Met Jeff Watson at a guitar clinic once. Genuinely nice guy. He took the time afterwards to show a few people some of his techniques one-on-one. Thing I remember most about Brad Gillis was that he played for Ozzy after Randy Rhodes was killed.
My friends and I saw Night Ranger in Rolla MO in about 1989. The concert was general admission. We got there pretty early and we were in the front row. They were so awesome all of us were totally blown away. They played their stuff really great. We boosted Matt up in the air and he grabbed the whammy bar on Brad Gillis' guitar. Brad waved his finger at him and gave him a few stainless steel guitar picks.
Jeff Watson is a MONSTER Player. Legend has it he is THE ONE who started the eight fingering technique on the guitar. And on one sunny day he meets his good friend Eddie Van Halen. He shows off his technique to EVH who asked if he could copy that technique. And that ladies and gentlemen is why EVH played the guitar like a lap guitar. Not wanting to step on Jeff's toes and copy him directly he turned the guitar on its back.
@@JoeR203 my good man...please search on youtube.."Van Halen Live in Montreal". Fast forward to the 1:10 mark (one hour and ten minutes). He places his guitar parallel to the floor and plays his version of the Eight finger technique. I've seen him do that live myself. Thanks.
Only when you've seen a band that you love, can you truly appreciate if they have it,...or if they don't?! I judge a band 'live', doesn't make it right, just my personal thing,...
Randy Brindle Gillis is great in his own style but he’s NO Watson!!!! Gillis even said so in different interviews. As a Guitar player Watson is still at the top of the heap for me
Watched another video where Kelly was playing Pearl drums and Paiste cymbals in 1985. This is 1989 and he is playing Sabian cymbals and I think DW drums...not a clear shot...anyone know for sure?
Horrible. That was one thing that bothered me about Night Ranger. He's so excited singing that he misses half the notes! Great singer and band, though.
No we can't, might offend Obama "the MUSLIM" and little shit stains like yourself. Say goodbye to America if Dems ever get in control, guarantee you that.
I love Jack Blades as a singer, but I could never be in a band with a person who doesn't play bass in the pocket and goofs off, missing notes constantly. The way he plays bass live drives me insane to watch.
Awesome Song . This Shit is Horrible though .. What Like TWICE THE SPEED ? .. They LOADED or What ? ... the MAIN reason I didn't got to Concerts back in the 80's .. ( Which I regret some Now :) hahaha ) .....
gremlinjr2 drummers didn’t play with a click track in their “in ear monitors” like they do now....at least it wasn’t common from what I remember. Now they are common.
This music defined the last great musical generation. Thank God we can still see the videos
Gillis & Watson are the best guitar duo you don't know. And that's a shame.

There is only one way to describe Night Ranger -- PURE JOY!
With two lead guitarist, night ranger kick serious ass......

I've never seen EVH use 8 fingers for tapping.

One of the rare dual singer bands too!!
Brad Gillis a ham then and a ham now. Love them back as a teenager.
From Japan. Copied this song at high school. Gee, still is a damn good song.
This is a great live version! The guitars sound way heavier, especially during the verses with the palm muting and squeals.. love it!
It is the mesa boogie

No auto-tune. Genuine as they come. Loved them live. Woudn't mind seeing them live again.

I can still rock in America
Damn still Rocks today
You sure fucking can, still rock in America!
Had to have backing tracks chorus vocals. Love the band
look how much everyone in our generation loved America. Flags flying, cheering!! Today's generation would boo and jeer such patriotism...
Jeff Watson , way overshadowed by Brad Gillis,,,,Jeff could play that guitar like anything..
Randy Brindle Gillis is great in his own style but he’s NO Watson!!!! Gillis even said so in different interviews. As a Guitar player Watson is still at the top of the heap for me
I dont know if that was the best solo Gillis ever ripped out, but Watson never did better than that. That was smoking.
Happy 4 July 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Jeff Watson 😮
Is it me or is the tempo faster than I remember?
Who knew Jani Lane could solo like that? 😁
Nick Johnson Jeff Watson = Monster of Guitar!! Lmao Jani lane That was a good one

why they sound better live than the record
Why take out record studios half the bands were screwed
Hello 👋
Do jack playes bass live??
Damm Yankees wore this song out!!!!!
Need Sound Boost Adustment ! Thank You !
The keyboard player only appears for half a second, as usual.
The song is sped up. Maybe their bus's parking meter isn't paid out back?
I wonder what the isolated bass would sound like?
Horrible. That was one thing that bothered me about Night Ranger. He's so excited singing that he misses half the notes! Great singer and band, though.
I suspect the keyboardist is wearing out his left hand during live shows
I’m thinking he’s playing maybe half the notes and the keyboard is covering it.
Fun Fact: Every year, a shirtless former vice president Joe Biden listens to this song at full blast as he washes & buffs his Trans-Am in his driveway
Can we still rock in america?! #MAGA
Yes, we can, we’ve been doing it since the 50s, now do us all a favor and burn your maga hat
No we can't, might offend Obama "the MUSLIM" and little shit stains like yourself. Say goodbye to America if Dems ever get in control, guarantee you that.
My exact thoughts!!! MAGA!!!
LAMBO GUY God you are Fucking Stupid.
HELL YEAH we can!
Slow down guys!
