I have been pondering picking up this bot ..I really dig the PoTP version.

I liked the PoTP version but I always thought it could be better. Due to my current aesthetic for my collection Legacy is the better figure

Wow, the Energon Beachcomber is rather hard to come by, my bro, being from the fourth (& final wave) of the toy line and all. I think that is the only one I could never find to complete my Energon collection characters. This was further compounded by the fact that he never had a Japanese equivalent (I only have the SuperLink Overdrive from that mould.)
Great comparison video, bro! Ideally, for a mould collector, we either keep the original POTP version and wait for the Legacy mould to be repainted/get retooled; or hold on to the Golden Lagoon redeco of the POTP version and get this Legacy iteration with the extinct rubber bird to represent the character proper. [Or, better still, if G1 toy scale is canon, just hold on to the Legends/Henkei version of the character (and perhaps repurpose the Sandstorm redeco of that same smaller tooling as a new character from Paradron)!] 😂
PS. The fun bit about the POTP version is his ability to attach the small guns from the Prime Master suits (best match with Metalhawk's 3mm handgun), have Titan Masters & Prime Masters drive him (with a dedicated seat in the 'elongated mode' you showed, have him hold the full Pretender weapon mode, and further extended interactivity with the various Autobut Leader & Titan Class bases from the Prime Wars Trilogy. In short, his 'play factor' is phenomenal. And although most of the recent toys are great at posing, I personally find that that's all that's good about them. They don't seem to have anything else unique about them than promotes play. And if toys don't encourage play, then they have failed at their primary purpose, man. Man, most of them end up becoming 'dust magnets' at the end of the day due to how uninteresting then end up after the 'novelty factor' wears off. 😂

I never did too many of the PoTP titan masters. I see the PoTP version was supposed to have a Titan Master in it, but upon retrospective, I believe he was designed to do both. Yeah I have Energon Beachcomber. I got him from the NC Flea Market a long time ago for $20

@superroboted Awesomeness, bro... Always dreamed of 'Powerlinxing' SL Overdrive with Energon Beachcomber (to form OverComber or BeachDrive?) 🤣
NB The PotP toys are generally really that ~ genuine toys meant to be played with. All 3 lines can, in some way, at least, interact uniquely with each other. Beachcomber retains various play patterns like wide-scope 5mm compatibility (in Robot Mode, by extension enabling assorted TR & LG mini-vehicle weapon & Prime Master Pretender Armour weapon use), 3mm compatibility (in vehicle mode), thereby enabling the use of a good number of the older Cyberverse, G2, Machine Wars & Robot Masters weapons & accessories plus current Core Class weaponry), Titan Master & Prime Master compatibility (in vehicle mode), cargo ability with Takara's HFTD Seaspray & Generations Deep Dive (a perfect fit inside the hovercraft ~ can even rival Scout Class HFTD Breacher in this aspect!), plus is of a good size in both modes to display in Fort Max and the other Autobot Class bases (both official & fan modes). (Not bad for a so-called 'pacifist', eh, my bro?)
Meanwhile, the new Legacy one is a bit larger, has a rubber bird & some pinned rubberized wheels with contemporary pose-ability (that has honestly not only been taken for granted, but even expected in modern toys)! But after a while, he will just be kept as a display piece on a shelf or back in the storage bin with all the other hunks of plastic amassed over the years. That's life.
PS. When in storage, one must take extra steps to ensure he is kept in a zipped bag without his rubberized bits touching any other hard plastics. Otherwise, there will be catalysed chemical reactions (between the metal pin, rubbery bits & hard plastic), warping, and plastic searing over time. Happened to so many of my toys over the years that it surprises me HasTakTom toy designers never seem to learn (or marketing makes them 'unlearn' very fast so that they can sell more toys)! 😆 🤣 🤣 😂 😹 😆

@@superroboted You're welcome. I have always viewed Beachcomber being smaller compared to the other Autobots, similar to Bumblebee and Wheelie being smaller. lol

The parakeet is a reference to the one episode in season 2 where they discover a golden lagoon. There's a scene where a bird lands on Beachcomber. Lol i got this guy the other week and he's pretty good. Dune buggy mode is a little blocky though

I like him I agree this was a must have. The problem I have with the bird is it's just so unnecessary. And I lost it three times already.
