Cool. Thanks for the reply. I actually took it off to see myself. Does sound a little beefier. Lol I seen a nice BOV on here from boomba for about $130. Maybe add that and a Intake and that's about it for me. Not looking to go fast just want to make the car sound a bit tougher.
Bruh instead of removing the filter and closing the box, leave the filter on and the lid off. You get all the boostyboi sounds and clean air in the engine
No, I did not drive the car without an air filter in place. However, I installed a K&N filter, which is about the same as no filter as far as breathing is concerned. I did not feel any performance change in normal driving.
You could just removed the air box cover and the turbo would sound just like that. I have a 2014 Ford Escape ecoboost SE 1.6L I removed the air box Cover and it’s louder... note the air filter is still attached so my engine won’t suck in any bugs rocks or dirt.
taking the airbox apart u are actually loosing power so suggested not to take it apart did dyno testing with it on and off u loose 20 horse and 24 foot pounds the only one that is dyno tested and proven hp gains is steddas
You do not understand how your car works. You do not remove the air filter on a MAF system such as Ford runs. The air isn't being measured properly so you ran an extreme lean condition. Lean is louder than a proper Air to Fuel ratio. The besides filtering, air filter has the effect of air ~|-- meter where as without you were running ~~meter... Your engine was running like garbage pretty much guaranteed...
Removing the air filter just eliminates the restriction. Since the maf measures the air with or without an air filter will still run fine. If you have intake leaks then your cat will either go too rich or lean
It should just have a bypass pipe going back into the intake. If you plug the intake port the hose will vent to atmosphere and make way more noise
If you take off the air box cover you can hear the turbo so much better lol. That's what I did with my 2013 Ford Escape and I have a k&n filter

Yes, because it's a good idea to remove your air filter.
My car sounds just like this but jerks pretty bad this sound isn’t normal right ? It’s at the shop and we can’t figure it out no check engine light
You REMOVED your air filter? Bruh wat.
+Necrodox lol, just for the video! Air filter went back in as soon as the camera was turned off.
+xKmotx still, be careful with that stuff hombre.
Thanks for the vid, do you have a guide on it and how loud is it in the cabin?
+Necrodox lmfao bruh i'm dying lmfao
I did that once and I immediately panicked and out the filter back in bc I didn't want any debris to cause any damage.
lol... I only had the air filter out for this video. Less than a minute. :)
Have you ran the car without the air filter? Any performance changes?

So do turbo charged cars already comes with that valve sound? Or the dealers put it in for you?
John Popeye That's not valves, that's the high pressure direct injection solenoids.

Israel Cruz that’s what I do

+chevyhs negative. the air filter straightens the airflow before it gets to the MAF to get proper readings. Without one your readings will be wack
unplug the power to the bypass valve and instead of a pshhh sound you get the sweet sound of compressor surge when you let off the throttle.
Bad idea on a direct injection high compression motor
Lmao these cars don’t get that. It’s just flutter and it does nothing to hurt the car. Maybe research before you cry about stupid crap
