old Flash is the Best 👍
Totally agree

For me the best Flash adaptation ⚡
I miss being a child...
The best flash series of all time 🎉🎉
I Feel sad after watching Arrowverse Crossover and this
Wow faster than the new flash when they started
The special effects here are better than the new TV show. No joke!
TheNewRiflemanBob Nah it's about that lighting.
Naaaah. I'm all about the lightning, just makes him seem faster.
Honestly yeah
CAP
0:40 the way they said boom
The Guy Well, she's British
true
Reminds me the sonic boom nightmares
30 years from now the effect on movies today will look cheesy like this for future generations.

I dunno... jurrasic park still looks decent for a 95 film, cgi in movies is different to TV shows.
@@SirSoppyBalls I agree but that's a diamond in the rough very few master pieces age well. Another good example is Starship Troopers. Very few films/ shows can hold up over age.
@@SirSoppyBalls maybe because thats not cgi?
This looks better than the new show to me personally (not only this clip, watch the show). I can see the new show being less expensive though.
Wish they had made a version like this instead of the new version they did
No one has mentioned he is running at a velodrome. I remember this show and as a comics fan back then we were pretty excited to get this show.

Maybe this show is canon to earth 3 on the new flash show? Like, this is how the Jay Garrick we know now became the Flash.
Lex's Forehead but she calls him "Barry"
Then recon it.
Jamir アンゲラス He did mention he changed the timeline in Season 3, Episode 2, so...
It's implied that this version of the show is on its own Earth in the multiverse.

Good sportsmanship thank you!!!
Much better without the lightning
Running so fast, that he was chasing himself⚡
I remember this scene when I was like 4 years old
Way better than the new CGI flash.
Larry Sims CGI is destruction porn for millennials.
Gotta say, i preffer this over the lightning trail, it looks so damn messy at times, this one is way better
if you look closley its just him jogging lol

somehow i like this series better, and this is the only clip of it ive seen

Timothy Rodowicz you haven't red the comics have you. He is supposed to have lightning all around him when he runs and how are we supposed to do that
How can his voice sound perfect to the lady when he's traveling at that speed? Jaja
because he doesn’t have to speak at super speed... All flashes have been able to speak normally while running

Well, Barry is better off with Tina in this series...
I STRONGLY agree with you there.
lol the speed effects was soo bad back then
