    The other thing for the missile launcher is that the consistent damage 3 breakpoint is really important for killing things like custodes, terminators, and other simmilar enemies. I think the consistency is way more important in this context than shooting dreads, tanks, or other armor platforms. I appreciate you mentioning the flexibility in split firing

      Great callout! There is a ton of value in damage 3 shots that shouldn’t be neglected

      it depends on what you take your sagitaurs for. i'd say it's among our most efficient anti tank options. missile launchers arnt bad by any means, but i prefer them in their anti tank config for that reason. alas, it's a sign of good balancing when you can discuss what the best loadout is.

      @@stefanw6665 in all fairness I find I don’t have a use for the d6 shots because of my local meta. It’s a lot of infantry and mounted units with the occasional dreadnaught or rogal dorn. I’m sure in a more diverse meta the high las is a better take

    All i want to change in the codex for the Sagitaur is that Grimnyr corvs dont count for capacity and just attach to the back or some nonsense. Grimnyrs only joinable unit is warriors and if they do they have to footslog it.

      Same here, feels really bad to not be able to bring some combination of units along for the ride due to their little drones

    Doesn't the HYLas actually have a damage cap of 48? There's 2 shots with sustained hiits D3 making both able to convert for 4 hits each, so 8 hits times 6 for 48. It can spike even higher!

    • @BeardHammerGaming
      @BeardHammerGaming 5 месяцев назад +1

      Statistically that's a near impossibility. I'd be curious of the actual percent chance of happening though.

    • @VotannVersus40K

      100% correct, thanks for calling that out! Looks like I only calculated the 3 extra shots from sustained hits on only 1 attack and missed the other

    You forgot to mention that HYLas is the weapon choice of the dreamer, and missile launchers are for cowards.
    I can’t say I’m kidding but great work as usual

    Great video! I've been really interested in the Leagues of Votann since they launched. I like their esthetic more than the space marines I had started with and your videos have been a great resource on learning how to better play them. It has really made me want to build out the small force I have even more!

    22:20 I really do like that you math hammer this - don't get me wrong.
    However, you look at the stats in isolation.
    When choosing a weapon profile you need to choose in the context of the entire army that you play. Yes, I know you litterally said in the video "it depends on the list you are playing", but as I see it it, it is much easier than that.
    You can just look on votann as an archetype and you see that they do struggle into some meta matchups, and with selecting the right weapon here you are able to smooth these out a little bit.
    As I am thinking atm the missile luncher might be the better option because votann are able to focus big things down pretty easily - right? But against MSU armies with many low toughness models (maybe drukhari) we struggle a little. So picking something with higher range and the option to clear more of low toughness models seems more interesting to me.

      That’s a valid point for sure. I do try to capture this by representing all possible target profile characteristics on one sheet for my analysis. Like you said, there are a lot of moving parts and context is certainly important, but the meta changes and I feel that holding the basis for the conversation on specific archetypes + matchups can get tedious for the viewers (too long) and also might not remain relevant (will change).
      My goal with these types of “grid” view stats is to allow for quick touch points on different profiles while also facilitating the viewer’s application to context specific matchups
      Hopefully this clarifies my rationale!

    If memory serves the MatR was the weapon of choice back in 9th

      Very possible! I joined the Kin partly into 10th, so the MATR must have been a relic of the past

    Just a small correction, the "split the warriors" ability IS on the sagitaur, in the transport section.
    Also, do we split the unit before or after assigning leaders? Cause having 2 5 men squads plus leaders is actually very tempting

    • @VotannVersus40K
      @VotannVersus40K  5 месяцев назад

      Great call out, thanks for that!
      Regarding the order, it looks like you declare leaders first and then the transports. So no dual khals unfortunately :(
