I love to see a list in the description that lists the clothes (5 tanks, 2 short sleeve, etc.) I would also love a follow-up after the trip to share what did and didn't work and if you ended up taking the jeans. Especially fun to review the new items you bought.
Thanks for your packing tips! I went on a river cruise with 1 carry on and a personal bag, then to Italy where I traveled for 10 days. I left my luggage behind, bought a small backpack and did laundry in my sink each night. It was too hot so I was usually back in my room mid day for a shower and rest until early dinner and "passajotta" Quite an adventure! Just bought a light rolling backpack to be ready for the next good deal. (75 year old adventurer again, after 50+ years being without much travel!) 🎉
Hack for wearing Allbirds with orthotics: order a size up and put the orthos *underneath* the allbirds footbed. Works great! I get the benefits of the washable footbed plus the all the extra support. PS love the cat stealing the show 🥰🐱
Love your videos! You say you are a mosquito magnet. If you take vitamin B12 everyday, after the first six months mosquitoes won’t bite you. You won’t taste good to them anymore. I tried it and it worked. I went camping for 2 weeks and didn’t get bitten once.
Two packing videos in a week!!! Super excited!! 🥳 I got a fortune cookie tonight that said 'International travel is in your future' - I taped it to my monitor!
Scarfs are great souvenirs. Box of awesome for us is day and night NyQuil can’t seem to find it anywhere as well as a few fishermen’s friend. Eve glass repair kit. Various sizes of ziplock bags.
Great video! But the audio is painfully out of balance. Sarah’s audio is very low, and when the guy talks or ads come on, they are screaming. I had to turn captions on and make her inaudible to deal with the incredibly loud other audio. Is there any way to fix that?
I love Royal Robbins. I travel with 4 skorts that I treat like they are gold bars because I am not sure how long they will make them. I was trying to find a fifth color but I can’t find it in Canada and it seems Royal Robbins forbids US stores to ship to Canada. 😩. Their tops are also amazing. The t-shirts dry quickly and the blouses are perfect for layering…they also dry very fast after washing…or if you are caught in the rain. I will be doing an overnight in Miami in February and hopefully I will be able to find a store that sells the color that I want in my size. I already have blouses and t-shirts to match it! Happy travels! ❤️🌹
Great content. I’m binge watching all of your videos. I have a similar thing to your box of awesomeness. I always include a command hook and several sticky backs for it so I can hang my toiletries or whatever, wherever I want and individual tubes of eye drops. I use my binder clips to clip my bag of stuff for the plane to the seat pocket.
I love how silk packs up like nothing. But, having just returned from hot humid Italy, and being a sweaty Betty, silk will show sweat and swass. I found linen and linen blends were my best option.
Two packing videos in a week! I’d love to see the outfits you style while you’re in Italy. Costco has a great merino wool base layer, lightweight but warm. Is that the one you bought? I also layer with wool cami’s. I have one from Ice Breaker and LL Bean and love them. Safe travels!
I've only been to Iceland once, but it was in October and even though I'm from Finland (where autumn and winter weather can be very cold and/or miserable and wet), it was still a shock to the system 😂 The closest comparison I can make is taking a cold, wet and windy day in the UK and subtracting maybe 10-15 degrees Celsius from the temperature 😁 ETA: I think I remember reading somewhere that Iceland is among the tallest countries in the world, so you might have some luck finding jeans there, but I really understand not wanting to count on it. It's a bit like I only feel confident in finding clothes in certain countries as an above average height, plus sized woman.
We are leaving for a trip tomorrow, spending a week hiking in Switzerland, then 2 weeks in Italy, so your packing for 2 extremes has been very helpful. It’s too late to buy anything but I will be able to tweak my packing and go much lighter. Also, I have quite a few of the same brands that you like. Love my Royal Robbins skirt and have worn it for years. Thanks a million! I’ll be following you from now on.
Great tips Sarah and enjoyable as usual. Special thanks to Luka for highlighting the cat cameo (did anyone else watch the video while keeping eyes peeled for a cat cameo?). Of course then I had to backtrack over that part of the video again cos got totally distracted 😆

Sarah: I've been traveling around the world with just carry-ons since the '90s BUT because I'm going to Italy for 5 wks (Sept/Oct 2022) and not into the wilderness, I had to rethink what to pack! Grazie for the silk clothing tips especially since I chill sooooo easily.
Hi. Are there different grades of silk? If so, what silk should I look for to use for traveling. Does it wrinkle easily or unwrinkle easily too ? Is it easy to wash & dry ? Also, since you want to dress differently in Italy than Iceland, do you have a video that shows how to dress for different countries that I should consider ? thx
I love your channel! I hope you have time for the Blue Lagoon HIGHLY recommended. Also, I recommend Tortuga backpacks for their waterproof performance and harness system is incredibly comfortable. Have fun 🙂
I agree that the box of awesome is great in other applications. I lost my home in a fire and someone gave me a box that would be the contents of your junk drawer. Now I give a junk drawer box to anyone in my community who is starting over.
prAna's Bridger Jeans are lightweight, pack small, and you can hang them dry overnight. If you need to wear a base layer pant under them, you might have to size up one size.
Fascinating hearing you discuss this...flights to and from Aus we can't take backpacks into the cabin that weigh more than 7kg...you're talking about putting this 20lb backpack in the cabin overhead locker.
I've been so intrigued by the Cotapaxi suitcase-style pack since watching this video. Can anyone comment whether 1) the 42L size Allpa shown here is ever rejected as carry-on (especially internationally) since it's 25 x 16 x 7 inches (64 x 41 x 18 cm), and 2) whether the coating flaking mentioned in the first generation of the bag was corrected in later versions or is just something worth dealing with for all the great features? I'm debating getting the 35L just to be on the safe side, but it would be so nice to have the extra room, and I also like that the 42L has load lift straps. - Thanks again for a great video!
Thanks so much for all of your fabulous one-bag packing videos! I come from a family of carry-on-only veteran travelers, but have long been in search of the perfect one-bag pack, for both international and domestic travel. I’m curious to know how you feel about the size/capacity difference between the 35 & 42L Allpa packs, after your trip. I’ve tried many different brands over the years (OrigAudio, eBags, etc), while trying not to spend a fortune, but find that many one-bag packs (especially those with clamshell openings) end up feeling extremely unbalanced. The Allpa looks to be much more easily organized than the others. Looking forward to any follow-up thoughts you may have, regarding whether you’d choose the 42L size for another trip that has a less demanding pack-list, or would stick with 35L for shorter or single-destination trips.
My three new wants: that bag and those sandals, both brands. I hate getting bruises on the soles of my feet, so I'm picky about my shoes/sandals. I love your packing tips and suggestions, but I'm around 70±, and nobody wants to see me in leggings or silky fabrics. LOL. And my chesticles need a whole lot more support than ... well, let's just say they need sturdy fabric with rugged straps. Otherwise, running for a bus just aint gonna happen. I also pack for heart attack first aid, low dose chewable aspirin.
I would love to see you also encourage solid toiletries for those who may have special needs and I would highly recommend the New Zealand company Ethique which now also sells in USD and CAD. I found it after Lush changed its solid shampoo offers. Ethique does many shampoos, conditioners, deodorant, body wash, body lotions in regular and travel sizes with minimal packaging (paper). Love them!
I find laundry is essential for minimalist, long travel packing. How do you do laundry with such expensive fabrics, (ie silk, cashmere)? How much do you pay, how do laundry mat accommodate your special fabrics?
For any kind of garment, washing only the stained/smelly parts (e.g. armpits) is a good general hack to reduce drying time, but it might be especially helpful for these kinds of delicate fabrics.
I’m curious as to your long-term experience with the new Cotopaxi, if you’ve been able to use it for more than one trip since purchasing.
