    As someone who watches him play every chance i get, he doesn't cherry pick, he just has very high positional IQ. He finds pockets on the ice to make plays and has tremendous vision. He'd have many more assists if his teammates didn't shoot the puck in the boards so many times.
    Doesn't help that he and Konecny play exclusively RW 5v5 so therefore cannot play together. He's stuck qith thirdine guys. He's going to rack up 100+ point seasons with the right center.

    You're a Shark's fan...you wear Philly today but you're not Philly. Obviously biased, but we're hockey fans, that's what we are when it comes to our teams. ;) What you seem to forget, or maybe don't realize, he hasn't been on the first line since being sat out for two games. Since then, he's come back with vengeance and just recently been promoted to the second line from the third. I love this kid's fire. I like the fact he didn't return to the line up pouting, instead, came back with a chip on his shoulder with something to prove. I love the fact he doesn't back down from anyone...though I do fear for his life some nights.
    Look at the first goal he scored against Oilers...absolute determination...he would not be denied. Has scored three OT goals already...nerves of steel. Last night swatted away the ref's whistle after he lost his mind...kid hates losing. I love that over-the-top competitiveness.
    As for him "cherry-picking." Torts encourages this...the whole team does it. You obviously don't watch Philly games anymore like you did as a kiddo. Torts is building the team around this kid. What Tort says about the "cherry picking" is every player must remember their defensive responsibilities but they are about taking risk. Tort says there will be dumb mistakes but he's fine with that as long as they show him they learnt from them.
    As for even strength points. They're coming now. He hasn't had a steady line up since the season started. And still has 25 points with all these different combinations. Superstars generally get a lot of points on the man advantage...you can't knock him down for that. He's figuring the even strength game. Kid barely speaks English...must be confusing at times on the ice for him...and yet...has 25 points in 26 games.
    Anyways, as a fellow biased fan, kid's got rockstar written all over him. Just like Celebrini does. A lot of wicked young talent pouring into the young league. We got some awesome hockey these next two decades, dude!

    9:20 v Sharks. This is NOT cherry picking 101 by Michkov. Cherry-picking involves a player stays near the opponent's goal rather than participating in defensive plays or helping their team in their own zone often at the expense of the team's overall performance. Leaving the zone early during a penalty kill is a tactical decision aimed at benefiting the team by taking advantage of an opportunity. I'd argue it's a strategic opportunity. By leaving the zone early during the PK, Michkov took a a calculated decision to create an offensive opportunity. On the other hand, look at Ovechkin in his early days, lingering on the opponent's blue line and having zero ownership of defensive responsibility in his own zone.

    • @ITS_ABOUT_HOCKEY

    Definitely not cherry picking on the San Jose goal. He did this a number of times in the KHL and was never burned by it. You can see he turns his skates out so he can come back if the play sours but he's reading the turn over. It's barely a risk unless you don't trust your dman to not pass if the lane closes.

      @ITS_ABOUT_HOCKEY  Месяц назад

      Cherry picking is when you hangout behind the opponents defense. That’s what he did. He left the zone early anticipating a pass. What I’m saying is had Philly turned it over, it would be a bad look for him because they had taken full possession when he was already at center ice.

    Absolutely dug the video. Thanks for the time and details.
    Michkov is a gym rat. He loves hockey and legitimately wants to get better; his skating will improve as he gets stronger, and Whitney should need to re-evaluate his assessment. Torts might actually be the perfect coach for him to begin his career with, as he was for many, including Werenski. Hoping Michkov's not injury prone, and he ultimately proves to be something in the neighborhood of Pavel Datsyuk, which I regard to be just about the top of the mountain, among very thin air.

He also fumbles passes and turns over the puck more than I'd like to see. Maybe its because he is 19, but to me that's a core hockey skills? Philly needs a finisher and they got it. Highly confusing comment, you don’t have a ppg pace by being bumbling with the puck, if anything he will learn how to slow the game down with his insane puck handling and elite passing, he tends to want to pass it to quick but that could just be from acclimating himself from the khl style of play and ice size….when he puts it together he’s going to be even more elite….hes not confident yet in that he’s hes scoring but once he learns to slow the pace down sometimes he’s gonna go from a raw talented ppg player to a bona fide 100 plus points a year. He would have probably 5 more points If so,e of his teammates didn’t miss wide open nets not expecting an insane pass that he made.

He clearly is an intelligent player with the scoring touch. Also keep in mind his shooting % more likely than not will go down. I feel like people are afraid to note his weaknesses. As a flyers fan I actually agree with most of what you've said. His 5 on 5 play was really bad for the first 15 games or so. I think he was a -9 through 15 games. But he has learned how to play 5 on 5 since then. He's now a +5 on the season so that means through 12 games he was a +14 which is insane for a rookie. I do disagree with the cherry picking thing though, torts is instructing him and other players to do that, he's said it multiple times in press conferences cause the flyers sometimes struggle offensively. But overall michkov doesn't drive the offensive play as much as I thought he would, he doesn't play fast with the puck on his stick through the neutral zone, but the kid produces and that's what matters.

      @@ITS_ABOUT_HOCKEYbrother if you watch a flyers game you would see how many chances he creates 5 on 5. If frost could hit an empty net he’d have 30 plus points by now.

      @ look man I’m not saying he’s a bad player by any means, but it’s a known thing that his 5 on 5 game isn’t stellar. I clearly gave the guys his props multiple times in the video.

    Don't sleep on Hutson
    He just broke the NHL rookie points streak by a game. A record that stood from 1984
    Held previously by Chris Chelios also 2nd in rookie Points with 19 as a D

    • @Remmy0930
      @Remmy0930 Месяц назад +4

      Agreed, but they are ALL assists by a D man. Not nearly as exciting. Especially when half or more are secondary assists. Hutson has a bright future for sure though... he just won't be winning the Calder or even coming close to it with guys like Michkov, Celebrini, Stankoven, and Wolf all in the mix as well.

      I'm pretty sure that was just a Habs record he broke. Shayne Gostisbehere had a 15 game point streak in his rookie year

    On the sharks goal that is no where near cherry picking. He doesnt leave the zone until his teammate touches the puck. Would you like him to stay back for no reason? or get open for a breakaway?

  • @Mrbone009

    He needs to continue his shot but once he does watch out. Philly's version of Patrick Kane

      Not the same stick handling or quick release but he works the corners like Kane and finds the open areas of the net in close like Kane.

    He was a -5 at the end of October He’s a +10 since November 1st and a +9 since torts benched him for 2 games If that doesn’t jump off the screen to you showing he’s a very young guy but he listens and and has gotten substantially better and continues to work at his 5/5 game
