- Salty has decided to set himself a challenge. The challenge is to beat Pop in there fishing competition using the cheapest rod and reel combo he can find.
So it's off to his local Kmart to find his fishing rod before heading out the next day to put it through it's paces.
But the big question is, who will win, Pop or Salty?

Does anyone remember when kmart had more than 1 aisle of fishing gear and actually sold quality name brand gear
I do remember buying most of my fishing gear there as a kid
But I think that's just showing my age

I once bought a small bait rod on sale for $2.50 at Kmart, it turned into the best squid rod I ever had, caught about 60 squid on it before the tip got caught in something and snapped off. I think it was how it pulled the jig.
Yep this one certainly has a very soft action and a ton of stretch in the line
It would probably make a good squid rod aswell.

Mate I bought one of these 15 years ago and I still take it to shark bay every year. I swapped the reel for a small Shimano with 40 pound braid and it hasn't skipped a beat! I use it for smaller bait fish and catch occasional blue line emperors and pinkies. Deadliest rod I ever had!
I'd love to see some land based fishing mixed in once in a while for those of us without boats.
