    Great comment about double-gasketing on the oil filter. I have that t-shirt. I did a first oil change on friend's new Jeep (Hemi engine). Factory puts the oil filter on dry, and I missed that gasket was stuck to block. Did the oil change and friend drove away - but came right back when oil pressure light came on. Luckily no damage other than huge mess. Learned big basic lesson.

    Good video, would recommend to first do the oil filter until its just dripping then pulling the drain plug, lets air into the oil filter housing and dirty oil from there drain to the pan :)

    • @DayOffDIY
      @DayOffDIY  Год назад +1

      Absolutely, I do the same on most cars, just didn’t have another drain pan handy and did it backwards lol. Good advice though! Thanks for watching

    I see you don’t prefill your oil filter. Any reason why? Does it hurt to do so?

    • @DayOffDIY
      @DayOffDIY  Год назад

      Never felt it was too necessary, spoke to my diesel mechanic and he doesn’t think it’s necessary to pre fill oil or fuel filter. You can! But I dont

    I have the same truck and I noticed your oil pressure gauge was reading near 90 at idle. Mine shows about 20 at idle and around 60 under throttle. Is that normal or is my gauge bad? It wouldn’t be the first Delphi gauge to take a dump in one of my chevys

    • @DayOffDIY
      @DayOffDIY  8 месяцев назад

      Depends on if the truck is cold or not. A few gauges have failed on me too, had to solder in a new motor for the Speedo, still need to do the tachometer
