Mens Foon's definition of racism is absolutely incorrect. Racism has nothing to do with one group having power over another. It is simply whether someone is discriminating against another person based on their race, it has nothing to do with who is the dominant numerically.

Firstly, good on Meng and Nobby for fronting. Secondly, the idea that Meng put forward that racism is soley a manifestation of structural power imbalances between groups is a marxist notion and it's dangerous. If we accept this premise and also accept the premise that New Zealanders of European extraction are proportionately over representated in positions of power, it becomes easier to lazily suggest without exidence that systemic racism is perpetratred and perpetuated by New Zelanders of European extraction against other groups. Racism is in fact, the idea that discrimination against a person is justified because of their race and it can play out in any direction. It often manifests in interpersonal relations, but we've also seen it operate at a societal level. Government supported, subsidised and promoted the poem and then it judged its own response to the Tusiata Avia poem. Mr Meng was the judge. Is wordsmithery a universal "Get out of jail card?"
This poet hates white people yet they speak and write in English and probably attends a church at weekend. What a hypercritical piece of shit.
I came up with a saying many years ago that fits this perfectly it goes " comment postponed sincerity denied ". This is an attempt to having your cake and eat it to Meng.
Meng Foon is no different from his predecessor, Devoy, who became woefully one sided and woke, Foon was hand picked to do the same..he needs to go.
“I always say to white people, you actually still have a lot to contribute”.
Still?! What a telling comment.
@24:40
Exactly.
I know what a thing to say by a commissioner, if this was said about another race it would probably be deemed racist.
Yep, I picked up on that too. Extremely patronising
If a comedian or comedienne used that type of language in a gig (and comedy is part of the arts, it's a form of acting, then they would be absolutely pillaried.
Meng knows what side his bread is buttered on!
WEFs
Meng Foon should read about the disparity fallacy
Meng is out of his depth by a mile "Don't judge the cover by the book"
English is not Meng's mother tongue, he speaks Te Reo well & several other languages. Unfortunately most of us can only speak English which leaves us with a narrow view of the world & art.Peace, liberty & freedom of speech to all humanity. ❤
@@julietomana3937 What a totally irrelevant comment. I am multilingual but I do not feel those who only speak one language have narrow views of the world. That is a very divisive statement.
Well done Platform. Good on Meng and Nobby for being on today. The platform is coming along nicely! You won’t get this on MSM or from conspiracy nutjobs!👍👍👍
And honestly good on Meng for fronting and saying the poem was s***. Needed to go further and call it blatant racist. That would’ve been good.
Conspiracy nut jobs as you put it are way ahead of you's 🐑
@@skaxman99 He can't, he's lose his job, only whiteys are racist.
@@loop1479 haha yeah
Foon stumbles through his identity politics nonsense, trying to repeat correctly what he's been told. Beyond embarrassing.
Yes Meng you "GOT IT WRONG"!
Listening to the poem that women wrote it made me feel sick as for meng
He’s racist to to all white people in Nz
can we have a conversation about young white men and why they are leaving our universities in record numbers? the ones I have spoken to say they are sick of being picked on by their teachers. This year 60% of graduates will be women, 40% men
I don’t think poet describes her.
She's a 'biG' girl 😳
Politicians are so out of touch with the real world and far removed
All WEF indoctrinated scum.
I thought Meng needed to show stronger leadership and strongly denounce the writer and her poetry. Listening to her narrate the poem she sounds like a psycho. I’m Maori and find her poem culturally and racially offensive .
Does NZ really need a Race Relations Commissioner
Meng keeps quoting the revised woke version of the definition of racism l. Not the one that is used in the English language or its Long standing meaning
You are 100 % correct .
Meng has no idea what he's talking about.
i remember that at the high school i went to in the 1960's and 1970's in ChCh white kids got canned brutally if bad language was used. That taught me to use polite language for the rest of my life and I seem to have had a great career using harmonious language. We only had a few Maori kids at that school and we learnt a bit of te reo (though I cant remember it as I am a science guy). I was one of the 270+ who complained to the HR dept - took 2 weeks for the weak reply.
Meng should resign, so as those who find such vile violent bullies.
Good on you Knobby
More people will see this than his movie. and it didn't cost taxpayer money
Tusiata Avia poem is hate speech..
What the fuck has gone wrong in NZ
NOBBY did nothing wrong.
Meng is a complete knob
The only systemic and structural racism in New Zealand is that which benefits Maori. Maori electorates is a big one, All the unearned power and money that's just given to Iwi. Maori businesses getting tax benefits that white or asian businesses don't. I'm sure if I dug deeper I'd find a dozen more examples.
I am disgusted with Meng Foon. He is not fit to be in his role. He needs to resign. The poem is definitely hate speech!!!
Great job in getting Meng Foon on. It would be fantastic in you could get James Shaw or Chris Luxon on the debate climate change.
Be even better to get opposing sides to debate the coff and the effects of the jab. I'd pay money for that.
Good on ya Nobby
No. Nobby's obviously a supporter of hate speech laws. From 16:03 "they've just let it go because it's got too hard alongside freedom of speech."
Invercargill City Council is still very combative amongst themselves, they need to chill out, respect each others differences and get some stuff done together, I do not think Nobby is helping this or leading them to more cohesiveness, which is a shame
Mr Foon was a pokie machine operator/owner within a Maori community before being the Gisborne Mayor
sack foon....another waste of space time and PUBLIC monies.
Have to agree with that
Basically NZ is being screwed and set up for the Government and its laws to be dissolved. This releases all the realestate contracts and land ownership rules. All will pay rent to unelected maori corporations. Good for Beijing.
Also mentioned killing descendants which effectively “sins of the father” which is madness
Meng conveniently missed that out.
@@everdienvaneerten6077Meng was pretty weak here but I’ll give him the benefit of doubt that it may of been a language barrier issue
I would be interested to know if there a legal definition of what a Maori is, I say this simply because the bloodlines are so impure now, that many people who claim to be Maori have as little as 1/64th Maori blood in them. Are there really any true Maori left?
I want $100k to publish my poems too. Problem is they're all about nice things - flowers 'n' such. Do I have to change all the words to make them racist to get my $100k?
I've heard poems in my life ,but this ain't even a good poem.If she's getting 100 grand for this ,I think I'll try my hand a poetry myself lol
Do not resign Mr Clark., Great interview Sean. So I don't like the poem, the artist proved to me in your piece you played yesterday that she is backing the words personally that are in her poem. Don't you think she should be named as a person of interest to the authorities.
@Andrea Todd. Yep, you're right Andrea. If a caucasian New Zealander did that, they would be arrested immediately. Instead, the 'powers that be", rewarded the so called 'Poet".
@@daddybob6096 yes they would be called out, so if Mr Foon wants to sit on the fence of impartiality it makes his job incredibly easy.
Meng Foon as the Race Relations Commissioner never answered the complaints. I complained that the poem was hate speech, inciting violence and racist. All I got in response was a link to their pathetic statement on their website. He now suggests people take their complaint to the Human Rights tribunal to test it (he displays avoidance by emphasising the hate speech aspect rather than the racist aspect). If that is all he can do in his role then what is the point of having a Race Relations Commissioner.
STILL have a lot to contribute to the community??? WOW!
Nobby, you need to name and shame this art community that was behind this and the funding they are supplying. Thats where the push should be directed. This poem cannot receive taxpayer funding and that should be the crux of the matter. Infact that funding should be demanded to be returned.
