I am old enough to remember when bone broth was available in most butchers, then it disappeared and you could not buy it anymore. Along with beef tallow, the consumers stopped buying it after the medical profession said it would raise cholesterol. We all know now that the science was flawed, the Chinese have been using Chicken Bone broth as the mother stock for 1000's of years. Good to see it making a comeback.

I make my own bone broth. I get organic pasture raised baby rib, bone marrow, oxtails at whole foods market. I added onions garlic ginger cardamom and cinnamon. The broth taste like pho soup. If you add miracle noodles, it tastes exactly like pho. I love the oxtails broth, so tasty. I break my fast every day with a bowl of broth. Very satisfying.
Kait, I heard some people recommended not to remove the fat when cooking broth because it's healthy? but I concern raising cholesterol with too much fat.
I just started drinking broth for a week. Acid reflux gone, sleep better, vision improved significantly, and hair is shiny and bouncing. Eat less and no hunger feeling.💕

Bone broth has been the staple food of Filipino families like ours. Look up recipes of “Sinigang” & “Nilaga” & you’ll understand why. I believe the Mexicans have similar recipes in their cuisine. Hot soups are good for the body & like the video says, mankind has been consuming bone broth for thousands of years.

Bone broth is literally just stock. The difference stock and broth is that stock is made with bones. Traditional broth is not, just meat. The bones and cartilage have the gelatin, if you chill it overnight and it shakes like jello in the morning, you did good. 👍

I’m 67 and started making my own bone broth from bones of lamb, oxtail, knuckles of cows all from the local farmers market adding a whole beet, onion, pink salt and pepper. I roast the bones 30 minutes each side, before adding to the stainless steel pot, covered with water, bring it to a boil, then turning the heat to low for 24 hours. Let it cool strain into glass jars then refrigerate it will seal itself with the solid fat at the top of the jar to last up to 2 weeks. If not enough fat on top then freeze it. I save the fat and use it to cook with. Only been doing this since Oct 2021. I drink it and cook with it. Skin is better, sleeping 8 hours without needing to get up in the night most night now. I don’t eat processed foods, only grain is corn, no gluten, no pasta, bread or fowl, chicken, Turkey or eggs. Lately been able to by local venison meat of bore, buffalo, lamb. All veggies. 107 # and maintainability on this diet. In 2020 after lock down I was 127# drinking tequila, eating ice cream and no physical actives. May of 2021 started drinking celery juice and cucumber juice along with my current diet without bone broth. Walking, swimming now pickle ball, after moving.

hopefully it will help with healing my gut and fix mysuddenly developed what looks like an autoimmune disorder in august of 2020. just literally turned on over night. was fine one day and BOOM just activated. may have had it on small scale for years not realizing what was going on. was a fit active former athlete and became a shell of myself after 4 months of pain and inflammation. all of my blood tests were fine except for abnormally high inflammation marker or Rheumatoid Factor. 106! normal is between 0-19. saw a rheumatologist who prescribed a 10 day course of high dose prednisone and a week after I finished that my weight just started going down 8-9lbs a month with no loss of appetite. started having more nerve pain and joint pain and getting weaker as I lost about 35-38lbs over the next 3-4 months. became reactive to foods I previously ate with no issues. lost many many nights of sleep which accelerated and facilitated in the fast breakdown of my body. I believe the steroids further damaged my digestive tract . it's been a long torturous year and 8 months. since I began my healing journey. elimination diet, fasting, OMAD and tons of supplements along the way. apparently have some spinal issues which may be the culprit in everything starting my "leaky gut" many years ago. I've had a mid back pain for over 12 years that docs could never figure out or give me answer as to what was causing it. now my spine is on fire at times.
also my cervical spine. I've even lost function in my arms it has gotten so bad before. I've finally started making some small progress the last 5 months and hopefully sticking with the bone broth regimen will help me improve even more especially with my gut and joint issues. I'm getting a little sleep now with the help of magnesium glycinate but still not enough deep restorative sleep. I'm getting a little stronger and able to exercise a bit at a time now. but I've seen that months of hard work and progress can go down the drain after one night if I eat the wrong thing. it's crazy how that happens.
the fact that I've seen great improvements at times gives me tremendous hope that the body can repair and heal if given the proper nutrients /vitamins /minerals!

How does the bone broth bought at the store, compared to what we make ourselves

    • @HealthCoachKait

Store bought is good, but depending on the brand some have a lot less collagen. You can tell it is high in collagen if it is jelly when it is refrigerated and not liquid.

What are the opinions of adding beef gelatin powder to coffee.

You can do that if you want! That won't give you all the benefits of bone broth but just the ones related to collagen 🤗

Anyone know if you get the same benefit from jelly/jello? I use one that only has beef gelatin, sucralose and flavouring 0carbs 0fat but 1g of protein, I just really hate the taste of bone broth!

    Great tips!
I don’t eat enough health food.
But since I moved out on my own I been cooking more
One my favorite thing to make is homemade chicken noodle soup, or I just use the whole chicken for shredded chicken and use the bone broth for something else.
