On top of losing to a lot of other players (like, last year he lost 6-4 to Utami, 6-0 to Arnold, 5-1 to malisz, 5-2 to WhiteCat... and got outperformed at the owc by malisz, Karcher, Utami, xooty, and several other players. The only tournament he won last year was Corsace open, in which he only played one match, on the pool where he was most likely to shine). However I agree with you that today, mrekk has the highest skillcap in the world and malisz and Vaxei are probs the only two who can potentially match him on pools that hard. Malisz also crushed mrekk twice already so it doesn't matter. Also mrekk won on pool that was experimental and a lot harder than any normal pool. You could make excused for both sides rly and honestly it doesn't matter who is better since winning in a tournament match isn't all about skill but also how players feel on that day or the maps that are pooled.

2020-2021 Vaxei wouldn't have shitmissed on HR picks or ran out of stamina on 240BPM. That last map would've surely been an FC choke for someone of his calibre of consistency. None of this would've happened a few years ago, but gg to malisz for showing crazy consistency and class.
