    Merritt tool is the only tool I've been using for the past 3 years. 6mm, 8mm, 17mm. Most compact, lightest and no loose parts. As far as quality goes, I had the same one for 1.5 years until I lost it on a trip. Never used any of the other ones so can't give a fair comparison but it is perfect for riders on the go.

      Best pocket tool. You can use regular home tools if you want to have all the other mostly unnecessary odds and ends. I keep a spoke wrench on my keychain and if I need to break my chain, Im having a bad day and most likely going to need to do some tedious work that Id rather fo at home.

    The merit tool is amazing, can definitely happily ride with it in your pocket as it folds down and is light. The only downside is that because it is small you don’t get much leverage to get your wheel tight. I unfortunately lost mine and now use the tall order, not as compact and a bit annoying in your pocket, but it does give you more torque and the low price is a big plus point.

    I have plenty of tools around, as I work on cars... but just ordered my son's first BMX, and got one for myself as well, so I can ride bikes with the kids.
    I am thinking of buying the Shadow tool, aside from that is there anything else you think I should also pick up to get us started?
    I know if we get heavy into bikes, there's probably a few other specialty tools for at home, and some better workbench options to perform the functions the Shadow tool handles, but any other things you think we should get?
    For family bike trips, I am also looking to get some tubes, patch kit, a small pump, chain, etc... to outfit a kit to throw into a backpack...

    Best way to avoid most flat tires ive found is
    MORE PSI. 85 to 90 psi on a 2.1 glh got no flats ever just rolls over glass like nothing.
    Big soft tires are guaranteed to puncture much easier.

    • @OurBMX
      @OurBMX  4 года назад +5

      For sure, but 80psi+ is just a really, really unpleasant pressure to run. Soft tires makes balance points larger and is easier on your wrist/ankles.

    • @OurBMX
      @OurBMX  4 года назад +1

      That’s your axle size. You need to know what size the bolt is attached to the axle. On most (literally 95%) bmx bikes, it will be 17mm.

    On the shadow multitool it doesnt come with a replacement pin for the chain breaker,its actually the alignment pin for the chain breaker that goes in the back end for when putting the chain back together to keep it alligned,just saying

  • @seanlowkey9388
    @seanlowkey9388 Год назад +1

    I don’t think that’s a spare pin. I believe it’s an alignment tool. It goes in the other end as you push pins back into the chain. At least if you watch the shadow chain breaker video that’s what they use it as.
