    I've had this knife for 2 weeks now and I love it. Great value. The ergonomics cannot be overstated. It's comfortable with a gorilla grip, choking up with the index finger on the choil, or reverse grip for combat, Filipino style. Light weight, 5 ways to deploy (though front flipping takes practice), smooth action, razor sharp factory edge, and I disagree, I think $85 was a reasonable price or I wouldn't have bought it. YMMV.

    I've had mine for a little over a week, for me this knife is frickin HUGE in my hand. My EDC for the last 25 years has been the Kershaw 1550 Blackout. I am not a collector (can't afford to be) lol. I was really hoping this would replace my old blackout, but unfortunately it will likely spend the majority of its life in the pouch. My dream is to someday have a Para 3 Maxamet to carry me through my golden years, something nice to pass down through the family after I'm Gone

    I already had both the Exiton and Ziffius plus the Sencut Watauga when I got this one. I'm totally pleased that I can carry on the job. This one is a bit overshadowed by the Vision FG, or it would be all over the community as the greatest economy knife ever.

    I love the look of this knife, when it dropped I’m like “yes! Finally an affordable Exciton” but upon learning that the blade steel was K110 I chose to buy the Vision FG instead and I definitely think I made the right choice. If Civivi releases this exact knife with 14c I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

    • @coreyhudson3484
      @coreyhudson3484 11 месяцев назад +1

      Interesting choice. Why do you prefer nitro-v over D2? (K110 is essentially D2 for clarity) I have knives in both of these steels and while I understand the situational advantages of nitro-v, D2 is better all around no?

    • @danpennella
      @danpennella 11 месяцев назад +2

      @@coreyhudson3484 I don’t prefer Nitro-V I just prefer the Vision FG which happens to have Nitro-V. I was saying if the Sentinel Strike had 14C28N then I would have definitely preferred that!

    I’ve got a lot of experience with using both d2 and k110 in a construction setting. K110 has slightly better edge retention but I find it rusted slightly easier. Not a major difference, but some.

    THANK YOU for "holding the line". I'm not so sure a "budget knife" shouldn't be under $65... or even $50! What is it? It's a nicely manufactured chunk of steel with a bevel on one side for very basic cutting tasks... and it has a bit of plastic, or fiber and resin to use as a handle. And yes, it has a simple hinge with mass-produced ball bearings. And they probably manufacture many of these knives with budget steels for about $2 to $3 each. My K110 FreeTiger FT-51 was $26, so... there's that!

    I reviewed this a couple weeks ago and said almost exactly what you said here.
    This is a Sencut knife at an elevated price.
    In fact, some Sencuts have T8 all the way around (like the Serene) and the same materials at $30 less.
    Like an idiot, I didn’t check the specs, and assumed at $85 we’d get G10, T8, and NitroV or 14c28n.
    I think it would have been better without the thumb studs, with G10 or all aluminum, T8 all the way around, and more and better jimping.
    And I don’t like the glass breaker bead.
    Seems gimmicky and you’ll need something like a Glock front sight tool to remove that tiny little nut.
    This should have been a $50 Sencut without question.
    It’s ok… it’s not great.
    And for $85, that’s not a budget knife for most people, so it should be closer to great than ok and it’s not.
    Feels a bit “cash grab-ish” and they got me.
    Won’t happen again, and I’ll certainly read the specs and be more cautious when purchasing my next CIVIVI.
    Good stuff as always, MC!

    Is it just me, or does it look like the XM8 rifle that was considered by the army about 20 years ago? The thumb hole looks like the carry handle, the curve of the spine matches the rifle. The black insert on the handle looks like the (rubber?) forend grip on the XM8 too.

    I like the black & gold and blade shape on the Exciton more, but this does look cool, but not $85 worth of cool when I can get particle steels for the same or cheaper.
    Now, I know you hate billboarding on blades but I think a completely blank blade makes me suspicious, perhaps because I feel like they’re not proud of they’re work if they’re not putting their name on it…. Kinda sorta.
    Also, I think you should consider adding Value Knives as a schema for say $75-$125 knives.
    Finally, bro, do you not go driving over rickety bridges all the time? 😏

    dumb question....but why does civi always put there Damascus blades on semi weird handles... like it wold be a nice, cheap, show off kind of knife that i can use to open boxes and packages at work and not care about it. but why green.... would love it with the stonewashed and black or the inverse... but its alwase green.
    i have a Damascus aultis that i ended up finding carbonfiber scales for, also modified some titanium benchmade bugout thumd studs, picked up the civi titanium clip set and anodised them blue and now it looks great, i guess i could sand of the green but aluminum is a pain in the ass to anodize and you need harsh chemicals and dyes... if they where steel i could cold blue them easily, and i know titanium is we's thing, aluminums fine but i guess i just wish they'd give us more options.
    idk just food for thought, at least it keeps me from spending a bunch of money on knives i dont kneed

      The main advantage of k110 is that you know where it comes from, aka made by Bohler. From what I understand regular D2 can be a bit opaque on where it comes from, and thus, what level of quality it is.
