- Stuffing can be the only bread on your table. That would be completely acceptable. But you could also make Dilly Rolls which are a dilly (surprise!), bready delight that are easy to make and bake fast. This is my grandpa’s recipe and year after year it’s a crowd pleaser. People love Dilly Rolls and I love Dilly Rolls! So much so that we shot this video twice (yeast dies, if you didn’t know!)
Thank you, Fresh Direct for sponsoring Home Movies this week and making this Thanksgiving the stress-free one it is! Follow the link below to order all the ingredients you need to make Dilly Rolls and other recipes that are on this year's practically perfect menu:

Girl isn't the point of putting the dry yeast in the milk/sugar mixture to make sure it isn't dead? 😅Love it. CANNOT wait to make these dilly treats
Absolutely wild to me that literally yesterday, I was looking through A Newsletter to find stuff I could make and bring to the various potlucks and parties I have in the next few weeks, and I literally was like, “maybe I’ll bring these dilly rolls to Friendsgiving” and then this video drops today! It’s a sign
great gift
Liebe Frau Roman, versuchen Sie Blätter-Teig;):)..sehr lecker Bon Appetit
I do love the big sister energy Alison gives off while her rowdy little brothers giggle in the background
I don't think I've ever seen Alison's hands without nail polish. 💅 🤯 The rolls look incredible
I couldn’t figure out what was different about her in this video until I saw your comment about her nails!😂
HA!!!! I appreciate your commentary on the word moist and telling people to “grow up” 😆
Also - those rolls would be great with HAM!
This is a recent John Early joke. No shade to alison just want to point people towards his hbo special!
HAM PARTY
"the bowl! grow up!" hahahahah love this team
Appreciate the dead flowers to demonstrate the passage of time, and how it comes for us all (yeast included)
the edit on this was phenomenal
about the yeast: that is why I always mix it with the liquid (water or milk) and wait for it to foam before adding the other ingredients, even if the recipes does not call for that. About the rolls: absolutely beautiful and I am sure they taste divine!
Made this today, absolutely delicious. I kneaded in my stand mixer for approx 4 mins on a low setting rather than hand kneading. My oven cooked these fully in 30 mins, but then I have a fan oven. Definitely a keeper recipe.
The first time I ever had dill it was at a 4th of July thing at our local historical society and they were these cornbread muffins with dill and it was the most delicious thing I have ever eaten. I have forever chased that flavor, and my love of dill has only grown greater. I cannot wait to make these.
You SAVED MY LIFE with this promo code!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU FOREVER!!!!
"it would end in tears" somehow was so funny to me, the way you said it. I'm making these. they look like heaven.
Dinner rolls need to be at the table for sandwiches later that night . A must truly.
Made these last year and they’re always referred to as the dill dough rolls
Yessssssss 😂
"grow up." ~A. Roman
Oh, no you di'n't 😆
So making for my restaurant on Thanksgiving.
My kitchen is cold. I just learned a great way to provide a warm environment for my dough to rise. Turn your oven on and set to 400°. Set timer for one minute, then turn oven off and put dough in the oven. It's worked way better than leaving dough on my cold counter.
My kitchen is quite frigid, too. Sometimes in the winter, I put my small heating pad on the counter, cover with a towel and set my dough bowl on top of it. Keep it very low and it works perfect!
These are definitely going on our Tday table. This is very close to a recipe for Herb bread from Margaret Fox of Cafe Beaujolais in Mendocino, Ca. (Back in the good old days!) Will make the most amazing sandwiches with leftover turkey! Thanks so much, Alison and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone at Home Movies! 😘
Alison, you rock the kitchen. Dill rolls are my favorite. Now my TG and FG menus are complete. Thank you for this simple recipe. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your team!!!🦃🍗🥃🍾🥂
Best recipe ever, thanks for sharing it!!
Going to try to make these as sourdough rolls overnight proofed ! They look amazing. Thanks
I'm definitely baking those rolls! Looove dill & caraway.
Thanks Alison,🤗😁 I will be making these Delicious Dilly Rolls for Thanksgiving and possibly Christmas with some ham in them to go with our other appetizers 🤗👍👍😁❤️ Happy Holidays to You and Your Family 🤗🐖🎄🎉
Dilly dilly rolls! Can't wait to try these.
Great addition to this year's holiday meal....also, will try to make a pre-holiday batch today because I want to make certain my yeast is still alive! Thanks
Absolutely beautiful 🥰 I love dill🥰
gonna try this one for sure
Great recipe!
Loved how hones the edit was about dead yeast. It would be interesting to see real time reaction before cutting to the weeks later cut. And yes, the rolls were so cute!!
We're changing things up and doing a whole fish for thanksgiving. 100% making these to go with!!!
"Oxidized guacamole" 😂😂
“Dilly roll sounds” is the new “macaroni sounds”
I'm making these purely because a leftover breakfast sandwich with dark meat turkey, jellied cranberry sauce, gravy on top of mashed potatoes, bacon green beans and a dab of homemade habanero hot sauce sounds soooo good with these rolls
Making these tonight, along with your Green Beans and Greens and Fried Shallots, along with a roast chicken. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Home Movies Tuesday is my church
Yeast comeback of the year
old yeast is dead
@@davidcho0828 she can’t come to the phone rn
So that's why it wasn't included in the Thanksgiving video. Dead yeast! This is why they say to ALWAYS check the yeast first to see if it reacts.
Okay, here me out. My family does cornbread dressing *exclusively*. And we're talking dressing made with fine cornbread crumbs. No cut up pieces, no sausage, and absolutely no oysters. Like, I literally thought stuffing was a thing in movies.
But because of this, I think it's absolutely acceptable to have rolls on the table. They are totally different things that serve completely different purposes.
These rolls look great!
I’m curious if Alison has ever tried kulajda (Czech dill soup). I think it hits a lot of the common themes in her recipes.
Ever since the first Rob Thomas episode, I now have to rate things on a scale of Rob Thomases. Always.
The burnt out Duo Lingo bird killed me
the pepper thing at the end was... nice🙈
What are your recs on do ahead/freezing? Or is this a day of situation? Already did some and they’re 💯
the flowers ARE chaotic
Dillycious! ❤
Yayyyy 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Your shirt is even the right color!😂
These look amazing! Do you have recommendations for overnight proofing? Can't wait to make these, thanks for sharing!
I'm not sure if this is will help you but I proofed them in the fridge overnight last night. I had them proof on the counter for 20 minutes before I stuck them in the fridge. They rose quite a bit quickly but then it slowed down and they were perfect to roll and proof a second time once I got them out. King Arthur Flour has a great article on how to proof any dough overnight.
Thank you!
Cute! Personally I would definitely add both sage and oregano to the dill to make more an herb blend (just my style and kind of into that trinity) - is there a way to make these gluten free so my mom can eat it? For some strange reason, I feel like adding jam or other fruit preserves to these would be really nom? Kind of like a salty/herby meets sweet moment.
YUMMMMMMMM OOOOOO
Oxidized Guacamole is my drag name
I would come to your show.
I so want to make these for Thanksgiving. Can you freeze the dough? Meaning can the dough be prepared, shaped and placed in the baking tray and then placed in the freezer until ready to bake the day off? Or only freeze rolls after baking as instructed. I ask as I prefer to streamline as much as I can towards advanced preparations. I've a crowd of 29 coming. Thanks much in advance.
I’d like to know this as well
there used to be a joke about julia child making dill bread, which of course begins with your dill...DOUGH. i'll see myself out ~
🤣😂🥲I'm stealing this joke for my Thanksgiving dinner table!!!
it works best if you tell it as if you're doing an impersonation 🥰@@charlottemosinki1945
Plz help - what is the nail colour Alison always wears? I just love it. Thank you 🦋
It’s “Clam Bake” by Essie.
Thanks so much for responding 💜@@saltshakerthief
@@saltshakerthief They should really re-name it to Alison Roman's signature color.
Dan asking what does that sound remind you of completely sent me.
Anyone know if you can make ahead and freeze ? Should you freeze after the first rise before the bake, or bake and freeze?
Another dish of bread is UNHINGED. Lol.
Can you make ahead and freeze, then reheat day of?
All I can see is the Romanian flag 🇷🇴 made out of the colors on your fridge, and I would love nothing more then for you to do a food tour of that amazing country!
We do cook with a lot of dill so she would love it 😂😁
The back splash is sage.
More like avocado?
😂 plays with dough
This looks good but my family is pretty religious about having Hawaiian rolls at Thanksgiving. I want to try this but sub pineapple juice for the milk.
I don't have regular milk, just almond milk. You said no to that. Would buttermilk work, maybe watered down a little?
Wow! Definitely a top-tier version of Ukrainian pampushki
Anyone know where her green top is from. I love it, ugh!
Je suis burnt out aussi
Is there a reason you don’t combine the melted butter and milk to add at the same time?
I did a ham party but nobody really got it 😢
😢
Get new friends!!
@@accordionbabe HA! I was gonna say that ;-)
Can I refrigerate overnight for second rise? Then bake them the next morning??????
Honestly here for the #roundstuffing references
Wanna make this at 5:30pm for dinner at 6:30-7pm is it possible?
Ok, the pictures on the a newsletter email for this recipe are stunning 🤯 subscribe just to see the pictures of roll dough and the iconic geranium nail polish ✨✨
I'm actually quite certain...the milk was too warm (quick read thermometer OR error on the side of cool-er :-)
AND your Dilly rolls are indeed amazing!
Guess it’s still my Christmas then.
I bet the dilly rolls would be bomb with the ham from the Ham Party.
So true
oh my god, i had a dead dough today as well...what a chance
I want to know where is her jewelry from!!!
My yeast died as well. I failed to learn from your mishap 😭
Dill dough. 😊
Can this dough be frozen then baked?! If so, what do you suggest?
Freezing it, then baking it.
Do they need to sit out to rise after freezing before baking? If so, how long would be recommended?
@@MsJordieLynn I'm no expert but I would treat them like how you treat frozen Parkerhouse rolls. You wouldn't want to stick the frozen rolls into a hot oven. Either look online or check out the back of a Parkerhouse frozen roll bag. I think it's a two step process but I can't remember it off-hand. :-) good luck!
Next week maple tart reveal?😅
Missed opportunity to call it “Our Dilly Bread”
please rename the recipe to "bready delights"
dilly rolls and #roundstuffing
#roundstuffing
I’m going to rob Alison Roman and take nothing but the blue flaky salt dish in the background of Home movies .
What kind of flour is she using? AP or Bread flour? or a mix of both?
Dill flavor good for potatoes soups
Soup should be creamy
These look beautiful. Anyone have a suggestion to swap out dill? Can't stand the way dill tastes.
She also suggested caraway.
Rosemary/Thyme
@@gail1420great sub suggestion! I was intrigued yet cringing cuz of both dill & caraway. Thank you 🤗
Green onions would be yummy.
Thank you for spreading the truth about yeast. No, it isn't always fine! Sometimes it's DOA.
did Roman ever eat Semmelknödel? If so, why is she not doing them?
#releasetheyeastcut

Dell😮
dilly is dillying.
9:18 The word you were looking for is "dough baby" :')
