      Mike Trout is taking the Henry Aaron approach to fame. He knows it brings a lot of trouble, more than it's worth. Trout is a private man, and a very wise man in that respect. I think it's actually a pretty good thing for his character that he hasn't won a World Series yet. It keeps you very humble to be on bad team after bad team. It keeps you from thinking you're hot stuff, keeps that ego down.
      There is a reason he walks more than anyone in the league. He's trying to get on base for the TEAM to drive him in.

      Steven Kunzer it’s really not though. That’s why WAR is great. It adjusts for eras. His WAR says that he is as dominant in today’s league as Ruth was in the 20’s. Take that with the fact that technology and training has made this the time of greatest talent, and it’s not hard to argue that Trout is the greatest man to ever play this sport

      Does WAR accont for expansion and different strategies of eras? Yes I like looking up WAR and it is probably the best all encompassing stat but I feel looking at WAR to WAR as the end all be all is obtuse. Look at the guys with 15 WAR seasons in the 1800’s for example

    It is in the interest of MLB to have the Angels get good now that he has signed that extension. If the Dodgers and Angels can both be good, and Trout can be in the Playoffs with Ohtani every year, baseball will not have to change anything to get back to the top of the sports ratings. Once the Pujols contract comes off the books, I hope they make some really good moves. Trout and Ohtani are both young, exciting, and marketable. I am a Red Sox fan, so I am glad that Trout isn't on a contender, but I still think it would be better for baseball if they figured out how to fix the Angels.

Watching the games i have never ever seen trout as dominant as arod was that season. No one who saw arod that season would ever despute who the better player was. In 2016 Trout hit 29hrs, 100rbi, 123runs, and 315avg. 441obp, 550slg. which was a great season but very weak to what we saw arod do in 2007 yet trout had a higher WAR. Trout also had a higher offensive WAR which is just ridculous. Its a shame ppl who dont watch baseball, dont watch the games will look back and actually say trouts 2016 season was better then arods 2007 because of a bias useless stat like WAR. People just repeat what others say, hes gotten off to the best start??? really? so if i run 3 miles in 30 minutes, your telling me a person who runs 1 in 15 is on pace to run 3 faster then me??? Lets look at first full 7 seasons Pujols vs Trout. It seems like you can double trouts stats and still be behind in WAR but i get it. MLB wants to reach american children, making him the face. they cant rely on traditional numbers cuz he gets killed by latino players arod and pujols in those numbers so well make advance stats that we cant actually see.
    Albert Pujols: .332AVG, 282HRS, 861RBI, 847RUNS, .420OBP, .620SLG, .1040OPS, 1344HITS, 2514TB
    Mike Trout: .310AVG, 235HRS, 632RBI, 773RUNS, 420OBP, .579SLG, 1.000OPS, 1160HITS, 2171

      TheBatugan77 idk man, I feel like since trout has come, how we view performance has changed to fit what he does well. They create this he’s on pace to be the best and show you advance numbers that nobody can see to back up there point. For a long time it was Latino players who were the face and in those countries kids wanted to play baseball. Ever since you saw the crazy crazy umpire calls in the WBC I knew something was off. Adam Jones said it that the MLB wanted to bring baseball back to the US, USA won the WBC that year and we saw some ridiculous calls during. Trout generates these advance numbers fast, it’s kinda crazy and they use that to built this false narrative. Idk what it is, a bias, am I just looking for a reason but something is wrong. There were articles and people saying last year he was off the maybe the greatest starts in a season and was on pace to have the best season ever with numbers in mid May inferior to what I’ve seen ppl do in April lmao 😂 what is going on lol guy has more war in his career then ichiro had his entire career lol it’s crazy and nobody questions this they just agree and call him the best player ever cuz mlb network said so.

My problem isnt with him its more with the pundits whos job is to know and analyze the sport completely ignoring and forgetting what guys like pujols did, i understand arod has an asterisk but anyone who played the game knows you gotta be damn good to put up arod numbers.

    • @exiled5160
      @exiled5160 4 года назад +1

      The reason they all have less WAR is because they all grounded in to double plays a bunch. Pujols line of 333 avg 420 obp and 620 slg looks beautiful and more eye popping than trouts BUT there are a few caveats. Pitchers throw harder today and you see more of them per game.making hitting today more difficult. Also angels stadium is a pitchers park and st. louis wasn't. which is why trouts ops+ is higher than pujols, aroid or miggy. But back to my point, when pujols grounds into almost 30 doule plays a season, hes cost his team around 3 wins or so. trout avoids them better than pujols, miggy, mays, aaron, griffey or bonds.

    First off Mansfield is a failed commissioner. Because of the shifting in baseball the viewership is down big time. Because the defense can literally put the whole damn infield or outfield on one side of the field. You might say well then hit it to the other side. You cant though because the pitcher pitches to the shift and forces the batter to hit into the shift. Making it a 1 2 combo that is destroying the game because people want to see action, hits, homeruns, offense. Not 4 infielders on the damn right side of the infield. This started to get out of hand 6 years ago or so. There should be a limit to which you can shift. There has always been slight shifting but for the past 6 years or so its gotten ridiculous. Every other sport has created rules to stop defenses from abusing a loophole. Like in the nba they put in the 5 second back down rule because of Charles Barkley. They put illegal defense where you have to be within a reasonable distance from the player you are guarding. They put the 3 second rule. In football they got tougher on passing interference calls because they want more offense and for defenders to not be able to abuse or stop long passes. They made it to where you cant hit the QB as hard because the QBs are the draw and people want to see offense. But in baseball you can put the whole damn defense on one side then the pitcher pitches to that shift and makes the game more boring. And that clown wonders why baseball is losing viewers lol. Give me a break. It because people dont want to see no offense because the whole damn defense is on one side of the field and the pitcher is pitching to that shift. Mike trout would average 335+ a season without this b.s. shifting that is out of control. But to ser this video break down the stats is crazy. Trout is a living legend. He should be the biggest athlete in the world. But because mlb and Mansfield has his head up his @ss the recognition isn't there.

    Trout is certainly a more complete position player than Williams, Ruth or Gehrig. Cobb might be similarly valuable in terms of base-running and defense. But the dead ball era is so different that it is almost like comparing the modern MLB to college Baseball. They just aren’t the same.
    Plus, Cobb was a nasty and violent racist. I don’t like Pete Rose much for the Hall of Fame. But I would trade Rose entering the hall for Cobb being removed from the hall. It’s an issue I really wish MLB would address. There should be a means for eliminating some players from the hall after we learn better.
    I could probably pick about 20 players that could easily be agreed by 75% of the writers today to be remove from the hall of fame. And most of them are dead already anyway.
