I think Enterprise is severely underrated. It has fans, that's true, but I don't think it gets enough recognition in fan circles. Enterprise bought so much to the table, and told a fabulous story of the first Enterprise crew.

I really liked Enterprise and now knowing what unused ideas were thrown around and what also was planned for a 5th season, it would have been an interesting season had it have been made, which I wish it had have been.
I don't mind the theme music used for Enterprise, but I remember wondering what that song sang by Rod Stewart and used in the movie Patch Adams was doing being used as a Star Trek theme? The theme music should have been original for the show, like every other Star Trek theme before it. Had they have used Archers Theme as the theme music instead, that would have worked as it fits very well and is perfect for a Star Trek title sequence theme and with the guitar and drums it was a bit different than other Star Trek themes used. Yes the full DS9 theme had a guitar and drums in it, but that version was never used in the show.
While I did like the temporal cold war, I do agree that it's a show about the early days and we wanted to see what life was like for humanity before the vessels, technology. Starfleet, Prime directive, red alerts etc...Star Trek was known for and trying to make Enterprise futuristic, took away some of that feel.
I didn't like the finale and if it wasn't for the cancellation, things might have went much better as we would have got to see the birth of the Federation in more detail than the rushed ending we got.

I have vehemently disagreed with the idea of "franchise fatigue" over the years as it sounds like a deflecting excuse for poor production effort (which, let's face it, Berman and Braga and any suits above them are to blame for when it came to Voyager and Enterprise). But I suppose fatigue CAN be a thing if that lack of effort gets prolonged or doesn't take diversifying risks like modern Trek does. Also, making the proposed 5th season refit of the ship canon does go against what we saw in "These Are the Voyages..." ...But since that episode SUUUUUUCKED, I'll go along with it. After all, I tend to write off "Turnabout Intruder" and "And the Children Shall Lead" as events that, if Kirk & Company were real people in another reality watching our tv shows, would point at and say "yeah those events didn't happen at all like that".

Because it's portrayed as a "historical record", some 200 years in the future, whos to say that recording is wrong, or been changed in some way.
Even without the endless potential with time travel, they can still have Trip take command of the upgraded NX-01 for a revival series.
As for the theme tune... I love the song for the first two seasons, but they went in the opposite direction they should have for season 3 onwards. They should have made it progressively more instrumental and grander, leading into the original Courage theme (re, Discovery)

Also Voyager ignored several of its episodes that involved some version of time travel or taking part in the future (there is even a scene in one episode where Janeway and Kim discuss how it can even be possible to use future information from a timeline that no longer exists), and Star Trek as a whole has ignored much of the time travel Temporal organization that Voyager started and is believed to be what is in Enterprise. But the concern of the timeline becoming increasingly muddy with each newer series changing things may be why they haven't tried it, though the success of Picard season 3 might have them try again some day.

I'm still of the opinion that the Finale wasn't planned on being the finale, but contracts got in the way for part of it with money there.
Basically, the episode was planned for being part of the season when they were then told that the show was canceled, leading to a reshuffling and going for an ending they could fit in with some shifting of things. Plus the holodrama setup means that they could hint at things and change them for future real events however they wanted to (Same as the Kes time travel episode in Voyager where they reused chunks of that, but large portions never happened).
So it became the finale and changed at the same time as everything else went crazy there

The theme tune - in the bluray extras (filmed much later than the quote from 2002), Braga said on camera that he hated and regretted choosing that song. He also said it was a ready made song just "pulled off the shelf" when they were running out of time to choose a theme tune - just coincidence that the lyrics might fit the theme of the show.

It still hurts that this fantastic series was cut off in it’s prime. It had found it’s feet so the following seasons would have been truly awesome. Loved the refit ship that we were denied. BTW. The theme as fantastic. Don’t know why so many fans objected. Pete.

It would be wonderful if they decided to somehow pick the series up again... maybe do an enterprise mini series which is set 20 years after the events of the series, maybe begin with a memorial of Trips "death" only to reveal at the end of the episode how he's been a secret agent all these years, and use de-aging in select episodes and scenes, to tell the story about what happened in the 20 years... or maybe make the whole mini-series a single serialized story about the crew time travelling to the past to save Trip from his untimely end and change the future for the better, which would certainly be a twist on the whole cold time-war thing

You missed a big one: The show was _really_ supposed to lean into the backstory of the first Starfleet warp ship and her crew, showing it's design and construction, and crew origins and assembly, over the course of the first season. But an Earth-bound "star trek" was flatly rejected by the studio.

If Legacy happens, some of these unfinished ideas should certainly be explored. Such as the origin of the Borg Queen, details of the Temporal Cold War, and the design philosophies in the development of Starships. Also, Star Trek Shorts should come back to bolster these aspects.

Honestly, I think the theme tune would have better 'told the story' by starting with some non-lyric vocals (think throat singing and so on), adding in primitive instruments, and then increasingly modern instruments taking on the theme and adding harmonic complexity.

Where My Heart Will Take Me" is the main title song of Star Trek: Enterprise played over the opening title sequence. Originally titled "Faith of the Heart", it was written by Diane Warren and originally performed by Rod Stewart for the 1998 movie Patch Adams.
    -from Memory Alpha
It has always annoyed me that no one knew that song was not original to Enterprise.
    It has always

The fact that the NX-01 DID in fact receive the refit puts the veracity of the entire series finale into question, as the NX-01 in that episode clearly has not been redesigned and was according to the dialog in the episode on its way to being decommissioned.
Since we now know that the NX-01 refit DID happen, it means that the accuracy of the holodeck program that the finale took place in was dubious at best.

I thought you might mention the early studio idea of having popular real-life music acts appearing in every episode. They were supposed to be playing gigs in the Mess Hall during each episode. Thank GOD they never actually went through with that! The more I hear about things, the more I understand just why the SAG-AFTRA strike is going on. Studios really ruin TV and movie productions a lot!
