I was surprised I didn't see the Jaguar XF on this. 4 Doors, naturally aspirated V8 sending power to the rear wheels. I get an average of 21 mpg on the streets and have seen it go up to 27 mpg cruising highway. I also have a decently heavy foot so I am sure you can do better. The reason for its low mpg is highly due to the low drag coefficient.
@@elijahjones8351 haha yes. Mine is doing okay but definitely is not Japanese reliability. They did improve from the past though but if not maintained well then will be risky
Correct. Horse power of the LT4 is 200 more than the stingray's LT1. Same for torque. Mileage a little worse though but definitely should have made the list.
Marcelo B Still an American car. show's it. 455 out of a 6.2 engine? That's just having a laugh. I like the corvette, it's a sexy ass car. But in the end it's still built by americans, who as we know, like to built everything crude. It's also not the no.1, the BMW m6 is. 4.4L v8 with 560hp and get's a average mpg of 28. What i'm saying is that Cnet, like every american show out there will always be bias to american cars.
What's laughable is the LT1 is smaller and lighter than most, if not all, of the other engines on this list. Obviously you don't understand much about the LT1, but it is an impressive engine American or not.
2006 5.7 hemi charger 350hp 390tq 4100lbs 0-60 in 5.9 sec 18 mpg in the city and 25 and a half mpg on the highway of course i drive about 5 mph under the speed limit lol otherwise she will give me shit milage but im happy, neighbor has a ss trailblazer 6.0v8 and he get 14 mpg in the city and just 21 mpg on the highway but the truck is nice
I knows this is not exactly an average joe kinda car but what about Koenigseggs models like the One:1? Just shy of 3000 pounds and 1340hp on E85("only" 11xx hp on normal pump gas). Don't know about the milage though :P
WarmSoftKitty yup, it was a case of "It isn't what you drive, it's how you drive" best I could get out of that car was just over 850kms a tank. it's supposed to average 10-12 litres per100kms kinda blew that out of the water XD
People I think Brain and his staff know WTF they are talking about, after all they do this for a living among other related things. I'm not trying to sound like a ass but y'all are disagreeing on the outcome and that's your right but I think they got this!
keri ellerbe You meant they got this sponsored. He "reviewed" Maybach, and "found" flaws from his perspective, seriously, that should have been the end of his "professional" car reviews.Journalists rarely know what they are takling about especially ones with BA in English and even Masters in Journalism, educated jounalists that are also mechanical engineers do.
If only there was a way to make an engine that burned something that didn't emit C02 I think if it didn't emit toxic gases I don't think anyone would care about mileage But what do I know
Who is designing these Vetts lately? First they make them aluminum then they put a decent suspension on it and now this! I expect my american cars to go fast in a straight line, not be able to handle, and look plastic.
V8 yesterdays engine? MadMax, BMW, Mercedes and Audi do not think so.But no cnet us bias, the corvette is the best, yeah right better then Mercedes SLK55, get real.
J4ckCr0w The Corvette has much better power development than the SLK55 yet returns nearly the same MPG combined. In fact, it's actually 1 MPG better out on the highway. There was no bias, they're simply ranking them based on MPG, power and power to weight ratio, which is where the Corvette is superior to anything German.
Brian Cooley is BACK!!
you're forgetting the McLaren 3.8L V8... it completely avoids gas guzzler tax
MrPl0xygen That gets ~18; 4 shy of the Corvette's average.
I watch cooley reviews on a 75 inch tv and grab a beer. Such a relaxing weekend.
I get 22 mpg on my mustang gt and in the highway it goles over 30mpg.
Mustang gt 2019
The C7 is gorgeous!

Prolly bc that car is an unreliable nightmare ( maybe not yours, but most of them yes )
@@elijahjones8351 haha yes. Mine is doing okay but definitely is not Japanese reliability. They did improve from the past though but if not maintained well then will be risky
How about a video that shows the same thing but with pickups...
C.edwards Lauderdale true but we have an infinite amount of those alone from the manufactures themselves really...
Yess. That's the one I'm interested in
Ariel Atom V8...?
Wtf cnet. You say the c7 stingray wins the test yet all the video clips were of the z06..
Regardless, it's still a c7.
xxthehuskycaboosexx But different engine.
Correct. Horse power of the LT4 is 200 more than the stingray's LT1. Same for torque. Mileage a little worse though but definitely should have made the list.
Sarin Murlidar exactly lol
Lol I noticed that immediately too
Seems a little backwards. Usually a hear power divided by weight, here it is weight divided by power.
V8 engines are slowly fading into oblivion in new cars
Nissan GTR is only V6 and its a supercar.
Wesley95501
I think Lotus too
Wesley95501 yes GTR is great
american show, american car in no.1 who would have guessed hmm..

akaSkItTLes23 that's odd. When I looked up a 2015 bmw m6, I saw 15 city, 22 highway
Unless if your dumb and don't understand numbers.
akaSkItTLes23 Germans engineer cars and Americans don't.
Wow Corvettes are cheaper than I thought. That's a great performance to price ratio compared to the rest on the list.

AMGV Media But over 1100 hp on pump gas. Not so awful.
a 2012 SRT Challenger 6spd...32MPG.. o_o I miss that car... I need one more!!!! 392 HEMI BABY!!!!
WarmSoftKitty yup, it was a case of "It isn't what you drive, it's how you drive" best I could get out of that car was just over 850kms a tank. it's supposed to average 10-12 litres per100kms kinda blew that out of the water XD
If the car gets old, will perhaps consume more gas?
Lexus 4.6 has good gas mileage
Lexus 4.0 and 4.3 aswell
They showed a zo6 with the lt4 V8🤣 interested of the stingray
I like the 4th car.
wheres zo6?
You forgot koenigsegg and their v8's
GG I'm done I expected the mclaren mp12c
He said "we selected cars only" the C7 is a sports car.
Is a sports car not a car? Lol
09Mrsubaru He said not trucks, all cars are counted
focused313 Not the kind u drive to a meeting
Mozon Penguin Good point.

When I see BMW's on the same list with the fuel efficient cars I just..I'm just done..
If only there was a way to make an engine that burned something that didn't emit C02
I think if it didn't emit toxic gases I don't think anyone would care about mileage
But what do I know
Co2 isn’t toxic
lol an 80s olds 307 had better mpg than all of them
Who is designing these Vetts lately? First they make them aluminum then they put a decent suspension on it and now this! I expect my american cars to go fast in a straight line, not be able to handle, and look plastic.
Yes. The chassis is aluminum. The body panels are composite except the roof and hood are carbon fiber.
Alaric Williams Then buy an old car if you don't like advancements.
Leo the Weirdo Why would I do that? The improvements are so unexpectedly awesome.
Alaric Williams Because you said you don't like American cars with good handling and looking plastic-y, or maybe I just read that wrong.
Leo the Weirdo It's hard to do irony in text. I was making fun of previous Vetts that I would never buy.

USA USA USA. 🇺🇸
Those MPG numbers are pretty pathetic. How are you comparing 21 MPG to a Prius that gets well over double that?
😐🙄
When have you taken a Prius to the track or raced another fast sedan? Ok figured that.
calls 20 mpg good
clicks off video
A Jaguar F-Type v8 will get 25 mpg. I hate cnet on cars they are never right
zentornogamer ! The were talking about combined rating, not highway. The F-Type R V8 coupe gets 18 combined, which is less than the Corvette.
You mean petrol not gas. Petrol is a liquid not a gas so y do Americans call it gas
Ross Dew Gas is short for gasoline
ballshet
What BS is these numbers??
First
