  • Special thanks to similar videos already on RUclips. I would not have known how to replace it otherwise. Helped a lot. Much appreciated!

Thanks so much for showing what it's not supposed to do. I inherited a knitting machine that was my grandmother's and the most frustrating thing is making the thing operational with no knowledge of what it's supposed to be like.

You're welcome. Thanks to the community of machine knitters keeping this craft alive, I was able to learn this and pass it on. Couldn't do it without the help of others. Knitting machines are not very intuitive. Once you learn how to make it go, you have some really specialized knowledge. Happy Machine Knitting!

Many thanks. Very clear and the 'before' and 'after' video was excellent.

Thank you. I think this may be one of the issues with my machine.

@@gemfoxfoodandcraft is it PVA glue? I live in Russia and it's hard to find such glue. so I asked what kind of glue it was so that I could find an analogue. is this glue recommended for which materials?

Hello, yes, it is polyvinyl acetate based glue, meaning PVA is a component of it, considered non-toxic and used for general purpose. We know it regionally as "school glue" or "white glue". Hope that helps!

Thanks . But kya hm ise bina plastic ke USe kr skte hain

Hello! If you can find a foam that is not plastic, give it a try :) Maybe natural sea sponge or natural rubber foam - but either way I think it will compress over time and have to be changed regularly. The foam I used is easy to obtain, but use whatever is available to you and do tell us how it goes! Happy crafting ^_^!

You ever figure out how to make your own sponge?

Hi, I haven’t tried yet cuz I haven’t needed to change it since I made this video. But I’ve heard of some people using window seal from home centers. I imagine you could also rotary cut some strips off the right thickness and density of foam from craft stores and other sources. The sponge sold specifically for this purpose doesn’t seem special in any way. I do think it could be diy-ed. Having the original sponge bar does help in trying to approximate it. Hope that helps! Happy knitting ^_^
