While I understand exactly what you are saying and won't necessarily disagree, the same exact thing could be said about Sput in that if he hadn't been with them since the beginning, there might not have even been a "We Like It Here" album. ALL of their drummers are legendary. Sput, Larnell, and JT are all incredible drummers and while their styles are a little different, they each bring their own flavor that makes that Snarky Puppy sound we all know and love. My point is that Larnell is amazing, and the fact he was able to pull of "We Like It Here" with almost literally no prep-time speaks volumes to his ability, but I can almost guarantee that if Sput had be thrown into a similar situation, he would have pulled it off, too! You don't even get put on the list to be called into a Snarky Puppy gig unless you're the best of the best. Period.
Man... I will not accept someone saying "this solo is better than this other one"... Both are really amazing and each one has it's own feeling... I love both the same, great pianists both of them
I love hearing how different keyboard players do the solo for this song. Even listening to different Cory solos is awesome. I have so much respect for everyone who performs with Snarky Puppy.
I was expecting something good from anyone who plays with Snarky Puppy even if I've never seen him before, but Caleb absolutely killed it in this! So, so good.
"take your time brother!" someone should've told him that when he was drinking before the show. also, i love how they brought the tempo down for this, that groove is absolutely killer
@@nam485 I think he’s just saying if he had the same setup as cory this solo would have sounded a lot better, not necessarily that it would’ve sounded better than cory’s
@@Anjiruu nah shaun did exactly the right thing. this solo is a marathon not a sprint, you can't just blow your load at the beginning. Shaun wanted him to build up as slowly as possible and then you see starting around 7:16 when caleb really starts revving the engine shaun lets him do his thing
@@hskshag00 Actually Shaun wasn’t “letting him” do anything. Caleb wasn’t rushing at all during his solo. If you actually listen, he started off from the very beginning with very soulful, expressive, melodic phrases and built his way from there. Shaun saying “take your time” a billion random times during his solo had zero impact on his playing lol. That was just Shaun’s fun, drunk banter. I promise you, he didn’t need any help at all… 😂
I agree with David... Cory is a beast, but Caleb has to be one of the coldest soloists on keys i have ever heard. His chromatic chord sequence with Moog accompanying to me was more complex than Cory's recorded version. Most musicians really respect each others art, but like athletes, deep down we wanna impress the audience more than the next man.
Lorenzo, really? Look up his last name.... You think someone with this level of talent just fell out of the tree without any formal training, Cowriting with National artist....but homeless....I heard he sells bridges in New York...
I agree! Although, a very close second place goes to "Eric Harland", who is a drummer, and you can find a video of when he sat in with the band and played the infamous Lingus solo. It was incredible. I've also seen a video of when Mark Lettieri had the solo, and it was also amazing!
The bass is the most important part of the sound to me because that's what really stirs my blood more than any of the other instruments!!! And for the piece itself, the bass softens the sharpness of the other instruments and gives the song a smoothness and a rhythm!!! It's all about rhythm to me!!! Jazz is great but it can get too chaotic and just plain messy!!! Yes, I think I understand the concept!
first time i watch this version.. The dude on the keys had a hard act to follow and man.. I don't even want to think about the pressure he was under to fill Corey shoes but... HATS off to him. While it wasn't stellar... he did his THANG. His Balls hang low, pass the ground.
Important question... Hopefully answered in a future @SnarkyPuppy documentary... Did @CoryHenry see/hear this @CalebSean solo before the We Like It Here Performance months later?
What did you use to record this? The sound quality is incredible for a handheld device? No way this is an iphone or basic digital camera... right? Awesome recording!
You might want to search on Scott Stephens, who uploaded the whole session in three parts. I copied only this song "Lingus" and re-uploaded it myself. Enjoy!
Fun fact: This was 5 months before the recording of "We Like It Here"
Wow really?
Nobody:
Shaun: "TAKE YOUR TIME!"
Stagehand:
one of the most death defying solos ever...I believe without a safety net.
Fun Fact: Caleb Sean performed with Snarky Puppy on a consist basis before they moved to New York and became a household name. Great solo!
This made me realize how important Larnell Lewis was for the "We like it here" album, his legendary drumming took Snarky Puppy to a new dimention.

8:41 shaun giving caleb the greatest compliment you can give to a musician
Lol, I completely agree. Also, nice screen name.
Henry can never be replaced
Caleb is a beast. I saw him and the funky knuckles open for snarky in 2013. Became an instant fan
Caleb KILLED. Shaun is hilarious. This is musicianship at its best.
Damn....words cant explain Caleb's solo @ 5 min....truly blown away
When Caleb gets into those chromatic chords at 8:19....my brain melts 🤯🔥🔥🔥🔥

YES LORD, TESTIFY, TESTIFY....Loooooooool when that man said that I was lasheddddddd off my bed. Take your time. Greatest band alive
GREAT JOB UNCLE CALEB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"take your time brother!" someone should've told him that when he was drinking before the show. also, i love how they brought the tempo down for this, that groove is absolutely killer
This one is so uniquely amazing and bright!
Oh my goodness. So much… Muchness… I almost cried of joy.
7:17 when he really gets in it . I wish to be able to solo like that
Unbelievable! 6:34 reminded me of I Want to Break Free
Can't get enough of this Song, I now have to write something in 5, So F#$kin Cool
Cory's own still my best but Caleb killed it!!!!
The differences in the separate solos.......SOUL and skill. Caleb pulled that from within!!!!!
The biggest crime there is is to cut this performance 4 SECONDS from the end.
Thanks for the heads up.
drummer just makes it all float
Good job Caleb! proudly unique
This Caleb is simply amazing
All of them SNAPPED DOC!!!
The force is STRONG with this!!!!!
That is Caleb McCampbell. He's great!!
I think Caleb killed the solo....and had he been in the same studio setting as Cory was, it would have came out 10 times better. KEEP KILLIN EM CALEB!
No you're mistaking
It was good, don’t get me wrong, but no one will ever recreate what Cory did in that room
@@nam485 I think he’s just saying if he had the same setup as cory this solo would have sounded a lot better, not necessarily that it would’ve sounded better than cory’s
Ready for whatever album this is gonna be one!!
Pound for pound, the baddest band in the land.
would love to play sax with these guys
Hahaha you and almost every horn player that's heard these boys do their thing
Oh boy, that keys solo!!!
Caleb Sean is NASTY!!!!! 7:45-8:05
Nicholas Jones woulda been a wider section of the video if it wasn't for shaun stallin him lol

Tim Johnson what kind of stuff was he doing? I'd love to learn from him but like what he was using over chords, like certain scales or anything
it was not more complicated than cory henry solo it was another way of aproaching Lingus
i heard he never knew how to read notes and he was homeless until now
Lorenzo, really? Look up his last name.... You think someone with this level of talent just fell out of the tree without any formal training, Cowriting with National artist....but homeless....I heard he sells bridges in New York...
You're nuts is not complex as cory henry's version...
best lingus solo in my opinion but Cory is still one of my favorites.
this is what church musicians do... in all your getting get some understanding. thanks ken for the upload.
Shaun is waaaayyyyy too lit 😂😂😂❤️
Nice!!
Great performance
Smokin solo...😃👏👏👏👏👏
TAKE YOUR TIME
Thank you for posting this
Fun fact: Caleb and Cory are cousins.
So that's why they're both so good. Role models.
Did not know that
Mike Hawk I met Caleb and Cory
They are aliens from the same planet
Mike Hawk LoL 😂 they’re not cousins lol
of all the solos ive heard this comes second for me...
coreys original solo (seemingly nothing will ever top that)
this solo second
I agree! Although, a very close second place goes to "Eric Harland", who is a drummer, and you can find a video of when he sat in with the band and played the infamous Lingus solo. It was incredible. I've also seen a video of when Mark Lettieri had the solo, and it was also amazing!
Apparently someone's hasn't seen Cory's alternate takes on the solo. 😂😂

B Hutch this was actually before Cory's version.
하루에 한번씩 봐야지 진짜 이건....
Who is this guy on keys?!?!?!? He just melted my face off
He felt something in that room
Shaun Buggin lol.. But Caleb a monster on keys.. Another great hit by Snarky puppy.
their best track
LOL TAKE YOUR TIME
coisa de louco kkk os caras são de outro planeta
awesome
The solo at 7:50 reminded me of tom jobim - pela luz dos olhos
Victor Hugo Guinho that bit was so good prob my fave part tbh
Damn
Good!
Two words: Oh God.
Oh come on!!!! 7:50 ??? What was that? Sounds like I've heard it before, anyone knows if he borrowed it from somewhere? That was epic!
D45HK3 no idea but that part was sick
6:53 he's bringing some sick lines 7:03 calling an ambulance
choisir la difficulté l'honneur des musiciens.💥💥🖐🏻🖐🏻😃😃
I like it
La gloria!
8:03 awwww ya!!!
We...have....been......schooled
Shaun putting lies in homie's head he was ready to take off from the get-go
Super blue balls at the end there...
Important question... Hopefully answered in a future @SnarkyPuppy documentary... Did @CoryHenry see/hear this @CalebSean solo before the We Like It Here Performance months later?
Is Shawn totally drunk ?
GOOD LORD
lol the beer guy at right while keys solo
other highlights 8:21 - 8:51
I swear. That was sick!
Awh man. They cut him off too soon... Come on...
Cory's has more story line, adventure and interpretation. Caleb's is complicated and complex not sure it can be analyzed.
Well-described, I tend to agree!
his opening riff at 4:50 mins is so good lol
That keyboardist had giant shoes to fill...
8trigrammer he has some big feet to fill
This predates Cory's famous solo. Caleb can fill Cory's shoes just fine.
just saying... this was before the "we like it here" version.
Ain’t no shoes to be filled those dudes are related
shit!!!! cut in the best part!!!! :)
so good:)
That ending made me sad.
oh laawd, that's one helluva solo! 04:50
Lingus of the Rings
That key solo was dirty business.
Can it be compared to Cory or no blah blah. Like yeah. It was right there. They both just laid it to waste. Man!
What did you use to record this? The sound quality is incredible for a handheld device? No way this is an iphone or basic digital camera... right? Awesome recording!
Didn't record this myself unfortunately.. I copied it from another YT upload (see above). I believe he used a HTC One to record this.
Caleb is out of control...check him out with Funky Knuckles
Cory has more control on his lingus solo. I enjoyed it more. Talented musicians either way.
Thx shaun 😂😂
Play Caleb!
....Dat Solo....
! ! ! I N T E N $ E E N E R G I E $ ! ! !
Hi, do you know what synth model the keyboardist is using during the solo?
Korg R3
omg Caleb
Jose aponte on percussion
nice bro! 7:17 - 7:40
Does anyone know which Synthesizer he is using for the solo? Thanks and best
+Johannesniko KORG R3
+Bactiar L. Toruan thanks
Thanks!
Where in Dallas is this?
But... The last 4 seconds of the song?!
WHERE IS THE FULL VERSION?
You might want to search on Scott Stephens, who uploaded the whole session in three parts. I copied only this song "Lingus" and re-uploaded it myself. Enjoy!
