this is so sad because mojang probably announced the cherry tree biome and the tree itself AFTER she finished building a lot of this Edit: yes I know she acknowledges it later I commented this before I saw that part of the video. When mojang starts releasing snapshots for an update it’s generally supposed to be released either in summer or winter. That’s how their update schedule works. If you really want the hermits to end season 9 earlier than necessary to start a new world on 1.20 then look forward to the season ending prematurely in June🤷🏽♂️
As someone who has built something similar on survival several times, I can attest to how much work this is. I had bird houses hanging from it for my base and I used glowstone for lighting. This was before lanterns and I hadn't built a farm at the ocean monument, yet. Your tree really brings the whole build together. Adds that something extra to it, makes it feel alive.
You mentioned having the roots submerged in water and thinking of some lore around that. It would be cool if the tree was somehow the source of it's own water, maybe it could be a portal to a flooded region where cherry trees used to grow.
I like that this video and some recent ones are styled as a good introduction to Hermitcraft, it can be harder to get into a new series if it has a lot of episodes to watch first so this is probably helping a lot of new viewers! Also it's so cool that you were in the middle of making this amazingly beautiful custom cherry tree when they announced the new ones for Minecraft, it reminds me of last season when False built some frogs in her swamp and then I think immediately after that episode came out was the Minecraft Live where they announced frogs and stuff, it really shows that the developers know what the players want!
I’m currently on something of a binge of brainstorming terraforming and original biome or terrain-feature concepts. One of the things I love about watching Minecraft RUclipsrs like Gem, is the nature-based ideas they come up with and sometimes the levels of detail they add where I really wish terrain could naturally generate with that sort of detail.
Gem's cherry tree was so amazing that it made cherry trees manifest in vanilla minecraft. The medium sized trunk and outwards branches are the same too, between this build and the ones added in the snapshot. That's insane and that organic is amazing.

I finally found someone who i relate to, and have a similar building style. Absolutly in love with this castle, and your content. You're truly a Gem. When the minecraft cherry trees come out, Gem should definitely add that into the build. The leaves, the falling cherry blossoms, purple and pink logs, flowering carpet, it would add well to this. Gem should also add those flowing spore blossoms and a few azalea bushes for a spattering of green, the effects of these with the new cherry tree effects will be dazzling.
The level of detail and dedication to that tree is AMAZING! Absolutely stunning organic build, and it fits the vibes of the elven palace so nicely. The contrast of the darker wood and the pinks against the lighter sandstone and birch and the blues really makes the tree stand out. I love how all of the different pink blocks mix and blend so nicely in the leaves. Truly a magnificent addition, you should be really proud! I also got to play my new favourite game while watching: spot Doc trying to anvil the hermits lol
Gem, I spent 10.5 hours in brain surgery on Valentine's Day and I CANNOT EXPRESS just how glad I am that you spent that time making a cherry tree in Minecraft. It is GLORIOUS. 🥰 I even had enough brain power to watch your whole video, which is in view, is another miracle.
As soon as the new update is out, the cherry blossom tree can get particles from the leaves and have cherry blossoms at the base of the tree, making it look way better, funny how minecraft timed it perfectly with announcing it in the update.
You could have a few of the pink leaves falling from the tree across your castle and village to help make it seem like a real cherry blossom tree that's part of the environment, just an idea :)
No puny vanilla tree could ever top yours, Gem! This is so gorgeous!!! If you guys do get cherry wood, though, the pink wood and leaves would be amazing accents!! Imagine the fences being pink instead! The flowers for the ground too. Meanwhile though, right now you could add spore blossoms in some key visible areas for that little extra detail. A suggestion. You could add chains with lanterns on your tree for some extra light sources and style. They would certainly compliment your already awesome looking tree.
Given that this is framed as sort of a mid-season intro to the season I think it would be more than fair to mention that Gem is a 50% owner of the prismarine farm AFAIK, since she built it with Stressmonster as a co-op project. Maybe a bit more for those exteriors PS: What a lovely tree

I made a giant oak custom tree in my survival world (with the inspiration and lessons from Gem's amazing talents) and it was about half of the size of her cherry blossom tree. It took so much more wood and time than I thought...so I am so amazed by your commitment and dedication to your ideas! Your whole base looks like something out of a fantasy book! Love you Gemini!
I have a suggestion if you want to add more pink into the mega base, what If you build mini Sakura trees around the base? And maybe some crimson plants like a mushroom or something? Also for another thing I have seen, maybe you could add some hanging soul lanterns in the sky? I think it would look very pretty and match the blue coloring of your base.
If i had a nickel for everytime a hermit has created something or a build which uses other materials to showcase the look of something just about to be added to minecraft, I'd have 2 nickels which isn't a lot but it is wired that it happed twice (gems tree right before the update and bdubs copper castle right before the update)
GEMMM!!!! This tree is SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL that you don't even need to add the actual cherry blossom leaves when they come out. Obvi you can if you want to, but this is already SO pretty and I'm so attached to it. Whether you choose to leave it as is or change it up, it, like everything you make, is gorgeous regardless! ❤
Hermit bases are always great, but sometimes they're so great that they capture your heart. Your base was absolutely stunning, but with the tree added it stole my heart. It's a masterpiece even if its not finished yet!

I love how well the pink goes with the turquoise prismarine. Honestly it’s all so pretty, I want to run around your castle barefoot in a floaty white dress with intricate elven silver hair pieces. The vibes are absolutely immaculate
The tree looks SO GOOD!! It really makes the base feel even more complete with the combination of both the structural shapes of the base itself, and the organic shape of the giant tree!
What a monster amount of work for a single episode, that is crazy. The palace looks incredibly complete with that as a top. Some ideas .. carpet on the ground / glass to mimic the leaves dropping, as Cherry trees often blanket the floor. Could help "hide" snow :)
Such perfect timing! Even without the new blocks coming in 1.20 it still looks absolutely gorgeous. Really hope you expand on this concept throughout the castle once the update drops; I think all that pink in contrast with the teal and pale yellows would look great!

Absolutely beautiful tree. Some suggestion to help, try adding spore blossoms, would be really nice for the particle effect. Pink carpet could help with the snow problems on the leaves and of course the good old string on the bark of the tree. Also maybe instead of the fence you could also try to red twisty nether vine.

If i had a nickel for everytime a hermit has created something or a build which uses other materials to showcase the look of something just about to be added to minecraft, I'd have 2 nickels which isn't a lot but it is wired that it happed twice (gems tree right before the update and bdubs copper castle right before the update)

GEMMM!!!! This tree is SO FREAKING BEAUTIFUL that you don't even need to add the actual cherry blossom leaves when they come out. Obvi you can if you want to, but this is already SO pretty and I'm so attached to it. Whether you choose to leave it as is or change it up, it, like everything you make, is gorgeous regardless! ❤

I love how well the pink goes with the turquoise prismarine. Honestly it’s all so pretty, I want to run around your castle barefoot in a floaty white dress with intricate elven silver hair pieces. The vibes are absolutely immaculate
The tree looks SO GOOD!! It really makes the base feel even more complete with the combination of both the structural shapes of the base itself, and the organic shape of the giant tree!
What a monster amount of work for a single episode, that is crazy. The palace looks incredibly complete with that as a top.
Some ideas .. carpet on the ground / glass to mimic the leaves dropping, as Cherry trees often blanket the floor. Could help "hide" snow :)
Such perfect timing! Even without the new blocks coming in 1.20 it still looks absolutely gorgeous. Really hope you expand on this concept throughout the castle once the update drops; I think all that pink in contrast with the teal and pale yellows would look great!
The tree definitely add the nature-based feel that elves often have, and a great contrast to the blue/green color scheme. Great work Gem!

Absolutely beautiful tree. Some suggestion to help, try adding spore blossoms, would be really nice for the particle effect. Pink carpet could help with the snow problems on the leaves and of course the good old string on the bark of the tree. Also maybe instead of the fence you could also try to red twisty nether vine.
