  • It finally happened. The showmatch to end all showmatches. Vaxei vs maliszewski. Two of the greatest osu tournament players of all time finally faced off against each other, and it was something that we will never see ever again. This ended up turning into one of, if not the most intense 1v1 in osu history. And it's crazy to think that none of this would've happened if the perfect storm of events did not go our way. Everything leading up to this moment was nothing short of miraculous, and it all culminated in a match that will forever go down in osu history. Vaxei and his tournament streak was put up to the test against the new tournament demon maliszewski with one match to finally decide it all. Let's relive the hype this match brought to the table.

The fact that Vaxei was able to set the tournament pp record after coming back is insane. The last time he lost tournament match was back in 2018, so malis did a great job ending Vaxei's streak and ultimately Vaxei went down in an honorable way.

Just vaxei doing vaxei things, leaves for 8 months and comes back for a tourney, does well enough to have an almost even fight against one of the best tourney players over the course of the last 2 years and gets the PP record for tournaments.

Malis play the game all the time and his aim is much more consistent but vaxei not that often compared with malis so the result is kinda obvious, Even on owc vaxei perform not that great compared to his previous owc or 1v1.. If he actually try maybe he might take his tournament king back again, But i think he might actually quit osu this time..

The corsace grand finals showed us one thing: Maliszewski is way more consistent than mrekk, but when it comes to absurd level of difficulty the skill cap of mrekk shines the brightest. I'd still consider Maliszewski to be a better overall tournament player than mrekk, because most tournaments don't go this far with their map pools. I think that Maliszewski still has the potential to increase his mechanics, and I'm looking forward for corsace closed 2024 to see them face off once again on map pools this absurd.

Look, ristel and mrekk played against each other in Finals when mappool had slightly lower star rating and ristel won 7-4 and sent mrekk to losers bracket. Same thing happened in CPMC last year and ristel won 5-1. The conclusion: If tournament doesnt have almost 9 star mappools ristel beats mrekk in 90% of matches (not 100% bc you never know). Corsace GF mappool was one of the hardest if not the hardest mappool that there is when it comes to tournaments this caliber, so most of the times if mrekk and maliszewski meet during a tournament, maliszewski will win, unless there is a near 9 star mappool, which is very rare.

then his kimi no kioku dt fc doesn't count as the tournament pp record since it was a showmatch right?

Lmao how does this make maliszewski the goat of tournament play? I mean vaxei’s legacy outweighs everything malizewski has done in tournament just from the sheer dominance and amount of time vaxei has reigned over the osu top players, I mean I like vaxei and I’m aware that I’m kinda blowing him off rn but I genuinely do not think maliszewski has reached a point or will ever reach a point where he has a legacy more polarising and outrageous..

If Vaxei plays the game consistently (very unlikely) he'll remain undefeated. His DT is still at a very good point, speed lacking and consistency rusty. Vaxei 2020-2021 would still be undefeated.

idk if he said this in the video but this isn't a tournament loss, it's just a showmatch. also i'm pretty sure he lost an individual match to Toy during his reign but just clawed his way to a win through losers bracket. not sure though. shouthout to maliszewski he's one of my biggest inspirations for aim control and tech

You're looking at a washed bacon vs a peak mali, give them until the next tournament setting to see who is will be the best . However this is a good show match to open he's eyes to what is coming.

I know this is me coping, but technically that was no tournament, it was merely a 1v1 duel because people wanted to find out who would win. Speaking from my own opinions, this technically means neither of them have lost a tournament in a while.

Both players did well. But this new guy literally played just a month ago and he was already challenged. If they make a rematch probably a year later it might go differently.. or not, who knows maybe malis really improved ever since vaxei took his long break
