Years ago, there was an article in the NY Times about never released video footage of Miles Davis in the studio during the recording of Kind Of Blue. The video was available on this new website called RUclips. I thought it was the most amazing thing ever. RUclips has made it possible to travel through time. Stan and Chet are no longer with us, but RUclips just took me to Stockholm in 1983 to see them live. Art never dies or gets old... It's just waiting to be rediscovered. Thanks for posting.
I had concert tickets to see Stan Getz, and then he passed away. Somehow I missed Chet Baker until Laufey started talking about him. What an amazing artist. Yes RUclips is a gift.
coming back from office, having lost quite a sum of money on future option contracts, so what? i fix myself a drink and relax with Chet Baker while neon lights go on and off and all losses are smoothly being washed away, on this very rainy day. Many thanks for sharing this beautiful song
No disrespect AT ALL but your post brings to mind a Raymond Chandler story. Hope all is well since and keep Chet on the turntable as you slolom through it all 🎶🎺✌️

I saw him only for one concert in Chateauvallon (France, near Toulon) in 1977 ? don't remember exactly but impossible to forget him : a giant of the tenor sax ! for me the best in the world without hesitation. He was just a genius.
Stan and Chet at their finest. It' s almost a miracle how Chet was able to play like with visibly so much broken. But his melody lines seem to stay so pure.

I saw Stan Getz in Sausalito years ago, but I never got to hear Chet live. I was always working myself as a musician so didn't gt to go to concerts. But I later learned to love Chet's music as well, and still do. Both are gone now, as are many of the greatest talents of that era. I think the 1960's to the mid- to late 80's gave us some of the greatest talents in music ever seen or heard. Thank goodness they left us their recordings so we can hear them forever.
Désolé je ne parle pas anglais , mais sa ne m'empêche pas de dire que Stan Getz est un grand bonheur pour moi car sa musique me reste gravé dans mon cœur 💓 bravo Stan👍
Wow! That’s musical artistry at its very best! We all know how amazing Stan Getz and The Prince of Cool are, but kudos to the drummer who did just enough magnificently.
One night in the early 80s I was wandering around on foot through Chicago’s entertainment district. I did not know the city but was aware of its musical legacy. My esrs directed me to a small downstairs club, a cocktail bar seating maybe 40. The ideal after-hours club. As if on cue, out came onto the tiny stage Stan Getz and his trio. Over the following hour I was transported by moody music appropriate for that time of night. This kind of unplanned synchronicity is what makes being in a big city worthwhile.
I heard Stan Getz many, many years ago in Sausalito, superb! I've only been a fan of Chet's in recent times, when I learned to recognize what a terrific talent he was. Sorry I never got to hear him in person, his music is truly one of a kind. It portrays the very soul of the man when he performs, subdued and sensual. Two very different, gifted artists who made good music together..
M.J. Leger I had the huge pleasure of spending time with Chet when he was down on his luck and would do a once a year stint in Toronto in the 80's at a duo club called bourbon street/basin street on Queen Street at University Ave. It was magical. He was very much dependent on hard drugs but once he had his fix he would play until they turned off the lights. I saw him play drums for one set!
It's Jim McNeely on piano, George Mraz on bass and Victor Lewis on drums. The two tunes were the final cuts on the Stan Getz & Chet Baker - Line For Lyons LP. They are also on the Stan Getz - The Stockholm Concert CD with bonus cuts.
Stan and Chet - two of the most beautifully lyrical and expressive players ever and together, it really doesn't get any better. I'm trying to wipe my tears away as I'm writing this comment 😢
Paul D chet baker’s axe is an extension of his vocals, or perhaps it’s the other way around. Pure, simple and oh so mellow. The angels are happy in the big jam session in heaven!
