We are talking about EVERYDAY woman carry so she’s going to go with the lighter one and if she cannot hit with it then looks like she needs to practice more. Also in everyday carry not household carrying… why are you trying to shoot someone 25-30 ft away when they are running away. If you didn’t have more than one round in their a- when they were up on you before they hit 25 ft then maybe you should become more aware of your surroundings. Also she should practice without ear plugs cause after first shot she could have ringing of the ear and not be able to deal with another shot so she needs to be used to the sound.

I have had both for years, and have had no issues. I like them both.
Be careful with the gun-handling. There are numerous times the gun handler flags themselves or someone else, as well as coming very close to doing either, in the video. Don't be too casual as that can become a bad habit. Accidents happen to the best of us.

Ditto to both comments. Both guns have ammo they don't routinely take well. If you're only using ammo that the Glock likes and the Ruger doesn't like rather than ammo that both guns like, then whose fault is that?
When using the correct ammo, I have zero issues from either gun. I'd delete this video and publish a video with ammo the guns enjoy. The critique of Ruger isn't fair.

I brought a LCP for my wife back in '18, but never got the chance to shoot it until a few months ago due to the range being closed. It malfunctioned almost every round! I was shooting steel, after switching to brass, it was a little better. I emailed Ruger, they sent me RMA via FedEx within 24hrs. I sent it back to Ruger, and within 7 days, it was returned. They replaced the inner recoil spring, slide assembly and barrel. It was stated in the repair invoice that 30 rounds were fired at their range without any malfunctions. I took it to range, shot 30 rounds of Federal 380...it was perfect...and it was more accurate. I noticed with the new parts, that it's a lot more snap. Now it's time to take the wife to range again to see how she handles the recoil.

I have both and the key for the G42 is the grip. From almost 1300 rounds in the G42, only a few failed to eject due to wrong grip. Once I corrected my grip, never had any issues. With the LCP however, you need good ammo, meaning Federal, Hornady critical defense are the brand I rarely have issues with the LCP.
For high CC, for example, when wearing training outfit, I’ll keep the G42. Otherwise, I’ll carry a P365 9mm.

I would think something DA/SA or DAO (semi auto or revolver) would be a better purse gun. I just think the chance of an accidental discharge is much greater with a SA cocked hammer or cocked striker fired weapon. Given the low chance of actually using a gun in a defensive situation, I would error on the side of safety. My two cents. Thanks for sharing.

I replaced it with an LCP Max giving me double the capacity with the 12 round magazines. Haven’t shot it yet but also have my eyes on a 42 also. It may have been an old G42 when there were early mag issues or an after market mag or one of the most common is user error or cheap ammo. In any case, Glock has already had 6 six years to work out the defects with the G42. You may have just been lucky with the Max and unlucky with the G42, but the law of averages are in Glocks favor buy a large margin across the board. I would rather have a G42 and have Glock make it reliable, but they can't help user error, bad ammo and other errors that is not their fault.

I have both Glocks and the LCP, as well as a LC9. I carry my G43 and my LCP for concealed carry. The LCP has never failed to feed or stove pipe. Neither has my Glock. The problem is the long trigger pull on the LCP. I had to put a laser on it just to make it somewhat accurate. And it slaps. My palm is always sore after practicing with this firearm. My G20 doesn't slap my palm like the little LCP. The LC9 is a constantly rusting, long trigger pull POS. I got it free in a trade for another gun. The original owner didn't even want it.

ammo related, slide bite and limp wrist can all cause failures, with tiny guns muzzle awareness is a mistake lots of people make including well trained professionals, but looks like coments already gave a few gentle lectures on safety, the Ruger Lcp 380 is good for for deep cover but draw back is for some to small and more difficut to rack and reload, i have one and its a experts gun for that very reason, Glock 42 is easier but Ruger Lcp learning curve is longer but you can master it eventually, under cover police use the Ruger Lcp because of long heavier trigger pull allowing you to carry it even in forbidden places, makes a good jog or walk the dog gun, even smimming gun you can have it with you swimming actually in the water, people found unique ways to swim with it but also making shure they dont lose it in the bottom of the water, the ruger lcp has succesful defense incidences proving it can work for defense provided you use reliable ammo for defense loads, a 63 year old female store employee defended herself with a couple shots in a robbery, the first shot would have been fatal but she fired about 2 times, the guy didnt make it out the front door all the way, its shot placement that does the job in defense, even if full metal jacket target loads hit the right spot its good for defense, although fmj is not optimal it penetrates deep and never should be under estimated as with a 22 lr, the price on the basic Ruger Lcp is so low its afforble for every one, including girls who insist leggings is all the ever will wear, if a purse having a no zip top and no zip compartment is good to grab gun quickly, or colder weather right in jacket pocket come out quick, with heavier weight trigger its fine for a pocket and is unlimited in any way you want to carry, sneaky pete holsters for open carry look lie a cell phone holder so you cant go wrong with a Ruger Lcp, a guy even went hog hunting with it, crazy but one shot kill 100 grain sig fmj ammo but any fmj would have done the job, its always been about shot placement hunting or defense and practice defense drills, run and gun with cover so that even a tiny pistol can be just as effective as a larger higher capacity gun, i usually have a spare 10 round mag and a lcp 2 mag that is 7 and one in the pipe, one more the factory mag and longer grip, but even short can be mastered, for accurate shot you can pull most of the travel out of trigger to a artificial wall made by your stagging trigger pulling up lots of the travel except the last 1/8 inch, on back of pistol to you can see where hammer drops in relation to where it is when it drops, you can carry 2 pistols like a new york reload and possibly arm another person with 6 plus one in the pipe, a clean and lubed ruger lcp with good ammo is a very reliable micro gun, for its the power to weight ratio is incredible, 200 ft/lbs on some hot loads make it close to a 38 snub in energy and sometimes equal, being 10 oz unloaded and 11 oz loaded depending on grain weight of round its simply amazing, put a 460 engine in a ford pinto and a ruger lcp is what you got

I won't comment on the sexism in assuming women can't handle a gun, but the best gun for anyone is one that is comfortable enough to carry every day, and that you can shoot accurately under stress. Shot placement is more important than caliber or ammo selection.

For all you 380 naysayers. Check out the stats from a 10 year study with over 7000+ actual shooting events. This guy works with law enforcement and trauma surgeons. From 380 all the way up too 44 mag there us only a 3% difference as to 1 shot stop the threat. Don't be fooled that this 9mm/380 is an anemic round. I don't care what the FBI says, ballistic gel is Not a good medium to test the performance of a round for defense against attacking humans. Ballistic gel dies not have anywhere near the composition of the human body. Therefore it is not real world comparable.

The Max is way overpriced for a, mid-grade pistol that is less reliable, mid-grade barrel, no captive recoil spring, cheaper parts and materials, fails to lock back on last round, etc., just because it has a few extra rounds capacity. The G42 is high grade pistol that includes 2 magazines, plastic gun case, has plus 2 extended magazines for $25, high capacity after market magazines, polygonal barrel, captive recoil spring, etc.
That is one expensive magazine on the Max. :)

That is why if I buy a LCP gun, it would be the original. At 370 that is close to the G42's 419. Plus you "need" another Mag for the Max. The first LCP is 199. My debate is the LCP vs the G42. People also forget about ammo and range costs when buying a new gun.

I pocket carry a GX4 for almost two years now. I really enjoy it, but.... it s a little heavy come shorts season. Now if you are just a jeans guy, you would be fine, but there are times it's not the most comfortable so something lighter is desired. I put a G42 in my pocket at Academy and it is smaller than the GX4. According to handgun hero unloaded, there is a 5 oz weight difference with the GX4 and G42.
