@@brandonbouchez7195 There IS a point to cats, why do you think they are domesticated? They are really good at pest control, not to mention, they /USUALLY/ don't have anxiety when you leave the house for work, AHEM, DOGS.
@@Nothingtoseehereanyway That's fair, the pest control is the only argument I see as valid really. You do see my point of how people basically just explain their cat doing everything a dog already does when they're defining them though, do you not?
My cat is trained (basic commands), does tricks, has separation anxiety, is ridiculously affectionate, and is the clingiest animal I've ever had. I have a guinea pig who she has, apparently, adopted. The best pest control I get out of her is taking out moths and the occasional house fly. If I have friends over, she makes herself the center of attention. I have never had a cat like her. It was an adjustment for me when I first got her because she was the complete opposite of every cat I have had before. Like I thought I is was getting a cat not a cat who low-key acts like a dog. I just dont have to take her on walks or outside to go potty.
Thank you for this, even if you don't get cats. I feel the urge to point out that cats are the only creatures who domesticated themselves. Twice. Humans see wolves: Huh. I think I can train that to give me its food. Cats with humans: Hmm... I think I can train that to give me its food. And if not there's always rodent for dessert when I hang out with these guys.
@@MrWolfie321 Mmm... I know it's for a joke, so I didn't pick at it, but no it isn't. The line that bothers me and isn't even an exaggeration is "And so you know how dogs are super dependent on their humans .. yeah, well, cats are going to be the opposite." Because they aren't. And lines like that are used as excuses to toss them to the curb like garbage all the time. Yes. I know that's not what he said. it's just one of those biases people have and this perpetuates. And cat people wouldn't say it. It's a joke. I'm not upset by it because I don't think he meant it ill, and I'm still glad he did a take on cats. Dogs are pack animals. Cats are territorial. Both could exist in the wild if forced out there, but they're domesticated at this point and do better with humans than without them. I've also done charity work with animals a lot in my life. Cats bond with other creatures and can feel separation anxiety and codependency. I've got a rescue cat right now who is high anxiety, which he relieves by chewing on things. He's the first super chewy cat I've ever had. His owner died. I met him as a frequent pet hotel guest because the owner traveled on weekends, and he missed her and had so much anxiety and stress it gave him a UTI, so he couldn't stay home alone. When she passed, he was at the hotel, and her family didn't want him, so I adopted him through the volunteer group that would have taken him. He still chews on things all the time, though he's calmed down with age and the fact that his homelife is stable and I am home 90 percent of the time (I now work from home after COVID). The stress of being without people even impacted his coat. He has the roughest, most brittle fur of any cat I've ever had, and I've had alot. With a good diet, lots of petting from my Dad, and a predictable schedule, it's still a rough coat, but it's softer than it was. This feels about where it should be as healthy as opposed to stressed out all the time. I had another cat who has passed on now who went through five different owners when he became inconvenient. I had to be the last one. That cat attached to me like velcro from the moment we met. I didn't want another cat. I wasn't trying to get another cat. But I ended up with another cat because that cat was going to have a mental breakdown if I left him behind. Faith in humanity = 0, love in the world for Boots = 0. So I took him with me even though I could barely afford the two I had because I had to. Someone had to make him a priority. Anyway, Cats are very attached to their people usually. And they don't do as well outside, on the whole, as people think.
@@patrickpromen3605 Incorrect. Due to human intervention, they've had to build social connections that they didn't normally have. They did this by relating to other cats and people as their instincts were to relate to their mothers. They just adapted the behavior to everyone else. Also, try a wild cat versus a domestic cat. The whole littler box versus peeing all over will quickly show you a difference.
My cat Darwin is 10 years old, has 1 canine tooth , and can still hunt! I left the door open for a bit one morning and woke up to a dead dove in my hallway. He ignores me 90% of the day tho... but i still love him!

@@brandonbouchez7195 There IS a point to cats, why do you think they are domesticated? They are really good at pest control, not to mention, they /USUALLY/ don't have anxiety when you leave the house for work, AHEM, DOGS.
@@BrinIoca I don't particularly enjoy my house smelling and having litter all over the place anyways
@@Nothingtoseehereanyway That's fair, the pest control is the only argument I see as valid really. You do see my point of how people basically just explain their cat doing everything a dog already does when they're defining them though, do you not?
"Cats are gonna be the opposite" then whys mine got severe separation anxiety
Lol, my cat has a bit of separation anxiety bc she was abandoned by her mom😢
@@briana5685 my boy was born durring covid and doesnt understand that its okay if im not in the same room for more than 5 minutes
Unless it’s a Ragdoll cat - they are very much a cat version of a lap dog. 😁💕
Humans being an invasive species is such an underrated comment!!!! LOL
that "yeah, I knew you'd like that" was so well delivered?? idk why but that tickled my brain in a good way
Same!
The “so you know how dogs need their owner yeah they are the exact opposite” got me laughing
God: *oh*
"Cats are gonna be the opposite."
Me: pfft, yeah right. My cat is super clingy and constantly wants to be petted.
I mean, all that he said over here is factually true tho lol
Not true at all. Cats just kinda moved in and said, "Yeah, I guess you can stay." No domestication.
@@MrWolfie321 Mmm... I know it's for a joke, so I didn't pick at it, but no it isn't.
The line that bothers me and isn't even an exaggeration is "And so you know how dogs are super dependent on their humans .. yeah, well, cats are going to be the opposite."
Because they aren't.
@@jenniferhanses I know lol. I was just trying to make a joke
'I knew you'd like that' was perfect..
"They are very good at pest control."
Me who owns two cats that hunt any bug in the house: That explains a lot.

As a happy cat owner our cats enjoy being around us and come straight to the door when we get home. But also beg for food. 😃

My cat Darwin is 10 years old, has 1 canine tooth , and can still hunt! I left the door open for a bit one morning and woke up to a dead dove in my hallway. He ignores me 90% of the day tho... but i still love him!
