    About my new RUclips channel:
    The official BRIAN MAY CHANNEL is designed to carry anything on film or video that relates to me [Brian May] outside Queen - to replace all the bits and pieces of music video that are currently around out there with new highest quality versions, and fill in the gaps; and to cover under one umbrella the other areas that I operate in … Stereoscopy, Astronomy, and my animal welfare work through my charity the Save Me Trust. Each of these areas will have their own playlist on the Brian May channel. But the intended pivot of it all is the entirely new part that we’re calling Brian Talks. This section will carry current ‘to the camera’ comments, updates and communications, and I’m hoping it will be a proper ‘voice’ for me, an outlet, as well as a way of glueing together the rest of the channel.

    Brian May: What a Lovely man!

  • @brunoraffo6726
    @brunoraffo6726 2 года назад +8

    I love him. He acts like he's NOT a super famous musician who added a whole chapter on rock guitar, who was part of one of the very few GREAT musical events of ALL times, and who compose and played some of the most inspirational pieces of music ever...And yes, this is the way he should act, because he's EVEN more than all of that, he's a human being living in the present...I guess. LOVE.

    My stepmother donated my Dad's Victorian collection of stereoscopes and images to Brian's collection a few years ago.
    Dad and I used to replicate this using a couple of SLRs followed by darkroom time back in the early 80's.
    Now, in 2019, I have just ordered my Lite Owl and Owl VR kit and reminiscing of good times with my much loved Dad who passed 20 years ago.

    Saw your clip on the astronomy book, got the Owl VR kit and now saw this clip. Somehow found this one hard to accommodate. Many other VR videos work Ok. Pity you didn't put in the picture you just took, so we can see the camera used. I'm the proud owner of a 3D video camera and there aren't many around. However mine makes 16:9 framed videos, not square ones. Now trying to find out if that format is possible on RUclips. Thanks for promoting 3D, which has been a lifetime hobby for me.

    I can’t find that app for iPhone. I have an iPhone 6. Can anyone recommend another app or send me a link to the app Brian is using in this video. Thanks.

  • @pentacleman1000
    @pentacleman1000 2 года назад

    Okay, I’ll go look for that app. But I’m not sure I’d trust an app to align my two shots perfectly. If I tilt the phone a bit between shots, which happens now and then, at least a little, that can cause alignment problems. There is also cropping and as you pointed out, decisions about where the stereo window should be to either cause or prevent things from coming out of that window, or being clipped by the window and looking weird. So many considerations. I usually just take my shots and do all that alignment and cropping stuff later in my image manipulation program. And then post it on FB for my friends. And I set them up for crossed eyed viewing, because more people are able to free view cross eyed than the other way. So even though it’s not ideal, it’s easier. I can’t even free view the other way myself any more… too old. So I also shoot right to left, so that I can check the shot right away on the phone by cross eyed viewing the two preview images in the Photos album. I’m also a big fan of hyper stereo, so I want to make sure I haven’t overdone the separation. Hmm, couldn’t find the app. Oh well.

    How was this video made in 3D? That's my question. I've gotten into 3D after visiting Stonehenge where they had 3D postcards. I thought "Yes! That's the only way to appreciate Stonehenge" because 2D doesn't do it justice. Same as the snow piles in my driveway and other things. I have two identical small cameras mounted on a stick to take side-by-side pictures. But I have to press the buttons at the same time. And beyond a certain point, 3D doesn't look 3D. It's best to have something receding into the distance.
    There's software I found called StereoPhotomaker that puts both images side by side. I tried doing it manually but eventually discovered that even two identical camera models side by side are slightly different vertically. I tried three different models on two different sticks and a countertop - same results.

This and other 3D videos from a person of such calibre as Brian May is are an extremely rare occurrence. Most people likely won't see anything like it in their entire life. Cherish it!
