- ODK Collect is a mobile application that is used for electronic data collection. It has very robust functions that make it the tool of choice for researchers around the world. This video is a tutorial for beginners that explains how to install ODK Collect and how to use its amazing features and settings to give an unforgettable user experience.
Using ODK collect properly will also help researchers and students to be able to get quality data and ease the research process.
With proper set up of ODK COLLECT on the mobile phone, users can now link it up to any server of their choice e.g Kobotoolbox server, Aggregate Server, ODK central, ona COLLECT e.t.c

I love how ODK Collect saves data entry time by uploading the data directly to the server. This was easy to understand, thank you sir.
Yes Madam Deborah, before we were using ODK in our department we used to spend days collecting the data and then days building the database and more days entering the data and still come back with lots of entry and collection errors that you will spend days cleaning again. But with ODK, we cut the time for surveys down by 4 folds

Great!! I am glad you know how to use ODK now. If you are comfortable with building your form, then you can use the Kobotoolbox server for free. See my beginner's guide on how to use Kobotoolbox. You just sign up and upload your form into the server and you are good to go😃
The sounds like a very useful tool. Does the demo mode have limited uses?
Not that I know of sir. Its actually just a template for a qick project. we have used it since 2013 for large surveys without any hassles. So you can start your own project and collect data with it without any restrictions. This is a good question.

Nice question Doc, no you don't have to do this for all devices. Sometimes the default settings are okay for all the data collection activities. So as soon as you download the software on the device and pair it with the server, then you are good to go.
Great presentation boss. But I have a little challenging with the app, am collecting data for a WHO immunization exercise, and a part of the data is missing, it only display the number, but the data under that number is missing, and am unable to proceed with the collection or saving the finalized data. Please how do I resolve this?

Before collection. It's supposed to display the names of the wards in that local government so I can choose, but the options are not available
@@northexclusive4458 you will need to use the "select one" option and put in all the local government areas as options and preview it. I hope this helps? let me know if you are still having any issues.
Thanks for the tutorials, please i want to use my odk app to measure land area, please how can I add that feature to my form so that at the end of my survey i wil be able to know how many acres of land i have measured
Great question! You will need to use the location function when designing the form and apply the Geoshape. Then you have to walk to the different corners of the land recording the points. its only then that you can have the shape and the area of the land. I hope this helps?

Hi Kristin, great question. If he has already collected data with the ODK app on his mobile phone and can’t find the data, then just go into the files of the phone inside the app folder you will see the folder called “instances” that’s where the data should be in. You can copy out all those instances to another phone and extract the data that way or use an app called “ODK Briefcase” to extract your data into CSV format. I hope this helps?
