Because of the brush not dispensing enough/it ending up in the air, I ended up taking the powder out of the colorescience packaging and putting it in an empty loose powder pot, so I can just apply it with a regular makeup brush and have more control over how much product i use, plus it makes it easier in terms of cleaning the brush regularly :) I just use it as a top up sunscreen on top of my base protection
I had to pour its contents into a separate container and only use it before I left the house. I was not able to carry it around. I absolutely love the liquid. Small bottle. Expensive.
I think this would be good for setting my sunscreen. I normally use a generic setting powder...but this would be like..the sunscreen cherry on the sunscreen sundae..
Hi Sarah this and others like it aren't for me, but I don't know anyone who would be using it as their sole sunscreen. I would think it's only for topping up or mattifying another spf. I use very little normal powder on my severely dry, mature, rosacea and eczema prone skin - so this just has never appealed. Bare minerals were the first to release this type of product many many years ago now, but there are others in different price points. Colour science is even more expensive in the UK than it is in the US, pretty much pricing themselves out of the market in many ways. I did fancy the eye spf with the peach tint, but quickly decided to use a normal spf and peach corrector lol (how much! gasp). All that buffing with the applicator may not work for sensitive skin either. if i need something to go on top of makeup I use a spray spf, but I know it's not going to give me a full dose of spf - it's just a bit of a top up. I think this would perform a similar function. If i;m out in full sun I don't wear makeup and reapply proper spf, but to be real I'm someone who seeks the shade as much as possible. Bright sun gives me a headache, prickly heat and wrinkles - all round I avoid it, whilst still enjoying the warmer weather. Best wishes.
I bought this as a booster to top up midday at work loll. I work mostly inside but go outside at lunch for about 30 mins. I don't have time to reapply liquid ones (have tinted in the morning... so hard to apply on top). Haven't used this yet but I think an SPF boost is better than nothing.
Oh thank goodness, I totally agree with you! I was nervous about your review, because this stuff has been all over RUclips, etc. TOTALLY UNRELIABLE! I couldn’t tell if any was coming out. I Immediately tossed it.
I use it to set my sunscreen... Give an added boost and take away any shine/greasy look. I keep it in my car (convertible) and touch up throughout running errands and every time I get in the car I brush some on the back of my hands and chest if wearing a v neck or unbuttoned shirt.
Thanks for the review! people rely on those powders far too much in my opinion...and probably don't use enough due to the price. I won't be trying it, personally. I would rather stick with liquid sunscreen so I actually feel protected.
I unscrew the cap and pour some of the powder on the back of my hand and apply on my face so I can actually see how much powder comes out. I don't trust their advice about application. You're right, it does leave the skin dry 😔
I actually really like this powder. It's one of the few talc free powders on the market. I have dry skin and don't find it drying at all (I suspect maybe you have the old formulation). I don't perceive it as sun protectant, it's just a nice tinted powder in my book, blurs the pores nicely and makes my skin appear smoother. The packaging and the brush is disgraceful though, I had to buy an empty powder case to be able to use it. For the price, I definitely expected a better quality brush. They make big claims about this product being water resistant, which I must say - in the summer, when I am sweaty, I think does help with the sun protection (in terms of preventing my spf from melting away with the sweat lol)
I love this powder, hate the dispenser. I decant this into a powder compact. I have tried other brands, but I find this to be the best powder. It looks natural over my sunscreen.
For the price I was expecting the brush to be softer and firmer so the powder does not go flying in the air. I noticed that I would get the powder heavy on some areas and light on others so the coverage of this you definitely can not rely on it for the spf.
You are so right. This is okay as a supplemental sunscreen, or an additional layer, but no way would I ever rely on it as my sole source of protection, especially on very sunny days or very sunny areas!
@@NOBSBeauty can I ask how you reapply sunscreen over makeup, esp on sunny days when multiple reapplications are needed? I just can't figure out how to do this !
I have bought three of these and I hate the dispenser. Too expensive to not work. When it does work, as a topper I like the look, but it’s not a repurchase for me.
How strange this is , as if you knew ! 😉 Yesterday I took my Brush On Block out to wash the brush 🤗, same powder SPF like this one . I never use it on its own , i only keep it in my handbag for extra application during the day if needed. The cloud of power is driving me crazy !! Goes everywhere apart from my face 😆 Yes, good to have just in emergency
I tried this for afternoon touch ups, omg lol, what a blustering messy cloud of I don’t know what all over the place (spf aside). If I persisted for spf I’d be a veeerrryyyy powdery crazy looking sand dune. Great review! Thanks 😊😊😊
Please do a review of Skin Better Science (Sun Better Tone Smart SPF 68) I wonder if it's worth as a reapplication some dermatologist relied to it as their based sunscreen, it's not a powder but a compact like a solid foundation. It has the same price as Colorescience powder
Thanks for giving us the no BS commentary on this. Because I'm oily I am forever looking for the best non-sticky sunscreen and had my eyes on this but I'm going to stay clear now.
I also have a very oily T-zone face iam still tying to find a mineral sunscreen I like still there way to oily but I put this powder over the sunscreen & it makes it less oily .
Hello from Portugal. Have you seen the new la roche posay mineral age control sunscreen? I am crazy about spf and still looking for a mineral that substitutes comfy water from purito. All the best:)
I've seen LRP has a few new sunscreens coming out- I am so excited to try them out- wondering how hard they will be to smuggle them into the US? I'll be doing a top mineral spf video next week!
Exactly! After I bought it, I found out after the fact that I wasn't getting the SP protection from the small amount dispensing from the brush. I hated it actually, lol. I had to wash the brush to get the powder to dispense, what a pain, lol. Mind you, I always put on sunscreen and kept this in my purse, I will never buy it again. Not worth the money in my opinion. 😉
It is clear that this reviewer did not actually research this product. First, she comments that it is one of many powder sunscreens. True, but it was actually the first company to introduce an FDA rate SPF 30 and later SPF 50. Another commenter mentions Bare Minerals, which was actually the first company created by the founder of Colorescience before investors took over the company and later cheapened the product with fillers. The SPF and Very Water Resistant ratings are from the FDA and every batch is tested. So yes, it will give you SPF 50 and last up to 3 months if applying only to the face. A high end product like this is best purchased from a skin care professional if you're not going to properly research it yourself. I have used their SPF almost exclusively since 2005. I live in Hawaii and don't burn when using this for hours at the beach, often without reapplying. I do repply after being tumbled around in the ocean. I also towel off gently to maintain the integrity of the product, but this would be the case for liquid sunscreens also. This product is especially amazing for getting the hairline, ears, and back of the neck, which are usually missed when people apply liquid sunblock and areas prone to skin cancer.
I appreciate your candor- this is probably better than no sunscreen but I would hate for someone to get burned by solely trusting this product because there is absolutely NO way this is SPF 50 as applied by the average person.
I always wondered about inhaling all that powder???.. 🤔...never trusted this product as a real SPF but as you said, I the summer I guess is nice...just to diminish that shiny look!!!.. great review 👍👍.... expensive product though...
These brush-on SPF powders should *never* be used alone to achieve reliable sunscreen protection. They are more like the frosting on a cake, and should be applied over a good base layer of sunscreen lotion/cream. These powder SPF products are really only useful to reduce the shine some sunscreens may give, with the added bonus of SPF to insure that you don't disrupt the base layer SPF you've applied underneath. Unless you're a makeup wearer, I would suggest to skip these SPF powders all together. Find a matte sunscreen, or learn to embrace the shine. Gimmicky at best, and often expensive for what it's worth. They can also be tricky to use successfully, and become cakey very quickly, especially when the time comes to reapply your base sunscreen layer on over top, as you should be doing throughout the day.
Frosting on the cake is the best way to describe these. It surprises me that they can even market those powders as SPF 50! As used by most people its probably closer to spf 10.
I just order it on LovelySkin.com, I see the price too high, so I’m lucky found it on sale on this page , 1 set for $66 , because I just want to try it to see if it work for my skin, but I’m agree with u is too pricey
I tried this one and another brand and am not a fan. Firstly, you need to pad your face clean from oils or it patches up. Secondly it gives a very mat, and ghostlike "dead" skin look to the face and for mature skin it expresses all the wrinkles. Rather just reapply fluid sunscreen. I don't wear make up so perhaps for people who are used to powdering their face, it ll be okay. But the powder is kinda like more waxier? then a setting powder and for me it feels and looks like a really thick and mat layer of powder on the face. Sorry, I hate it . Want to mention my experience has nothing to do with the quality of this product, Colorescience is know for being a good brand, I just don't like how it looks on my face.
They are incredibly overpriced for what it is. For that price the application should be wayyyy better. I could hardly get any product out. I prefer the SuperGoop 100% mineral powder.
let's face it, powder sunscreens probably don;'t work very well if at all, unless you apply a ridiculous amount of it and end up looking like a cake and then you'd go through the bottle in like a week, oh and even as a top up method it sucks, just saying
It's better than nothing. Especially for those of us of colour, where most high factor SPF 50+ sunscreens are gonna leave us looking like a ghost - so not workable to keep reapplying. So there is a need for powder sunscreens, but brand's need to keep fine-tuning it.
@@freedomlife5968 Doesn't change my comment. Something is better than nothing.
