- Rainy Season has been long, grey & humid this year, with fewer clear days than usual between the rain.
When a dry, blue-sky day appeared we jumped at the chance to film an outdoor tea ceremony on Keiko's veranda, overlooking the Katsura River & Matsunoo Taisha shrine.
An outdoor, picnic-style tea ceremony is known as Nodate (野点). It differs greatly from ceremonies within the teahouse, though naturally there are still rules about what utensils should be used, and how one should move.
This ceremony is (the koala may have given the game away) dedicated to Australia... the perfect excuse to try Lamingtons for the first time!
From Keiko, Atsuko and the rest of the Camellia team, we wish everyone out there all the best. The pandemic hasn't yet gone away, so please take care...and let's hope we get to see some of you in the future.
Merci, c’est beau et régénérant. Bravo !
Noah Gelber Now
enjoyed your 4th video from the "cheer-up" series. I love the attention
to detail, even the yellow Vegemite label in the plant! This is the
first time I witnessed a "mini" ceremony, more like those I practice for
myself. I am fascinated by the small differences I see from master to
master, the tiny vriations of folding the fukusa, purifying the natsume,
etc. So many questions to ask... I wish I could understand if they are
personal choice, or specified for each particular setting. Thank you
for sharing your art! #NoahGelber
