Justin Kiwi Jacksonville hosted the previous Super Bowl in 2005 which is a shame since they have nice weather there and a renovated stadium. However, Shahid Khan has stated he doesn’t want the stadium to host a future Super Bowl.
100 more years of the NFL will go by and there will NEVER be an acceptable explanation of why Hasselbeck was called for a personal foul penalty on the Ike Taylor interception.
The sequence of officiating around the 13 minute mark of this game basically cost Seattle any shot of winning. - Highly questionable holding call on a completion that would have put Seattle at Pittsburgh's 2 yard line. Forces them to work from 1st and 20. - A missed horsecollar call on 2nd and 25 that would have given Seattle a first down to extend the drive. - The Matt Hasselbeck unnecessary roughness call on a play where he made the tackle after a pick. This sequence alone was horrible and worthy of ridicule, but then you add in the bogus OPI call that wiped Darrell Jackson's TD off the board in the first quarter and the close TD call they gave Ben Roethlisberger and you start to question if they actually did have it out for Seattle in this game. What a painful way to lose.

Yes you can blame the officiating and all those bad calls all you want but you just had that feeling in that stadium with Jerome Bettis playing his final career game in his hometown that the Steelers were gonna win. For as bad as the low block call was, what really cost the Seahawks the game was going 1 for 3 in the redzone and missing 2 field goals. Big Ben doesn't badly underthrow Cedric Wilson and it's a 28-10 blowout.

As an Eagles and Steelers fan, this is one of the greatest super bowls along with SB 52. Super Bowls 40 & 52 were very good games. Btw I didn’t watch SB40 as I was very young at the time of SB40.
What bad calls! Yes but Matt Hasselbeck thing with the stupidest guy ever seen but that’s it. That is a push off. Ben Roethlisberger is clearly in the end zone. That is holding. And the Steelers forced a fumble but the refs blew it dead at 5:00
The correct answer is both. The steelers are a made and protected franchise who have always got those kind of calls in their favor. The Patriots can't even compete when it comes to that. And Cowher doesn't in any way, at all, in your wildest fever dreams of reality, belong in the HoF.
There's two possible outcomes on that play, 1 (the most likely). Ben broke the plane as he was shoulder deep into the endzone when contact was made, or 2. the defender dislodges the ball a millimeter before Ben crosses, causing a fumble, and he doesn't have full control until it's back over the line. Both result in a TD.

I remember looking forward to this match up soooo much. Too bad the refs got in the way. I really hope something like this never happens again. (That being said, it's not the Steelers fault the game was wrecked by officiating. The Steelers may have won either way. Unfortunately we'll never know.)
This game was the biggest ref screw job ever. The Seahawks had this game stolen from them. Every single call went against them.
I was too young to realize Seattle got shafted by the refs all game long😂
For as bad as the low block call was, what really cost the Seahawks the game was going 1 for 3 in the redzone and missing 2 field goals.
Big Ben doesn't badly underthrow Cedric Wilson and it's a 28-10 blowout.
Must of been and the 2004 Steelers were wayyy better than 2005 imo
NFL throwback don't try to act like nothing happened
The last Super Bowl televised on ABC
Until Super Bowl LXI in 2027
The Ref Bowl
big bens helmet was in the endzone and the ball was on his hip and they called it a td
@Eugene Blyther That should be an Astros type of shit, CHEATERS
Kind of off topic but since Cowher is in the Hall of Fame does that mean that Mike Tomlin Will be a Hall of Fame coach as well?
Last Super Bowl on ABC/ESPN as of 2023. Has 17 Years Since That ABC Never Aired "The Big Game"
But ABC will return to the Super Bowl for Super Bowl LXI in 2027!
Great era
Must of been and the 2004 Steelers were wayyy better than 2005 imo
If only the Steelers were still this good
This was definitely a heavy Steelers crowd since Detroit is only a couple hours from Pittsburgh by plane.
It's roughly a 5 hour drive. Pittsburgh fans travel so there are always a lot of yellow towels when the Steelers play in Ford Field.
Seahawks fans we're like... I'm gonna leave the warmth of Seattle in February to see ice sculptures in a not-yet rehabbed Detroit? I'll catch this game at a bar in the PNW instead.
As an Eagles and Steelers fan, this is one of the greatest super bowls along with SB 52. Super Bowls 40 & 52 were very good games. Btw I didn’t watch SB40 as I was very young at the time of SB40.
What's more ridiculous: The way the officials made sure the steelers won this shit, or the fact the Bill Cowher is in the HoF because of it?
What bad calls! Yes but Matt Hasselbeck thing with the stupidest guy ever seen but that’s it.
That is a push off.
Ben Roethlisberger is clearly in the end zone.
That is holding.
And the Steelers forced a fumble but the refs blew it dead at 5:00
The correct answer is both. The steelers are a made and protected franchise who have always got those kind of calls in their favor. The Patriots can't even compete when it comes to that. And Cowher doesn't in any way, at all, in your wildest fever dreams of reality, belong in the HoF.
@@anthonyciancio5727 yeah, no
Everybody knows Rothlesburger was short on that dive to the end zone.
He wasn’t though. The ball crossed the goal line on the initial dive attempt
Not everybody, only 8.
Every Seahawks fan thinks Big Ben crossed the plane after he was down, but he crossed the plane in the air before he was touched.
Is was at Parris Island during this game, only super bowl I've missed.
James Harrison was a special team player, let that sink
I came back just to see this atrocity. The ref’s been fucking off games
The final ABC broadcast of a Super Bowl and a NFL game
*Interesting fact, ABC sent Al Michaels to NBC so that Universal can give Walt Disney Company Disney’s creation Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
Oh ok
Thanks
I was wondering how they got Oswald back
Must of been and the 2004 Steelers were wayyy better than 2005 imo
Do not forget Seahawks won first Super Bowl in 2013 stop hating 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The most FIXED super bowl I’ve ever seen
Steelers still better not like shaun Alexander toted the rock
Tbh Seattle could be 3/3 for Super Bowls
im more pissed about this game than i am about super bowl 49
I'm a Steelers fan, but the Seahawks got shafted big time in this game. Seahawks fans anger is warranted and then to add insult to injury they got shafted by your own coach 9 years later. Thank god they at least won one.
The refs took two touchdowns off the board with bogus calls that's pathetic
I miss Jerome "the bus" Bettis💯
Not a Steelers fan but totally agree
The title of “Legendary Coach Finally Climbs The Mountain” should’ve gone to the recent events of the 2024 CFP National Championship, as this should’ve had the title of the worst officiating in NFL history.
It was matchfixed
matt was throwing dimes

I'd pay to see how Twitter would have reacted to this game had it existed then
Must of been and the 2004 Steelers were wayyy better than 2005 imo
Lol, chaos. Would have been pure chaos.
Foi o Último Super Bowl Com Narração da ESPN em Bristol de 2007 ate hoje A ESPN no Brasil Faz as Transmissões de Super Bowl ao vivo do local onde a partida acontece.
6:56 big Ben: look up
Illegal block below the waist thrown against a quarterback trying to make a tackle on his own interception. Ok, refs.
Who chooses bittersweet symphony for their entrance song?
😂

Former Packers QB
I miss 2005!
Super Ref Bowl 40 🎉
Must of been and the 2004 Steelers were wayyy better than 2005 imo
@@eric3298 That is true, but Pittsburgh needed a title for Bettis and it would've been a crime for Cowher not to win a title before retiring
This channel is how a young man learns about the NFL!!
