March 6, 1988: Paul Carrack - Lead vocal and keyboards Andy Newmark - Drums Andy Fairweather Low - Guitar and backing vocals Nick Lowe - Bass and backing vocals Austin de Lone - Keyboards
I thought I was seeing things when I saw Nick Lowe up there just handling guitars. Apparently I haven't forgotten everything I love from the 70s and 80s.
Brilliant! Paul's voice and delivery is just iconic today. Pure talent! I adore this track, and play the fuck out of it! I was just 4 years of age when this was recorded/performed.
I'm very surprised I didn't know that Paul kept going in the 80's I actually thought "How Long" was the only song he made. Paul you are a great singer any music I find from you its an automatic Hit!
And... the awesome Audie de Lone on keys - the man who helped start pub rock in England, as well as Andy Fairweather Low of Amen Corner. Helluva lot of talent on that staqe.
That is a good comparison. I would give the definite edge to Phil when it comes to pure musicianship, however I think Carrack is the more talented pure vocalist.
Gotta rant here,.....Notice how bad music got when the singers got younger and better looking???? I mean REALLY, look at it.....Since when have we had an "iconic" song, singer, or band in the last 20 or so years? Do you think that Freddie Mercury would even pass the "eye test" before they even heard him sing? Phil Collins?.....And honestly, The arena bands of the 70's weren't exactly "lookers".....But they we're GOOOOOOD ! SAD!
I was just having that conversation with someone and agree with you 100%! That epidemic is especially prevalent with American musicians and actors/actress. True, raw talent has been, and still to this day is much more appreciated overseas than here in the states. Partly due the xenophobic media influence here stateside , but that is altogether another rant.
Marc Robinson the kids will eat up whatever garbage the record companies and radio stations feed them. It’s all about the look, not the talent....and yes it’s sad! Very sad!!!
slim chance in tight pants... reminds of my mid 20's obsession, Michelle. I was lucky enough to win her friendship, with the benefits. Good Lord, what long, smooth legs she had!
His voice is GOLDEN

Some may not realize he was a vocalist with the groups "Ace", and "Mike & The Mechanics". But this songs kills it! What a great pop hit.
and Squeeze - Tempted too!
I’m early 40s so I remember both but never knew he was in Mike and the Mechanics
I love how Paul was surprised by that one high note, as if to say, "okay I'll take it." Great soulful voice!
This is how musicians with a great vocalist , a great song, phenomenal live vocalist perform…..take me back to the 80s
What a fucking voice...And NO auto tune ! 🤣
One of the best male voices I know !!! When I do my own singing in and outside the shower I am always inspired by the great Paul Carrack
Me too Kurty. Big influence. His "oo" vowel reminds me of Steve Walsh's from Kansas. They cut right through you.
Damn ! Nick Lowe AND Andy Newmark, Paul got the A-Team...
anofi berry wow..Thought that bassist looked familiar.
And Andy Fairweather Low on guitar!
Is that Stewart Copeland on drums ?
@@Theanswerisblowinginthewind Andy Newmark who played with both George Harrison and John Lennon amongst many notables.
@@Theanswerisblowinginthewind same level different Cat
The most under rated singer of our time. None better.
I have always really enjoyed Paul Carrack's music. Very unique voice.
a locked door on a candy store we have all been there. truthfulness at its finest. Just one of Paul's great songs
Sometimes I would like to just go back to the 80’s just to watch MTV when it was about music.
It was a great time with Martha Quinn on Saturday afternoons!
I could literally listen to this 20 times and I'd say, AGAIN!!!!
I watch this performance every other week, the talent on this stage is awesome.
carrack and collins both my fave vocalist !!
This song is amazing!!! I love it!!!!!!!
Brilliant! Paul's voice and delivery is just iconic today. Pure talent! I adore this track, and play the fuck out of it! I was just 4 years of age when this was recorded/performed.
I love this wonderful 80's song! I love that official music video to it.
Takes you back in time to the great year of 1988!!
So much great music at that time!
I miss the 80s so much.....
Thanks for posting this. Great live performance.
+derek schoenike My pleasure.
Koolcat u r 1 coolkat thankyou dude for a great memory
I watch this video over and over and never tire of it. I love the song AND all of their energy!
Paul and Steve Winwood always reminded me of each other in their music styles/genre. Their expanded musical history.
The Uk produced some great blue eyed soul singers. Carrack is magical.
Unique voice and a underrated!
I love Paul's look when he hits that incredibly high note at ~ 4:06. Awesome
Nick Lowe on bass , ouch , Paul is very underrated super star , from “ How long “ Amazing rhythm aces , to solo work .... JAMS 🇺🇸⚓️
I wouldn't consider him underrated because other musicians are fans of his. He has so many fans til this day also.
I'm very surprised I didn't know that Paul kept going in the 80's I actually thought "How Long" was the only song he made. Paul you are a great singer any music I find from you its an automatic Hit!
I'm a woman.....and I LOVE this song....I feel for men......and I feel for women too...........YIKES!!!
Stunning tune🤩
Great. Great voice. Great groove
And... the awesome Audie de Lone on keys - the man who helped start pub rock in England, as well as Andy Fairweather Low of Amen Corner. Helluva lot of talent on that staqe.
Magnificent vocalist....Period...Stop.
Great lyrics ! Long live the 1980's music. 😊 My song along with Janet Jackson's "Escapade" song.
Not very many male singers can match Paul's tone, he's right up there with George Michael
Love the finish!
Blows the studio version out of the water
Isnt that great when that happens ?
What a great singer & song.
The drummer here is a monster! Who is this guy??
Andy Newmark
Stellar band Paul has here all aces.
This song along with Button Off My Shirt are getting me through my divorce! 🖕🖕🤣🤣🤣
haven't heard that in a long time
He does well live!
Me encanta!!!!!!!!!
Mé aqui
The man could sing the phone book(remember those?) and make it sound amazing!
Woah this is awesome!!
you go Pauly!
We saw you in Albany NY 1986😮😂❤🎉😢😮😅
would have loved it if he stayed with one band...would be better-known. But damn...love his voice. NICK LOWE????!!!
A departure from his recorded vocal but Still. Killed. It.
My Childhood san jose, ca 1980s heard this
How enthusiastic is the lad on drums 👍👍. Who is he ?
Andy Newmark - check out who he's played with.
The drums sound better here than the studio version
Andy Newmark really knows how to hit a drum. I remember him from Roxy Music's Avalon tour - small kit but very strong!
@@JohnHancotte His drum playing in ABC "Beauty Stab" was the greatest thing I ever heard :)
@@JohnHancotte Played on John Lennon’s last two lps and wanted him in his touring band for 1981.
Newmark is so good here!
Theres a really vid simeone made, professionally about Paul Carrack and his family. It's really great
The ultimate "I can't have her, and I don't care...I really, *REALLY* don't! (Sniff sniff)" song
paul loved outside another story live good some
Puros capos.👏👏👏
he could give phil collins a run for his money
That is a good comparison. I would give the definite edge to Phil when it comes to pure musicianship, however I think Carrack is the more talented pure vocalist.
Ousama Abdu I think he was talking more about the looks
Phil Collins once said "Paul Carrack could sing the phonebook and still sound fabulous"
I love them both ❤ but Paul edges it vocally in my opinion.
plus Andy Fairweather Low on guitar
great
Nick Lowe on bass!
Pros.
アンディさん、カッコ良い。

Bruno Mars isn't exactly hot!

Gary Skadra. I’m Bev Skarda. Lol.
You know maybe it's just me but if you look close you could almost mistake him for Phil Collins. Underrated for sure
.......he forgot to end it with .........I won't shed NO GOT TO DIE TEARS.....
is that Andy Newmark on the drums?? anybody know ??
It is indeed Andy on the drums 🥁
@@coolcat6303 thought so thank you
Did he sing "tempted by the fruit" ?
Andy Newmark !!!!!!
Eric Carmen on the drums?
it took me over 30 years to realize how much he resembles Phil Collins 🤔
Mark Carasone but with a much better voice
@@excalibur8213 Paul definitely can sing but unfortunately he can't play the drums like Phil. They are both very talented individuals.
Stewart Copeland!
Great song! But hauntingly similar bass beat to Billie Jean by MJ
slim chance in tight pants... reminds of my mid 20's obsession, Michelle. I was lucky enough to win her friendship, with the benefits. Good Lord, what long, smooth legs she had!
上手いけど肝心な部分のキーが残念
Why he closing his eyes so forcefully a good singer should never make faces while singing
Said who? ...Paul is a magnificent singer, facial expressions have nothing to do with his ability
It’s called passion…..
