One time I got stuck in an elevator it was horrible. I pushed the floor I was going to and the doors closed but the elevator did not move. Luckily it was a glass one so I knocked on the glass to get my moms attention. And she reported it to a manager and the manager rescued me.
A tip: next time that happens to you, try pressing "door open". 😉 Hold it until the doors have fully opened and you can safely step out. P.s. Chances are, in your case, a contact that signals to the controller that the doors are fully closed and locked failed to make, thus rendering the elevator unable to depart. Sometimes, simply cycling the doors again will wipe any corrosion off the contacts and solve the issue temporarily.
