Brings back wonderful memories. I was a participant on the 75th anniversary and parade honor guard for the reception at the airport. Had the ceremony on the front lawn of Victoria legislature. I still have my 75th ann coin, my Canadian Scottish Zippo and the cap badge tattoo on my shoulder. It is under lined with "Ladies from Hell". Brilliant times. Thanks for recording and posting this event!!
My great great uncle Ninian Finlayson was part of the 16th Battalion of the CEF which became the Canadian Scottish. He signed up in 1916 in Calgary and died in 1918 in Ameins
My grandfather was an original member of the Gordon Highlanders of Canada, one of the predecessor regiments in Victoria. He, too, served with the 16th Battalion (Canadian Scottish) of the CEF and was wounded in April 1915 during the 2nd Battle of Ypres. He survived the war and returned home to live a long life in Victoria and a long association with the regiment. Happy anniversary to all members of the regiment, past and present. Deas Gu Cath!
Mine was a member of the C Scot R (Canadian Scottish regiment) during ww2 and I'm following in his footsteps by joining the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada
My Grandad, WWI CEF Winnipeg rifles, WWII Princess Mary's Scottish Regiment. He saw it coming and put my Dad in Sea cadets, uncle in Air Cadets in 39. Most of the boys they grew up with went to Hong Kong never to return.
Good to see the Canadian Army keeping in touch with its Scottish heritage.
i hear they changing the name of them. because scottish regiments belong to colonizers not true canadians
