I'm glad I got to experience this gem. It's funny to think back on the impact games like these had on me. I was feeling nostalgic about the PC Gamer Magazine demo discs and decided to look back at the collections. What a trip! Cavedog studio's Total Annihilation was another I played incessantly. The Jedi Knight games were fun. I believe the issue from May 1996 had "Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith" Blessings and Cheers to you, brother. 🍻
Great video! Just downloaded all 3 EV titles and have been diving into researching of the various TCs / Plugins / etc. I'm loving these more than most modern titles which I find very interesting
Have you checked out Starsector? Seems like the next step in the evolution of top down 2d space sims, after EV and Spaz. Far more depth and breadth than the older games, so not quite as immediately accessible , but it looks like it’s worth the effort.
I have, yes! Its a pretty great game though it loses me a bit with its stylized graphics and complexity. Also feels like they put a bit too much emphasis on combat, but yes, it's very good.
love this and the other EV games. I used to play this and nova all the time
