    • @agongratia5144
      @agongratia5144 2 года назад +40

      Like all extended fight sequences, it was divided between four or five ace animators.
      But the conclusion of the fight, from the moment Rider/Medusa activates the spell for Bellerophon, to the final scene of Saber Alter getting absolutely wrecked, was animated by ufotable veteran Nozomu Abe.
      The climaxes of all major fight scenes in the Heaven's Feel trilogy were animated by Nozomu Abe alone.

      The first minute of the fight was animated by Shun Yamaoka. Hironori Tanaka did the 30~40 second sequence where Rider and Salter are on the Stalagmites. His choreography was intentionally messy to showcase Riders speed and Sabers power. The composition was expertly handled well to keep up with the number of objects in this scene. There's probably more if someone else wants to credit.

      I honestly don't because, to Canipa's point in the video, it felt like they were just adapting the manga like they would a TV show, and trying to pass that as a movie without any considerations for how a movie should be paced. The whole final part of the movie feels like it comes out of nowhere and they suddenly expect you to be invested in this (admittedly amazingly animated) intense fight scene that's happening, but it totally fell flat for me because there was zero setup. They also do barely anything to develop Rengoku as a character beforehand and pretty much all of his development is thrown in right at the end during that fight, which is probably the laziest way to earn cheap sympathy points for a character. They really should have taken some liberties to restructure things so that it would actually work in a movie format; it basically just felt like watching a bunch of episodes back-to-back, and that's not a great thing for a movie imo.

    • @eigenrauflinog9069

      @@maric24 keep crying about that. that's a major YOU problem. The success of the show and the movie clearly didn't made the movie bad at all. If you've read the manga then you will definitely know they can't change anything to the story. Nothing is even awful in the movie as it absolutely amazing and emotional. It totally deserved its all praises and achievements. Keep hating cuz nothing will change

      @@maric24 fair point and that exactly what amazes me, despite those glaring roadbumbs it definitely comes across, its a massive success compare to well structured movie with better production values and high profile people working on it.
      And its not really that uncommon in japan to release such kind of animated movies. Like they screen OVAs in cinemas back in the days and yes they do consider them a movie still.
      Ufotable is no stranger to such kind as they did release Kara no Kyokai and that has more of a high hurdle since we basically had no background with the characters and they started in the mid part of story timeline, but they are still good and still called a movie despite the earlier entries are less than an hour in runtime. But still Definitely a classic.
      Fair critism though. But the thing about the consideration on being a movie part, welp cultural differences so better look up about what they can consider an anime movie in japan and its not that so surprising they have some values that is different from your own idea of a movie.
      Like Japan release Burn the witch as a movie but International streamers divy it up in episodes since maybe they don't think of it as a movie or probably just marketing

    • @maric24
      @maric24 2 года назад +1

      @KEN JETHRO PALACIOS I know lol I think it was clumsily handled in the manga as well. Also I don't think Canipa was saying that they can't alter the structure of a manga adaptation, but that they are unwilling to because of potential source reader backlash. At least that's what I got from it, and I would agree and think that factor holds back a lot of adaptations to be honest. Anime and manga are different mediums, so changes should be made when adapting to anime to better suit the format imo. Also, if something is not really handled super well in the source, I think it's fine to try to improve it honestly

    The last Heaven's Feel movie definitely tops Mugen Train visually, but I thought HF3 had a number of issues in other areas. To be fair, part of it was due to the second movie's poor execution of certain scenes (like leaving scenes of vital exposition and character motivation bizarrely silent and abridged) leading to issues later down the line. But it still really shortchanged Shirou vs. Kotomine, the big culminating moment of Fate. We didn't even get Light and Darkness!
    Regardless, I'm happy that ufotable is finding so much monetary success with Demon Slayer. Hopefully they'll funnel that into a FHA or Tsukihime adaptation lol

    Im sorry but just no. Fate has been a juggernaut for the past decade on Japan, and FGO just made it reach even higher. Saying that this is the first time Ufotable has reached mainstream is just wrong, especially when Heaven's Feel 3 got really close to Demon Slayer.

      I think a lot of people overseas struggle to understand how mainstream Demon Slayer really is here in Japan. It is literally impossible to go a day without seeing it. Right now, it's at Pokemon level. It's at kids backpack level. Fate is very popular among a certain demographic and FGO even more so, but Demon Slayer is inescapable among all demographics. Ufotable's TypeMoon works were very popular for them and helped establish the company, but Demon Slayer is astronomical.

      (Spoilers to anyone who hasn't seen it) For me, the movie uses the train story to explore the world of Kimetu No Yaiba, mainly how unfair the battle between the demom slayers and the demons really is. All throughout the movie we get little moments that illustrate this. We literally open in a graveyard looking at the tombs of thousands of demon slayers. Then we get an explanation of how the high ranking demons are so powerful they've remained the same for hundreds of years, completely unmatched in strenght.
      It's interesting because there are many anime with overpowered villains out there, but they never stop to really explain the implications of what it would be like to fight a seemingly unbeatable enemy. It would be soul-crushing. We somewhat see it in Rengoku's dad. He became a hashira, basically achieving ultimate strenght, only to become disillusioned and convinced that any human endeavor is worthless.
      At the end, these ideas come to the forefront and we see Rengoku, the pinacle of human strenght, not being able to even keep up with a high-ranking demon. This is literally one of the strongest humans in the world and he's not making the other guy sweat. Still, he doesn't give up and manages to save our protagonists. Tanjiro's speech at the end says it all. He's incredibly hurt and heartbroken by what he's seen but despite the unfairness of the battle he's facing, he's not giving up.
      To me, those themes makes the movie really powerful and full of meaning. Of course, there are other ideas here and there like the desire to escape from reality to live out fantasies, Rengoku's strange and mysterious inner life and Tanjiro's strenght of character that manages to constantly save him being more useful that his strenght even.
      I don't know. I just think I haven't seen many action movies that are this filled with ideas and emotions . The story is small and self-contained, but how it manages to be so creative and complex without ever being preachy or boring make it a truly amazing film to me.

      @@shakthiganesh5117 you think so? i thought many moments you just had to fill in the blanks by yourself like they never explain why Rengoku's dad left the hashiras or why his "perfect dream" is this horribly depressing episode. also i may be reaching here but you can learn a lot about Mujan given how he constsntly discards the lower moons making them wish for glory only for them to work as bait to draw out the demon slayers.
      Of course we can disagree on what exactly is subtle and I get it if you think the things I mentioned are obvious or in your face.

    HF was better visually but something feels off about it. The pacing was all over the place and feels half-baked at times.

      Well HF came from the VN, I don't even know how they imagined what and how the battles will look like from Nasu's imagination idk i suck at guessing

      That is the problem of wanting to condense more than 30h of VN into three 2h films with original content included.
      Even if it is well adapted it will be very superficial. And this is precisely the case with HF movies.

      @@catlike9444 also, Mappa is a sheep to the anime industry. Everything that Mappa does, a lot of other studios do. The only reason people care about Mappa over any other studio, like Silver link., WIT, Perriot, Madhouse, etc, is because of one reason: they took attack on titan.
      Yoichrio Hayashi wanted to take it. He knew how daunting it was, and wanted to take it, which makes me have a huge amount of respect for him.
