Hey guys. Currently (1.7.3) there's a bug in which AI will join the war against you because Mexico offers themself up as a protectorate. This is not intended behavior as the military benefit for joining the war is currently uncapped. There will be another Hotfix hopefully within the next week to fix it, but for now you can kinda operate the guide backwards. You can build up relations with France, do the ACW, pass good laws, and then go for Nationalism / Manifest Destiny to get claims. From that point, you should be able to beat Britain. I apologize however that this is currently not working.
I mean, that was a good video, but what pros that method has over "just declare on Britain and back out, since they usually demand slavery ban anyway"? Not trying to troll, just interested... There are some bonuses when you win the war over the evasion of it, i guess, but economic development just reeeally suffers when it comes to civil war...
@@СтавридесКелевра I think the biggest benefits are the more historical nature of the strategy, as well as the government options you get post ACW. You're completely right though. You can back down on Britain after declaring. This video was much more meant to teach some 1.7 mechanics, and do things in a somewhat more "historical" manner. Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it :D
I got around it by waiting to add the extra demands until right before the end of the phase. I wasn't able to get an alliance with France or even a trade agreement though, since every time I restarted they were Cautious. So I ended up having to fight the ACW myself, which was rough since I didn't really pay attention to my military that much lol Still a good and helpful video, thanks!
I would recommend after the civil war choosing options to side with African-Americans. It adds them as an accepted culture of the US and removes Dixie. However Dixie will still be accepted unless you go ethno state.
If Great Brittain joins against you for the ban slavery wargoal, then follow these steps: - Don't create a power bloc in the beggining - Improve relations and make a trade agreement with the British as well as the french - Declare a diplomatic play against mexico and add all the secondary wargoals that you want in the last moment After the diplomatic play you can form your power bloc if you want.
Just wanted to say your channel is really well made, even though i don't really plan in playing as the USA You are very clear and has a good pace with the explanation I hope your channel grows because you deserve it You definitely good likes, favorites and subcribe from me Have a good afternoon mate
I tried to do this on a later patch as the US and couldnt ally France and went in on Mexico, Britain joined and made their demand to ban slavery in the US and that being the only primary demand I accepted and managed to ban slavery in the US in Jan 31 1836, in a SP game ofc
@@DerailHOI it’s a fun and unique play through imo. South America seems like the least played region in paradox games but it’s a blast in Victoria 3. Argentina is in the position to annex all of its neighbors except for Brazil, has to act fast to prevent the Peru-Bolivia confederation, and enjoys states with overlapping agriculture, ranch, and infrastructure buffs. Argentina can also form two formable countries - Rio de la Plata and then the Federation of the Andes. If you plan ahead of time, you can conquer the right states to use the Return State CB to pull Brazil into your plays. It’s a good time. Basically you swallow up all of South America until you can consume Brazil. By that point you’re already a sizable Great Power. I wrote the original Vicky 3 article on Argentina, though it’s been a while since I’ve touched it. On a related note, Paraguay and Piratini have their own unique achievements associated with them.
Was looking into good US openers and came across this. Question: Why ideological union over trade union for power bloc? Trade union is generally better, from my experience.
This video is pretty much entirely from initial 1.7.0 release, and changes were made since then to strengthen some of the other power blocs. Trade Union is definitely better now.
I’ve been planning to finally buy Victoria 3 and the dlc on my next weekend, and have been thinking about who to play. Here I thought the US sounded like a tough one, balancing gaining territory and reform and all that. Clearly I was wrong.
Well that went terrible, gave obligations to France as that was the only way they would accept trade, Mexican war started going down hill since the UK jumped in our their side, and Whigs lost the election. Tried several times but Britian joins the war everytime, how can I prevent that?
I think there is a bug currently that's causing Britain & Russia to join because Mexico is willing to become a protectorate, this should be fixed by next week. If it isn't, you can still do the second half of the strategy (ACW) and then go for Mexico once you get the Manifest Destiny claims. Sorry to hear there are issues :(
If you add War Reparations as a primary goal, the usually shouldn't back down. If they end up doing so anyway, you can probably add 1-2 states as Primary and just take the small Infamy hit. Good Luck!
Is Reconstruction still impossible to "succeed" to keep dixie as a primary culture? Or is it not even worth effort because it has same heritage as Yankee and you want the African heritage instead for less discrimination with pops?
Reconstruction is probably possible to succeed, but IMO it isn't worth it to try to keep Dixie as a primary due to the fact that they're already accepted. It's really up to you in your game!
Перед гражданской войной также можно распустить все полки культуры дикси, бот зачастую не успевает даже ополчение поднять. Тем самым ведется война против 0 полков
If you want to reintegrate the South, you have to keep a relatively high level of loyalists while incorporating the rebel states. If you get Cultural Exclusion this becomes slightly easier, and then try to focus on passing laws / doing things to create a huge number of loyalists. Good luck!
I've tried 9x so far to get any of this to work with 0 luck. Paradox games really are luck based I guess cause most of this isn't working. Can't get the contested government after the election because I'm not getting like 3 of the events you got which ends up causing France not aligning with me during the Civil War. Not your fault but damn if it isn't frustrating
Are you bolstering the Intelligensia? Make sure you’re choosing only events that benefit the Whigs (you should get 1-2 election events at least). Sorry you’re having issues with the guide.
If that happens, you can reload and add Mexican Texas / Arizona to the primary war goal. It may bump your infamy up, but they'll be far less likely to back down. Sorry to hear!
Why did you take Mexican lands without claims from Manifest destiny? They should be cheaper that way. And up to mid 40s you still wouldn't be able to core them. So why pay more infamy? You can ban slavery without the civil war by declaring war to Canadians states, GB will demand slavery banned, and after the war starts, just back down and that's it. Why ideological union, but not trdae? Thought that the second is better.
Isn't it still better tho to let the civil war play out, especially when it can be done this easy, so you can get into reconstruction and get the african-american heritage? Agreed on the Mexican war, especially when you can just research Nationalism and conquer the lands cheaper. In the meantime you can use the infamy to snag some nice protectorates around the world. Or at least that's what the meta was in 1.6 IIRC.
You can swap to trade league the moment you get your post ACW laws done, that's completely up to you. Doing this without Manifest Destiny IMO is better because you get the claims at a specific point regardless, and at least this way it's already done and you've already dropped down to like ~10 or less Infamy! You can ban slavery that way as well, but IMO that's a bit less fun and is a bit gimmicky. Plus I could be wrong but I dont think you get Reconstruction that way. This game is really up to you, and that's one of the benefits of Victoria 3. I appreciate your comment. Thank you for leaving this here & putting so much thought into it :D
Looking into it, it might be due to a bug that will be patched next week. For now, AI can be swayed to join due to military power no matter their size, whereas there's supposed to be a cap of +50 for military power. Sorry that this is affecting the guide potentially.
@@HudsonsBayCompany. Yeah it's a bug at the moment. I think downgrading to 1.7.1 would resolve the issue. It's up to you if you wanted to do that or wait for 1.7.4 next week.
If Mexico accepts your main target, you can add 1-2 of the smaller states onto the primary war goal, and they’ll usually refrain from backing down. If your party is losing elections after promoting mazzini to an agitator position, specifically choose events reducing the momentum of the Democrats & increase momentum of the Republicans. Good luck!
if you finish the civil war this early you cant complete reconstruction, which if you do you can get africans as accepted pops without going multiculturalism and it makes integrating african states much faster. would definitely wait
The GDP is lowered temporarily, with the benefit of being able to get whatever laws you want (swapping to Laissez-faire gets you a lot of GDP very quickly) With regard to getting Mexico after you gain the claims, you still end up getting the claims on them once you research Nationalism, and then integration becomes incredibly easy.
